Went with a group of friends to Tai Chung and Taipei to play after our Graduation Trip in March 08. During Jan to April its still the cold season. However, in Tai Chung it was not as cold as Xi Men Ding.
The room was spacious and big. We booked a quadraplet room and a twin sharing room. For the quadraplet room, the room was huge and we got ourselves a king and queen size bed. All facilities in the room are well-equiped. The toilet was huge as well and there were bath tub with hot and cold water. There were even a plasma huge tv! Price for twin sharing room is NT1540 and NT 2380 for Quad room. Breakfast was included as well. However, all the food for everyday look almost the same. The bed was comfortable and everything was quite new. At night, if you were bored, you could use their internet for surfing.
Nonetheless, I must say the staff was very helpful in helping us to get to our to our place where we want. In taichung, everywhere is cab and its quite cheap, its goes by meter. A 7 seater cab cost the same as a 5 seater cab.
Please buy all the stuff you want in the at the night market because normally back in Taipei you will see the identical stuff but at a double or more price. There are actually one more night market where we wander around but couldnt remember the name. Tai Yang Biscuits please buy it there as well as it originates from there. Manicure is super cheap there as well. Do try to look out where you want to play as normally in the afternoon the shops do not open very early. While we are wandering around, we ate smelly tofu at a food stall. Its definitely the best compared to the one at the night market in tai chung and taipei. The cold noodles was almost very nice. Overall, we felt that Tai chung food was nicer than Taipei.
We went to a themepark called jian hu shan where we took a bus for about 2 hours as cab was too expensive. My friends and I who are themepark lovers, this was the first time when we played until we nearly vommitted. Though there are not many rides, maybe about 8. But it was definitely very exciting and fun. There is almost a discount for students. You could actually ask the receptionist, they will help and guide you.
This is a hotel that is ard 8 mins away from Taichung Pengjia Night market by car. If walk, it will take ard half an hr. We were initially attracted to the hotel cos it claims it is just outside pengjia area (which technically is not wrong but it is not as near as we think)
However since we have 4 persons, it is easier to go by cab cos the cost comes up to ard the same if we take a bus. The hotel staffs are great and they recognize you. We couldn't rem our room number each time, but they can just pass me the key as soon as i approach them. The staff also patiently draw out the places of interest we can go on the map, and guide on how to reach the places. Great service!
Room service is impeccable and the room is just nice for a quad room. The tv in the room is LCD, by the way, which we were quite surprised to see.
Breakfast is included in the price we paid and i would say the breakfast is not bad. There is a selection of congee with a spread of small dishes and toast and salad. Coffee is freshly grounded and there is fresh milk!
Price is very resonable. We book thr the hotel website and only paid ard SGD$28 per pax per night for a quad room.
Nearby the hotel ard 0.5 min walk to the right is a bakery whereby their pineapple tarts are yummy. I search thr the whole taipei and find this one is taichung taste the best, all thanks to the cabbie who told us) The bakey's name is: Junmei
