I booked this hotel because it was recommended to me by a friend in Qingdao; Honestly this is one of the best hotels I've ever been in my life (and I travel over 60 days per year) . The service is so good and the staff so attentive that at times I felt like I did not deserve so many attentions. Upon my check out I asked the times for the shuttle to the airport, but their schedule was not convenient for me, so the front desk manager offered me the hotel limo at no extra charge to take me to the airport. The breakfast is very good, but again the service is what makes this hotel above most others. The location is very nice as well since it is within 1/2 block to the seaside. In all a wonderfull experience. I'll be back to this hotel my next time to Qingdao.
We stayed at many hotels including the Ritz-Carlton in Beijing during our 2 week vacation in China. The Seaview Garden Hotel was the most exceptional! The rooms were clean, modern and well-equipped. The breakfast buffet (included in the price of the room) offered a wide range of tastes and was delightful. Most importantly, the service was first rate and unmatched. Examples are free stuffed animals and snacks for the children, daily afternoon fruits, and umbrellas for rainy days. The staff catered to our every need without being asked. Wet bathing suits mysteriously were dried and folded. Tube of toothpaste appeared just before ours ran out. When we inquired about hot dogs (not on the menu) for the kids, the waiter went out and bought it specially for us. We had a wonderful time and will always remember the sincere Chinese hospitality that we experienced at the Seaview Garden hotel.
Qingdao is very lovely city and garden hoel also has so many good condition, near beach and swimming pool, nice breakfast.
Especially the service of picking up in airport is very nice~~~.
Despite some language difficulties, the service was friendly and top notch. For example, one of the business centre staff heard me cough and when I got back to my room there was some special Chinese tea left for me plus a lovely note. We stayed in the Guest Wing- I think the cheapest room available, so no view - but new with great decor- western style. Lovely breakfast in room near the pool, and whilst was more Chinese/Korean style there was plenty for us to choose from. As others have said, it is a little out of town, but that's OK as taxis are cheap and there are great walking paths around. Was the most expensive hotel in our travels in China, but guess you would expect that in a resort town.
We were quite pleased with Seaview Garden: it's a pretty property with nice rooms, a good service and thanks to its proximity to the beach, it gave a vacation feel to our stay. However we were there in August and it was a real ghost town, we couldn't understand the lack of guests and activity. The hotel is also a few miles away from downtown so we had to rely on the cab once out of the property. The Crown Plaza is a better choice.
The rooms in the hotel are outstanding and extremely comfortable, with views overlooking the sea. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, but language and clear lack of contact with foreigners sometimes made for strange results. That shouldn't discourage anyone from staying here. It's not part of a chain, has charm and character and is in a pleasant situation.
The room was well-equipped, the bathroom had a huge glass window, giving on to the bedroom and hence with views to the sea (there was a curtain to close this off if you wanted to).
The staff is enormously helpful although language is sometimes a difficulty. This is the only hotel we could find that really has a sea view--as the name says. We were directly across the street from the beach; there is a long walkway--miles, I believe--that is extremely pleasant.
Car hire arrangements through the hotel are reasonable; they will take you to Lao Shan and other places. Private meals can be arranged in a beautiful room overlooking the sea on two sides.
Definitely a Chinese hotel, but a lovely location.
We would stay there again because of the view and proximity to the beach. It is very clean.
New hotel complex 10km East of city Center, claims to cater for international guests. 5-Star rating.
Main road divides the hotel complex from the coastline.
The garden is made of huge concrete parts with a fountain in the centre.
Breakfast focuses mainly on chinese guests, merely some slices of cheese, ham and (chinese) coffee to find for somebody who seeks a start of the day with a western breakfast.
Rooms are clean, but its a five star hotel and this should be expected. Its the small things that make the difference. We found the English "china daily" from the day before, major ongoing works in the floor we were originally booked in, and other "minor" things,.... (i.e. room service declared the room safe operating on "low battery" as ok, and refused to change the batteries, and did take bath towels without replacing it with new ones)
Though the staff is very friendly and tries hard, sometimes their helpfulness is insulting. This hotel is far, far away from the Kempinski's and Shangri-La's in China. - Therefore not recommended for a traveller who seeks western 5-Star-comfort.
For those who are seeking just an overnight stay it seems ok, but then you need to check the value/price ratio on other 5-stars in Qingdao.
