Stayed here twice in the last 4 months as it is on our Company's 'preferred' list. The Hotel lobby is fairly large and check-in is efficient although not particularly friendly. The bar is to the side of the lobby area, it can be pretty cold there & totally lacks atmosphere, however the bar staff are very attentative & efficient.
The rooms are OK - have all the basic amenities and seem fairly clean. Appearance wise they are a bit dull & not somewhere you'd want to spend much time in. Lighting not particularly good, need to have all the lights on to get the room decently lit. Internet connection good. Beds somewhat hard & found it difficult to get comfortable. Various restaurants in the Hotel, but only tried out two of them. The main breakfast restaurant is pretty small & as smoking is allowed the room tends to be filled with smog and not particularly pleasant to dine in. The breakfast choice & quality were fine and again the staff were very efficient. I arrived in one of the other restaurants fairly late one evening, struggled to find something suitable on the menu and had to rush my meal as I felt somewhat uncomfortable with all eyes on me, waiting for me to leave! During my last visit I took some colleagues along the road to the Renaissance as I could guarantee decent food in their restaurant.
In summary the Hotel is OK, nothing special though. Price wise they are pretty competitive. Staff are very efficient, but the place is not particularly friendly or comfortable and it is fairly low down on my 'prefered' list of places to stay in Tianjin.
Very nice hotel and highly recommendable. Rooms are a bit small (compared to other chinese hotels) but furniture is new and hotel is in a very good shape. Breakfast is excellent with several choises (continental, Chinese and Japanese)
