This was our second time staying at the Chateau Regency. We have stayed in both a 2 bedroom and a 3 bedroom apartment and have found them both to suit our needs. Whilst the rooms are a little tired they are very spacious and have everything you need.
The heating is perfect. The rooms were cleaned well each day. The staff are so friendly and remembered us from our first visit. They are child friendly and have a childrens playground on the grounds. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and full of choice. Coffee a little ordinary but that is the norm for China.
We will definately stay here again and would recommend it to other families travelling to Suzhou. We had our driver so distance wasn't a problem but it was a very close drive to many restaurants - Western and Asian.
The staff also phoned Sherpas (food delivery service) for us and we had pizzas delivered to our room.
Chateau is easily a 5 to 6 stars service apartments. I stayed there twice in Oct and Dec 2007 for one to two weeks each time. From the pleasant room lightings to comfy queen size bed (with at least 4 pillows), not to mention the excellent bathroom amenities, comes fully equipped with all the things that one would expect from a 5 star hotel. Attached kitchen is great as it comes fully equipped with all the cooking pots, plates, spoons etc. Special mention is the bathroom with its excellent heatingfacities keeping me warm during the super cold weather of zero degreeswhile bathing as well as their spacious living room where I can relax at night after I come back from business. The aprtment is kept clean and neat everyday by the chambermaids and bathroom was always sparkling clean. The only problem I had was a faulty toilet flush which the counter staff promptly send someone to get it fix each time.
One bonus that comes with the aprtment was the washing machine in the aprtment. During my 2 weeks stay there I can easily wash my clothings after one week hence I do not need to handwash.
Their morning buffet breakfast is a huge spread with a reasonably wide selection and dining hall is modern chic. Also they have an indoor swimming pool in the basement which was cool. I would certainly book back the same hotel when I am gng back Suzhou again in October.
There was also a provision shop at the hotel lobby which closes at 11.30pm But they were actually able to open for us to buy stuff even after they close. I remember asking them to open the shop for us to buy cup noodles after I got back from business late around 12midnight.
I moved my family to SIP and we stayed at the Chateau Regency for two weeks. The rooms have a kitchen, which includes a small wash machine (Euro style), refrigerator, microwave, and gas stove. Two bathrooms are well equipped and there's plenty of storage space. The living room includes a 42" flat screen with DVD. Most rooms have two balconies.
Room service is every day and they are efficient and friendly. Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 10:30 and they will cook you eggs any way you want. I suggest standing there and waiting of you want eggs over easy and show them how you want your eggs. The buffet is a mixture of Japanese and American so it handles just about everyone.
There's a pool underground as well as a gym and bar. Everybody is very friendly and there's always somebody around who speaks excellent English. We used room service quite often and your food is generally there in less than 30 minutes.
In closing, it's a great deal. We paid roughly $70/day and it included free breakfast for two. They change currency and don't rip you off either. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the hotel.
