At the end of a month travelling solo. Visiting Taichung to see my ESL teaching daughter and her boyfriend. Enjoyed the city but my stay was definitely enhanced by this terrific hotel. Modern, exceptionally clean (sheets changed everyday housekeeping visited at least twice daily always while I was out). Spa tub with incredible view was a real luxury). Upgraded to corner studio 3602 - defiinitely worth extra $$. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Drinks in the bar good value and dinner in the restaurant with good food, great service and fabulous view. My daughter and her boyfriend were so impressed they have booked for Christmas treat. They have also stayed in the sister hotel in Taipei and gave rave reviews.
Stayed at the hotel for brothers wedding. had been in country already for a week, they were able to take care of laundry quickly. The staff was also able to help us with getting transportation to the buses so that we could head on to next destination.
We just stayed at this hotel for one night and the hotel has a great view as it overlooks the view of taichung. The facility of this hotel is great especially the high-tech all-in-one desk with internet, dvd machine and tonnes of speakers located in the room.
The location is great with a small mall at the back of the hotel. It has high-end supermarket, restaurants and shops to buy your stuffs. The service of the staff is great and overall I enjoy very much the stay at this hotel!
Excellent staff with strong English-speaking skills who go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable with both the hotel and the Taichung environs. The rooms are very clean, modern, and have offer great bird's-eye views of Taichung. We've stayed here a few times with corner rooms, and once with a killer view from a soak in the bathtub or a shower. Seriously awesome. The bathroom's toiletries are top-tier products (I love their firming body lotion's texture and scent), and room's office amenities like WiFi are reliable and fast. We will always pick Hotel ONE for our trips to Taichung, because we know the staff will take care of every need or question.
We stay in HOTEL ONE for 12days....at begining we were going to stay for few nights only, but when we arrived the hotel, wow...it has very friendly doorman to help with our suitcases. Check in was good and speedy. I LOVE OURS ROOM it was at cornor of the building. Beautiful views specialy at night..VERY BIG ROOM . also LOVE the BATHROOM very modern design..
The hotel even prepared a birthday cake setting in our room for my partner we were so surprised the hotel will pay a lot of attenation to their guests...
WE LOVE HOTEL ONE, WE WILL COME BACK AGAIN, AGAIN, AND AGAIN....
I was born in Taichung and now work and live in the US. I spent a night at Hotel One while on business trip in Nov, 08. I have stay at many top hotels in major cities across Asia, Hotel One is my favor one. Great for couple, business traveler, even family, a beautiful park right across from hotel with many restaurants and bars around. Don't miss this hotel in Taichung!
Although i wasn't there on business, i think that i would have been very comfortable if i was! The business desk was great with ipod, a office printer, cel-phone, etc. I especially loved the TV in the bathroom! The service was above averge. Although not perfect, it is enough. It is the tallest building in Taichung so the city view was great. I booked with American Express and got a great deal on the standard room ( around 100USD/ per nite service fee included). I would definitely go back again!
Absolutely superb! Warm and friendly staff who cannot do enough for you. The restaurants were great. Try the green curry chicken, I had it twice during my stay.
I stayed at the Hotel One on a recent business trip to Taichung. A colleague who travels to Taiwan regularly had tried quite a few of the hotels in the city and likes this one the best.
The hotel is located on the top floors of a tall building and so has great views. I managed to get a corner room. It was spacious, very modern and high tech. The bed was large and comfortable and the work desk was also large, with an ergonomic chair and was well-stocked with office supplies and a printer.
The bathroom was very modern also, with a separate small flat screen television and a nice shower. A fruit bowl was provided.
The staff were very professional and friendly and were eager to please. We got a good room rate via the internet, so check there to book a room.
We did not eat at the hotel, but walked down from the hotel about 3 minutes to a local Taiwanese restaurant on the first corner. The food was very good and fairly inexpensive. We also skipped the breakfast, since it was a bit steep, and just stopped at a 7-11, which are on every other corner in Taiwan, for a quick bite.
The exercise room was well equipped and also had good views.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially if looking for a modern ambiance.
Stayed in the hotel for one night. This is by far the best place to stay in Taichung. Previously stayed at the Landis (part of the same group) but the services and facilities are basic.
Great views of the city on top of one of the tallest buildings in the city. Hip and cool decor, with widescreen TV, DVD player, in-room printer, stereo speakers...etc. Nice LCD TV in the bathroom. Rainshower + bathtub next to the window so you can get a view (a la Ritz Singapore).
Free wireless internet throughout the hotel, which is great.
What a memorable stay at Hotel ONE Taichung! In the last three months, I’ve stayed in at least half a dozen five-star hotels from Las Vegas, Santa Monica, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei. Hotel ONE in Taichung is by far the most business friendly hotel I’ve ever stayed at. This was my first stay in Taichung. I researched all the hotels and read the reviews for each, including the one on Tripadvisor, visited Hotel ONE’s website before making my reservation. I was drawn to this property by its acclaimed high tech workstation, complementary use of mobile phone during the stay, and the views from Taichung’s newest and tallest building. I booked my room from the hotel’s website and got a 50% discount for a corner studio on the 36th floor, including daily breakfast buffet.
From the moment I checked in, I was not disappointed. I was in Taichung for four days of business along with another colleague, who also stayed in a corner studio on the same floor. We both agreed that the view from my room, and the layout of my room and bathroom at 3602 was much better than my colleague’s at 3601.
Upon settling into my room, I hooked up my Ipod to the connector on the work station and was able to enjoy my favorite music in surround sound from the Sony speakers placed in each corner of my room. I loved the workstation with its 37” LCD TV which I hooked up with my laptop using Skype and a camera, which enabled me to see my friends and colleagues in the U.S. on this 37” monitor while I ran around the room, unpacking, talking and enjoying the panoramic view of the city. The work station also came with a mesh screen back computer chair with adjustable armrest, which was unexpected and very comfortable. The laser printer, stationary, extra electrical outlets, mobile phone, cable and Wi-Fi connection at the work station are also added bonus.
The bathroom was lovely with its modern décor with a separate TV monitor, dual showerhead and a large bath tub with breathtaking view of the city.
The fitness room on the 29th floor was exceptional for Asian standards with beautiful view of the city. Although the hotel didn’t have a swimming pool or a sauna, but allowing guests with 24 hour access to the fitness room was great for overseas business traveler.
My dining experience at the hotel restaurants were great. But the service I received was exceptional. Surprisingly, the staff all spoke English very well compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at in Asia. I will definitely stay at Hotel ONE again when I visit Taichung.
Taichung's newest and tallest hotel is a blatant W-Hotel/Jia Hong Kong rip-off, right down to the pseudo-hip background music. This is actually a good thing, considering that Taichung's other leading hotels are really showing their age, or have let their standards lapse so much they have been booted from major international franchise affiliations. The hotel is located at the top of a glistening new office tower. It is managed by the Landis Group, an up and coming group of luxury hotels located in China and Taiwan.
Check-in seems to be done half on the first floor, and half in the room. Personally, I don't like the check-in process being done in my room.
Nice touches in the room include electronic curtains, oversized bathrooms with rainforest showers and a large, flat screen monitor. Laptops can be connected to the monitor. Needless to say, all rooms have views of the city and so do many bath tubs. The hotel also provides cellphones for guests to take with them in case someone calls their room, but I did not use this service.
Some people might be put off and confused by the remotes and docking station and all of their functions. Internet is free, but I could not detect any wireless and instead used a cable. They weren't thinking about infrared mice when they decided to use a glass work table.
The restaurant is a bit spotty. The dinner menu is excellent. Most dishes have Thai and Indian influences and the food was great. The service, however, wasn't. The staff was friendly, but they seemed really nervous and my partner was served a good 30 minutes before my food came out.
Room service ordered for lunch earlier in the day seemed a little soggy. The breakfast brunch is OK, but expect the usual Taiwanese buffet scene of tons of kids and line chaos.
The building doesn't seem like it was explicitly designed with a hotel in mind, and therefore the exercise room is small and there is no spa or pool, probably this hotel's biggest drawbacks.
The other complaint is the awkward English on their web site. Certainly this hotel, which charges at least USD 200 a night, could have paid one of the thousands of native-speaking, foreign English teachers in Taiwan a couple hundred bucks to clean up the bad English on their site. The site also states, "For any request, just push “8” and our service coordinator will provide the necessary assistance. 'Whenever and whatever our guests need..." Interestingly enough, there's a trendy U.S. hotel chain that has a Whatever/Whenever service.
Other than that, this is a good place to stay in Taichung.

The room was very comfortable and incredibly clean with great views.
The best part about staying there was the super friendly service and attentive staff. Most of them had a fair level of spoken English.
Agreed that the biggest drawback was the lack of pool and spa. Nevertheless, we highly recommend it as a base in Taichung.
