Had to find a warm room for cold nights in Lhasa - and we found not only a working A/C (which could heat as well as cool) but also a warm atmosphere (considering it a chinese hotel). By the way: The bellboy was the person, who was best in english - Don't expect much language skill (if any) from the rest of the staff.
The room was clean and fairly large, 2 soft chairs, table, writing table, TV with lots of channels (chinese). The beds (twins) was large and like most chinese beds rather hard. Bathroom was very nice and hot water ready. Restaurent was fine.
Our room was to the main street facing south (= sun) but with no problem from traffic noise as the streets was almost deserted from around 11 pm. There are also rooms facing north and into the yard (= no noise and cooler in the summer).
Got a 30-40% discount from list price with no haggling but had to ask about breakfast (this may be due to inadequate language skill at reception). Then got Coupons for free. Breakfast is chinese - you may have western, but we didn't ask.
Compared to european standard 4-5 stars.
Location is perfect - Potala Palace is less than 100 m to the right and the tibetan part of the city (eastern part) starts to the left. 500 meters walk (or taxi - 10 Y) and you are in the center of the tibetan area.
Considering the location, the facilities and the rate - The Tibet Post Hotel is a hit.
