As a four star hotel it give real value for money. The staff is friendly and service-oriented. The rooms are beautiful decorated, clean with a great beds and pillows.
We stayed many times in this hotel and sometimes in others, but this hotel on walking distance from the railway station is the first choice. The only negative point this time is why the breakfast was offering mostly 'Moslim-food' while as far as we could see no Moslim-guests did stay in the hotel at all.
This is a big hotel with a large lobby and on arrival seemed like it was not very central and located ona busy street. This was ok as we only had one night in Kunming and had arranged to have dinner with our tour guide and his girlfriend (a first in our 43 days in the region).
The room was a good size with the usual hard beds and had free broadband but no network cable. So don't forget to travel with one! The bathroom had a showergel/shampoo dispenser on the wall and the shower was fine.
They were doing building work in the hotel and worked until about 10pm - seems not to uncommon in China.
The hotel had CNN and some other english channels we had not had since we had left Shanghai weeks before so we ahppily settled in to watch a movie after dinner.
Breakfast beat our expectations. We were so excited to find real cereal that we ate two bowls! It is a good buffet and the staff are very friendly.
Can't really comment on the location as we wee picked up in the morning and taken to Lake Dian. For a big hotel that we had our doubts about it turned out to be ok in the end.
We used Elong to book all hotel stays in China. This place was simply the best property we stayed at. A true 4 star experience from the pick up at the airport to the drop off. The restaurant was excellent, service impeccable, room everything you could ask for, location excellent, enough English spoken by staff. The only problems encountered were by separate vendors located on the property. The massage place didn't look to inviting so we passed on that, and the travel department down the hall from the front desk was staffed with some snooty, snobbish women. Luckily we didn't need either. The lobby was beautiful, doorman always present, helpful with directions and sightseeing. Stay here for a trouble-free, relaxing stay.

Visited this hotel a few night during our China tour.
Compared to other hotels on our tour this one is above average.
Very clean hotel. Nice rooms, good breakfast, good dinner.
The bar is very small and does not have a seperate area. Do not expect too much of it.
Staff is very friendly. And there a 2 complimentary bottles of water in your room.
Some prime ministers of several countries stayed in this hotel in the 90's (some pictures and authographes on the wall).
There is a Dicos (chines version of KFC) in the neighbourhood and there are some large banks nearby as well. You could go out for a walk at night.
This is good hotel. Would stay here again.
