the hotel has very good rooms, well fitted, modern. free wifi and LAN. located adjacent to Taichung park and very close to the night market. within walking distance to the central station. Restaurant is good for breakfast, and there are plenty of places to eat in the neighborhood. there is a great restaurant selling North Chinese food around the corner. The Hotel is an Express so no pool or gym but the room and the staff are great.

I would like to commend the hotel for being understanding and fair. I was supposed to stay there end of November and have booked through the internet choosing the advance booking rate which was the lowest rate by giving 15% more discount compared to the flexi-rate, but on condition that it was non refundable and cancelable. But only a couple of days ago, we received an email from our airline announcing new flight schedule which was totally not suitable for us. Therefore, we have to cancel our reservation with the hotel and I emailed and called them explaining our situation. And with no further a due, they reply that they gladly cancel our reservation with not charge! Now that's what I called a great service hotel! Will definitely stay there when I have the chance to go to Taichung again.

I have to say a big thank you to all the lovely ladies at the front reception and in the restaurant for making our stay an enjoyable one. we sense genuine friendliness and hospitality, and not the typical clinical professionalism seen at other hotels. Otherwise, the hotel is very new, the room is of a good size, clean with good-speed wifi, and really nothing to complain about. Location is also good close to many transport accesses. we only had a rather disappointing incident towards the end of the stay when we decided to extend another night after staying three nights. After being told by a male reception staff that the hotel was fully booked and the only thing to do was check again the next morning for cancellation, we went online and found rooms being offered on travel websites including Holiday Inn's own website! It caused me an hour of unnecessary anxiety and my poor husband suffered too!

I liked the modern, minimalist design. We were there for just one night and it was definitely good enough for us. Room was of a good size, bathroom and clean and decent-sized. Location good enough. Breakfast - pick from set menus, but no complaints either.

It's not the Ritz but it's good enough for me. I didn't pay Ritz pricing either :)

I'm the priority club member. I'm using my point to redeem a free night. When i check in they greet me and give a very warm welcome to me. Every time i'm goin out they are greeting me by name. Its not happen in every hotel. Only this hotel was practice to do that! Its a excellent stay for me! But one of the bad thing is most of them can speak a little bit english. I think they should improve in this part. Anyway, it is a nice place to stay.

This hotel is located at center of Taichung. Its very easy for us to walk to night market!

We visit every year to see family and this was the first time we booked a hotel in the city. We wanted to be in the central part of Taichung (near the station) to see family, so was pleased to find a new/smart hotel in the area.

We booked via the Hotels website and found it very easy to find, arriving this time by bus from Taipei. The Hotel opened this year and was very clean and modern with a warm welcome from the staff. The room itself was huge! ultra modern bothroom/walk in shower and we chose the outward facing rooms (central rooms look down into the central hotel area / breakfast and shopping floors). Unless your first visit to the city and facing the park, its not worth paying the extra for a outside room.

Very comfortable beds and all the mod cons .... no need for travel plugs either, they have great new sockets that fit all overseas plugs! Large TV and coffee/tea and breakfast included with a good choice of western and Chinese.

We really couldnt fault the hotel and the staff were very nice. My wife wanted some new glasses and they recommended an optician and map/directions.

Good if you arrive by train to the centre of Taichung (the highspeed rail and airport is on the city outscurts). The main Bus terminal is also close, this makes it really good if you are visiting the areas outside Taichung like Sun Moon Lake and the mountain spa's

Great hotel to stay in!

Great enviroment, clean and spacious room. With cable and international plugs which enable traveller to charge up everything that we need for our trip.

Great Customer service, dispite doing our HW before travelling we asked the front desk for advice and the distance between one place to another. They gave valuable advice and recommendation on where they local will go which i feel that it is waht sometimes we tourist are looking for.

Great breakfast, they provide a range of their local to international range. It was good and contented after eating.

If i have got another chance to go back there again, i would sure like to stay in Holiday inn express.

But it might be a little hard to serach for the hotel after alighting at the train station, as it is a rather long walking distance with all the bagage and stuff. Calling the hotel, they will provide you with the direction and it is really useful.

I stayed in the Holiday Inn for one night. It was a pleasant surprise. I paid around $90US for the night.

The HI is right in the centre of town, so there's plenty of restaurants and markets nearby. I stayed on the 11th floor, and the room was great. 10 foot ceilings, big flat screen TV, ipod dock, free wireless and one of the best showers I've used in Taiwan (I like good water pressure:))

There is a small restaurant in the bottom of the hotel atrium. Dinner was about $8US, and breakfast is included with the room. Breakfast was nothing huge (not buffet), but was good enough for me.

If I had to be picky, I'd list the following:

1) Air con was a bit inconsistent. I had it set to 23, yet woke up pretty warm a couple of times dring the night.

2) The hotel is at a major intersection, and even though I was up high, I still heard a bit of street noise at night.

These are minor issues though, compared to the overall comfort and price of the room.

If you're in Taichung, I would definitely recommend a stay here!

Just openend last year directly across Taichung park. Very clean and trendy flair with spacious and comfortable rooms. The staff is very hospitable and kind. You get free highspeed wifi and a choice between soft and firm pillows. The restaurant offers good food for very reasonable prices. The location is nice and most major attractions in Taichung not far way. It will be our permanent choice for trips to Taichung, which by the way is an ideal starting point for trips to the beautiful landscape of Taiwan like Soon-Moon-Lake and Alishan Mountain. Photos will follow shortly.

This hotel is newer and tries to be modern. The room itself is a nice size and we happened to get a room with a nice view of Taichung park and the clay tennis courts. You can walk to a few local restaurants and shops to peruse but otherwise there isn't too much around the area. Taichung park is pretty and should be visited since it's right across the street. The breakfast is ok but they do offer eggs, ham, and hash browns, or a hard-boiled egg and dumplings, or sparerib noodles for breakfast. Not bad but it's not anything to write home about. Unfortunately I found a dead fly in the shredded carrot bowl. I believe that this hotel is relatively good for Taichung. There are no real complaints about the hotel other than it's just an average hotel. It is clean and newer which makes it nicer than other holiday inns. BTW, I don't normally stay in Holiday Inns in the US so I'm not accustomed to their standards.

I have stayed at some of the better hotels in Taichung (including Tango and Landis) and was pleasantly surprised at the Holiday Inn Express facing Taichung Park. Why the surprise? A few reasons: Good price, Good location. Very nice rooms. Comfortable bed. Modern and clean. Free and easy intenet (both Wifi and LAN). But, most notable: Very friendly and extremely helpful staff. I should name them but everyone I met tried to help and make me feel at home. Very genuine too!!

The hotel is quite new so the rooms are in excellent condition. Plain but modern and very functional. Pretty good size for Asia. Full wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows. Comfortable working desk, comfy bed and pillows, love seat sofa. LCD TV and I-Pod dock/radio/alarm. Be aware that some rooms may face inside the atrium. These must be heavenly quiet but with little natural light.

There is shopping nearby, including a sort of smallish outlet type mall connected to the hotel. Larger department stores and street markets are a 10-15 minute walk away. Accross the street is a pleasand park with pedal boats.

Remember that this is an Express Holiday Inn. I you are coming here to use hotel facilities, you will be dissapointed. Express hotels do not have any. No pool. No lounge or bar. Only a simple coffee shop where you can get free drinks (calm down guys, this does not include alcoholic drinks!) and free breakfast. For anyone still hyperventilating, you can actually get a free beer if you buy one during happy hour!! But, don't worry about food. Taiwanse people are also known to eat. Restaurants can be found outside quite easily.

I travel a lot throughout Asia and stay at many different hotels. Knowing what Taichung offers in terms of accomodations, I know this hotel gives good value. The best no-fills hotel I have stayed at. In short, I like this place.

I've been in many hotels, but none other like this for the price i paid.

To start off, the hotel is in a central district with many stores and shop.

After staying in a hotel in Taipei, i thought that i would stay in a hotel that was on a "so-so" basis. I was wrong. From arriving at the front door, i knew immediately that the hotel would already have a nice warm feeling. Holiday Inn Express is definitely on top of my list for coming back.

The room was big, clean, and very organized with a modern look and a nice view of the city. Taxi's are always outside of the front door, or you can have them call one for you. Though foods are a bit expensive than food vendors in the city, the service is just right. To enjoy your stay more, you should explore the city, and try various cheap food.

The staff were great, they are very kind and willing to help in any way. In most hotels I've stayed in, the hotel would be nice, but service quality lacks. For the first time, Holiday Inn Express has offered everything top notch for the price you paid. I enjoyed every moment i spent at the hotel. If i were to go back somewhere in Taichung City, Holiday Inn would be my number one pick.

very new hotel built of an old parking garage in taichung. Location is within 10 mins walk to taichung station and several bus lines. Surroundings are "old taichung centre" where most of the businesses have seen their best days. Rooms are brand new and modern, basically would rate them 4 star almost no need to spend more. Free internet. Good staff in the reception. Great room rate that almost makes up for the cons: average location, poor breakfast (what you would expect from an holiday inn express in the US), and unfortunately not good for a business traveller: too much street noise on friday/saturday due to strong traffic of two 4 land main roads crossing right at the hotel until around 2 am. People with bad sleep might want to bring earplugs, even on high floors.

The hotel is very new and clean. The breakfast is set menu instead of buffet with choices ranging from healthy, kids favourite, Chinese to Western food. There is free flow of tea, coffee, bread and fruits.

My family occupied 2 rooms on different levels. I would suggest the lower floor where you can look into the adjacent shopping arcade from the corridor. The upper floor is a bit quiet and dimmer.

Service is good. However, there is no porter service but there are trolleys on every level in case you need to move many baggages. Overall, we enjoyed our stay there.

This is a brand new hotel located at the corner of Taichung Park. The overall building is shared with a department store and a parking garage, but it is all new looking.

Upon entering the doors, I was greeted by the front desk and quickly checked into my room. The decor of the property is very modern and plush. The room itself is very simple yet comfortable. The bed is cozy and offers a choice of pillows (soft/firm). There is a large LCD TV with plenty of channels, iPod radio, and free high speed internet connection. The bathroom is average sized with a large walk-in shower with glass enclosure. The room also has a small sofa with pull-out bed. The only thing I would have liked to have was a mini-refrigerator.

There is no iron/ironing board in the room, but there is a self-service laundry room downstairs.

I tried the restaurant on the first floor which offers fast food style options. I was quite surprised by the quality of the food. There are many choices including Western and Chinese dishes. I opted for the Taiwanese beef noodle soup which included a fountain beverage and a wide selection of side dishes to choose from. The cost was about US$9, which was very reasonable. Breakfast was free, but I never had a chance to eat there in the morning.

Overall this is a great hotel to stay at if you want a clean, comfortable, and simple experience at a good value. I will stay here again in the future.
