This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. Very nice rooms, excellent restaurants, exercise facility, and a full sized pool. Holiday Inns in China are nothing like the Holiday Inns in the US. I stayed there over the New Years holiday on business, it was nearly empty for most of that period. I was working in the field and it was really nice to return to this hotel each day. It has a decent Chinese restaurant and a nice Brazilian steak house and a very nice breakfast buffet. There is a Thai restaurant within walking distance. Taxi’s are difficult to get.
Tang Gu is not much to talk about, the city (economic district) is growing at a fantastic rate and seems to me to be a pretty typical Chinese city. Beijing and Shanghai are not typical.
I didn’t have time to visit the local attractions but I heard that the Kiev (old Soviet Aircraft Carrier) is docked nearby, if I ever return I am going to make time to go and see this little bit of history.
This not your typical Holdiay Inn, this is a 4+ star hotel, it is big (I mean big), you need to walk a distance to your breakfast buffet, to the business center or the fitness centre. It is located within an unusual looking architectural building.
The staff were all very friendly and the hotel experience is quite good however - this hotel is located in the TADA around and there is really nothing around, it is attached to a mall but the mall is 60% vacant. A 5-10 minute taxi will take you to shops and restaurants. And lastly forget about venturing into downtown Tianjin, it is a long taxi ride.
Very modernized hotel with new concepts of architect. Experience it and you will enjoy a true 5 star standard Holiday Inn ... Holiday Inn shoud rated it Crown Plaza standard!
