I'm a frequent guest at the Sheraton, Wuxi and have been staying at the property since it originally opened. Rooms are well worn at this point and the hotel needs refurbishment.

Room rates keep rising as until recently this hotel was really the only game in town for westerners and has the best location.

But hold on, stop the press! Try the new Kempinski close to the lake.

Same price and brand spanking new and fresh! Flat panel TV's, modern baths and wonderful views! Excellent service!

We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a multi-city China tour. It was a good hotel that met basic American standards. Location was excellent, and very convenient if you plan to spend time in Wuxi. The rooms were clean and a decent size. Beds were a standard American twins, which were softer and smaller than most beds in hotels in China that cater to tourists. We were there on a Friday night and had a room facing the street. There was lots of traffic noise (honking) all night until about 4:30 am, then it started again around 5:00 am. If you stay at the hotel, you might want to ask for a room that does not face the street.

Nice friendly people. Good location. Problem was that no one seemed able to speak English, tried, French, Spanish, German and my poor Japanese - none worked.

I have spent months over the last two years at this hotel. The staff and owner all strived to make my stays comfortable. This hotel and it's restaurants offer excellent value for the Western traveler. The excecutive floors are 20 and 21 which offer small perks for the additional cost, for the tourist the lower floors are the better deal.

Recently stayed (2) nights at the hotel in a standard room, non-smoking. The room was fine, quiet, clean, no smell, good internet access. The breakfast was also great, a chef cooking eggs to order and full buffet breakfast. The only minor issue was the water/shower pressure and temperature. Not enough hot water and the pressure was really low, but we survived.

I spent 2 nights on the 15th floor in an "Executive level" room. Room was clean neet and smelled like someone dropped one in the wastebasket. Chinese toilets are not vented like those in the states, but this hotel was the only one of the 8 we stayed in with american style toilet and bathroom, that smelled like the ones outside the hotels. I actually woke up in the middle of the night thinking I had soiled the sheets. Others in our group were down on the 5th floor and did not have any problem. Except for the smell, it's a very nice hotel. just stay on the very low floors.

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton for one night in mid-October as part of a tour group. The hotel is on a main street in downtown with lots of shops and restaurants around it. The room was a little on the small side, but it was neat and clean. The American-style buffet breakfast was included with our tour and was good... They had a Japanese food area which was actually much better than the Western style food. Overall it was very nice, a welcome refuge after a long day.
