The hotel was well situated - a 15 minute walk from the riverside restaurant areas; above/next to a large shopping centre with an excellent basement food court; across the road from Raffles; and handy for the SIA hop-on tour bus. All the staff were very friendly and helpful Our executive suite was all that one could expect from a large modern hotel, with a spacious seating and desk area by picture windows with a stunning view over the Singapore river. We took full advantage of the executive lounge for inclusive breakfast, afternoon biscuits and small cakes; evening cocktails, and internet access.

Swissotel is a great hotel. The thing I like most about the hotel is their extensive breakfast and their spacious rooms. The bathrooms are also very clean and spacious. Love the gym, spa, swimming pool, everything!! Get a room in the higher floor and you'll be amazed by the Singapore skyline at night. It is the tallest hotel in Singapore.

The hotel is centrally located in the business district areas. Just above the metro station, Cityhall. So it is convenient to move around from the hotels to major attractions in Singapore. Try Equinox, the restaurant on top of the hotel. It serves a gooooood steak. And a glass of red wine while you enjoy the magnificent view from your seat.

But this hotel can be very crowded during check in, especially in the day. Expect long queues, it would be better if the staff can sweep the lines faster. Other than that, I have nothing to argue.

We booked this hotel for a two night stopover in Singapore on return from India. We were travelling with a 5 year old so wanted somewhere with a little luxury, that would hopefully make our stay easy. We arrived off an overnight flight, and the staff were welcoming on arrival. We were informed we could take a 17th floor room, and when we asked if there were any higher, we were told we could wait for a 55th floor room to become available, so we agreed. On completing check-in formalities, it was necessary to remind the staff that we had a late check out (as printed on the reservation voucher), and we were asked for a $200 'amenities' deposit. Having lost a credit card in an ATM outside the Taj Mahal, not having changed money when arriving as we were heading to a fully booked and paid luxury hotel and having one emergency debit card left that I was unsure of the balance of, it would've been nice to have some warning of this requirement for check in. Of course, the hotel would gladly hold on to $200 cash until I checked out...

After this was sorted out, I gently reminded the check in staff about the extra bed we had paid for through our travel agent and was advised to call the concierge to organise it myself. I know I sound like I must be carrying on about the smallest things here, but don't you pay this much so these things are dealt with and your experience is relatively hassle free?

The room was newly refurbished and was fantastic. The view was an outstanding panoramic view of Singapore. However it took two phone calls to the concierge to get a rollaway bed. The luggage that was brought to our room wasn't ours. Again, more small things that you wouldn't expect to happen in this price bracket. They didn't in most of the hotels we stayed in while in India - and they were a fraction of the price.

The complimentary breakfast in Cafe Swiss was quite honestly awful. You are better off heading to one of the food courts in a mall for decent food!

To the hotel's credit, I did advise them of these issues in an online survey that they asked me to complete after our stay and they returned an email apologising and promising they would look in to it. I hope so, because I would really like to stay here again - but only for the view!

The staff were very pleasant and professional especially in the breakfast dining room. We had a harbour view room with a good view. However it did not seem as if it had been refurburished in recent years although the hotel advertises their rooms are refurburished and ours was certainly not like the advertisement pictures. Ask for a refurburshied room when booking or checking in. We had a problem with the plug not staying down in the bathroom sink and this was quickly fixed.

The internet fee in the business center seemed rather high - S$10 for 15 minutes and it was not open after 6.00pm on weekends.

We stayed at this hotel with our 2 toddlers aged 1.5 & 2.5yrs, I was a little nervous booking this place with 2 such little ones. When we arrived we were very quickly checked in, given and upgrade and a longer checkout time, our bags were bought up quickly and overall a great first impression was made. We were upgraded to a king, corner suite which had ample space, a large bathroom and two balconies, the view was spectacular. The air conditioning was needed and did the job, the drapes blocked out the sun, great for nap times and we never heard another person walking the halls. The buffet breakfast had a large variety and staff were very patient with the my two who wanted to feed themselves!

I will be coming back to stay here, we were very impressed.

well its a nicely built building but looks like 2000 types. it is really huge. got around 70 floors, i liked dining at 70 floor with music and my mate with candle lit and peeping out to the whole lit up city.

u are with ur friend move right to the bar and more sophisticated dining move left to another restaurant. lifts are very fast. 70 floor to ground floor in 30 seconds flat. am sure ur ears too with feel the fall. and ya dress code is must to enter here.

and there is extra charge for city view table but worth it. stay and all are ok, maybe coz its a old structure so dont expect too much out of it.

enjoy!

I have stayed at the Stanford a number of times now when working in Singapore and overall it is a very good hotel in an excellent location. The only drawback i have found is that some of the rooms are a little dated and could do with an update. However the views, particularly on the higher levels, are amazing, the breakfast is excellent and the staff are always helpful and courteous. I would recommend it for tourists and business visitors alike.

We stayed for three nights in Dec/Jan 2010 over NYE. The view of the fireworks was great and the room was good but the Club facilities on Level 60 were very poor.

The first problem is even getting a seat in the lounge. We arrived on our first night at 8.45pm & there was just two seats free at a table of four. All the remaining chairs - about 50 - were taken & the seats & table were pushed very close together. We tried again on the second night but at 5.15PM, drinks served from 5PM, same problem. No seats & very crowded. We gave up after this and prefered to go to a proper bar and pay for our drinks & avoid people squeezing past all the time. Club floor members are meant to get special check in facilities. When we arrived they were busy and we were just given our key on the ground floor & found our own way to the room.

Unlike some other reviewers we were happy with our room. Bathroom was not large but had everything we needed although I hate having the shower over a bath tub rather than a proper walk in shower.

When we arrived in our room at 7.30PM there were two staff members still cleaning it. However they omited to check behind the curtains were we found a empty drink bottle.

The lounge had free wifi plus two internet terminals. Because of the crowding we witnessed a lound dispute between other guests over prolonged use of the internet computer. Perhaps more terminals would solve this problem or the abilioty to hire a laptop from the hotel.

Overall the extra for the Club room was not worth it.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Having seen the rooms online we were disappointed to find ourselves in a dated room which we didn't expect in a hotel of this standard. Having said that the room was spacious and clean and had an impressive view. It would have been nice to have milk rather than dry/powdered creamer for drinks in the room. It would also have been nice to have had complimentary bottled water. On a positive note the porters were very friendly and helpful.

Couldn't ask for a better hotel in Singapore.

The best view of Singapore, great location and efficient staff. I would rather stay here again than somewhere in the Orchard Road area. Walking distance to Clark Quay.

Didn't know that Raffles Hotel is just around the corner. Dont forget to try the legendary Singapore Sling there..

Glad we chose this hotel.

I loved my stay at Swissotel The Stamford. I've been there twice and have returned all smiles with their service . I like it all the more because of the location. There's an MRT station & a shopping mall adjacent to it and a Starbucks too =) The food was good too. I would recommend the hotel to whoever is willing to pay the extra bucks.

Stayed here for a 3 day business trip. Location couldn't be better, bang in the middle of it all, easy access to everything and just about 20 minutes or so to the airport.

Check-in and check-out smooth enough. All other enquiries well answered and with a smile. Laundry correct and on time.

Rooms: I had a very nice, modern corner room or junior suite on the 55th floor, lots of space and a comfy bed. Great bathroom, good full range of no-nonsense Swissotel amenities. Very clean.

Room was good value, breakfast excellent if a little "train-station" busy (as was the lobby all the time....busy.

Bar drinks are very expensive and the bar/club at the top floor (71st floor) was, well, boring to be honest. Drab music, drinks at the top end of the price range (no real problem with that but then at least make sure the music has a bit of zing) and the overall atmosphere uninspiring, so left pretty quickly in search of something more interesting outside.

That aside, it was an excellent stay. Particularly impressed by the tall young lady in Guest Relations whose name escapes me but she was very helpful and always around the lobby.

I have stayed in Swissotels all over (Moscow, Zurich, Berlin, Dusseldorf...), this one is great and up there with the Moscow one.

I was on a business trip in 2007 when i stayed for almost 4 months is this skyscraper.

The hotel has 72 floors, cylindrical in shape, centrally located with city views and harbour views from every window that peeps out of the hotel.

Facilities:

------------

1) Amrita Spa with Sauna and steam bath, Gymnasium, Swimming pool for kids and adults.

2) The hotel hosts 1 Indian Restaurant, Maharani, with authentic Mughali food. It also hosts a Swiss Cafe at level 2, the best place to have a continental breakfast in the city.

3) Hotel has a lounge at level 60, for you to spend your evenings with friends and family. This lounge gives you a view of city's harbour line with Merlion, Singapore Stadium, and with the view of other 5 star hotels.

4) The best part of the hotel is its Disco at level 72, Equinox. You can visit this disc as a guest or as a hotel resident. People say that you can view Indonesia's coastal line from this floor.

5) Hotel basement is a house of departmental store, Market Place, Subway, Burger King and other shops n eateries. You will never have to step out of the hotel in search of food and beverages. You are connected to Raffles City Centre at level 2 and basement. Awesome amalgamation.

Accessibilty:

---------------

The hotel basement opens up in City Hall Metro Station. Hotel also has a fabulous taxi coverage. I never felt any problem in commuting to and from this hotel.

Room & Room Service:

----------------------------

Room is well equipped with internet. Room is spacious with a comfortable bedding. I was lucky to stay at different levels to see different city views during my stay in SG.

Hotel staff is best in class and helps you in each n every manner.

Overall:

---------

Best hotel to stay in Singapore and otherwise.

Great location, in the middle of the colonial district, in a shopping mall, great views, beautiful pool, good bar on the 70th floor, good rooms, good beds, friendly staff, 24 hr Mc Donalds and Starbucks around the corner, above the MRT station. What else need I to say? It is our favorite hotel in Singapore. Ask for a high floor room.

There is no doubt that the Swissotel Stamford is in a great location. It's in the large Raffles City mall, has direct access to the MRT and is linked to a number of underground walkways and malls. Its right next door to the historic Raffles hotel and has views of the harbour which are spectacular.

As a business traveller I stopped staying at the Swissotel a while ago because I felt the rooms were no longer up to scratch. But after seeing the refurbished rooms on the internet I though I would give the hotel another go. But was dissappointed to find myself in a room which I think is well below requirements for a hotel like this. I didnt accept the room and asked to be moved into a refurbished room as appears on the website. After a long delay I was sent off to another room, only to find myself again in a room that hasn't seen an upgrade in 10 years. The view was great, but the room wasnt.

So if your not staying in a refurbished room then be prepared to put up with an extremely tired room that leaves a lot to be desired. From my experience this means stained carpets, old damaged furniture and a 1970' s bathroom. Not the end of the world I guess as the room is still clean and functional and given the location this may be of little importance to many. But dont expect quality.

For me, the dissappointed is that I expect to get what's advertised and what I was given was far from that. Even after requesting a room change, I still didnt get it, even as a Club Swiss Gold member. So I'm afraid the Singapore hotel has lost me again.

One of the best hotels i ever stayed in. The views of the Singapore skyline from the room was incredible and so was the bar on the top floor. There was a great mall just outside the hotel and the MTR station was below the hotel only. The food was great and so was the pool.

A really high quality international hotel in a brilliant location. The MRT and many bus routes radiate from the area around the hotelcity. The Raffles Shopping Centre is aprt of the complex and and the regenerated Marina Bay area is a few minutes walk away.

the hotel is first class. Service was impeccable. Our room on the 64th floor gave amazing views. It was quiet, really comfy and spacious. The downside is that it is not a cheap hotel but quality and location doesn't come cheap. Nor did it have any character. It could have been a first class hotel in any city in the world. Did not use the catering/restaurant facilities of the hotel preferring to go out. With numerous outlets covering every taste and price bracket literally a few steps from the hotel entrance this was not a problem.

My first port of call on a far east tour from UK was Singapore. I arrived early in the morning after the 13 hour flight and pre arranged a room to be made available for me. No problems there. I was warmly greeted at the door and by check in staff. ..quick check-in at desk .. free upgrade, immediate help with luggage and I was in my room within 10 minutes..

I have read some previous reports about the condition of the rooms....I can only speak for myself by my room was clean and roomy ...had everything that I needed in there...view over the harbour was fantastic. I had room service twice...both times they arrived promptly ...food was hot...and quality was good ! General cleanliness of hotel was good.

I stayed there for 4 nights and didn't have one gripe... breakfast was varied and plentiful... staff couldn't do more to help me with any queries I had and arrangements i needed.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone - business, family or couples!

Stayed at this hotel from Oct 28th-Nov 1st. All i can say is that the room was great and clean. I didn't try the pool, but from my window it looked really tempting. The view was really nice.... from my 22nd floor room, really indulged on it! Not an everyday scene you get everyday from your window. One downfall was that the room didn't get any free internet connection, so my Husband had to pay SGD 28/day. Well it was worth it, because we had some business back home that required us to use the internet.

A lot of Qantas Flight member crew were staying there also. They seem to be a regular customer.

Overall, we loved our stay... loved the breakfast...loved the convenient location near the MRT(plus plus plus). Would stay there again.

I stayed two nights recently in a Club Room on Level 69 at the Swissotel Stamford.

View was fantastic. Bed and in-room amenities, including bathroom, showing their age and very dusty in some parts of the cupboard. A packet of M&M's in the fridge had grown mould.

A hot club breakfast would leave a lot to be desired - but for simple cereal and toast, it was fine.

Staff hospitality was very good.

Stay for the view and the location, not the room itself.

I booked a (Grande) room for myself, the Leader of the Opposition (Missus), and the Minister for Frivolous Spending (11YO Daughter) for two nights 17th-18th Nov. via Zuji, and we were all very happy with the price we managed to get it for. So far, so good.

We arrived at reception on check-in, and noticed a distinct air of apprehension re the provision of accommodation for our nipper. She (the 11YO) has stayed at Fairmonts/Marriotts/Hiltons/Sheratons down to basic Days Inn/Holiday Inns all over the world, and is extremely familiar with the behaviour required at whatever "star" level of facility we stay at. She can mix it with the cleaning lady at the Days Inn in Jamaica, or converse openly with the concierge at the Fairmont in Victoria, B.C.....but, it would appear that there is a concern with having children in the suites at the Stamford in Singapore.

We managed to get a trundle bed to our suite (6562) for our daughter, and the staff were extremely helpful with most aspects of our stay, but whenever I went for a walkabout/look-see through the hotel with No.1 daughter and the good wife, we were questioned as to our intentions in that particular area...70th Floor, restaurant, we were dismissed as being, basically, inquisitive people off the street, and politely shown the way out. The Swiss Restaurant on the 2nd Level, we were politely asked how we "should be addressed..?" (What's your room number and name ?) while at the same time, the staff looked as though we might have been something they had recently trodden in. As previously mentioned, my daughter has impeccable manners, but it really means nothing when she is eyed with suspicion whenever we try to go a little up-market.

I think I might save a few bucks next time and not treat the family to a special stay at the Stamford, and simply lob at the Holiday Inn or similar, where at least kids are treated like human beings occasionally. I would not recommend this hotel for family visits.

We had a 26 hour stopover in Singapore on the way back from Thailand where we had 2 weeks for our honeymoon. It was my new husbands birthday so I wanted it to be special. We had visited the New Asia Bar (which is impressive) on the 70th floor of the Stamford 3 yrs earlier during a world trip, so I though it would be nice to stay there. Check in was ok and we got vouchers (through Singapore Airlines) for 50% of breakfast...just as well as it would of cost over £20 each for some fruit and scrambled eggs! The room was disaponting..decor was very 80s, mould and mildew around the bath and shower, other than that it seemed clean enough. All we wanted was a good nights kip before the long day the next day..we werent flying back to the UK untill midnight the next day and needed to be well rested.....my husband got about 4 hours sleep and i got around 3..the bed was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor..correction..the floor was softer I know coz that were I ended up! I had to use the spare pillows and create a make shift matteress! at 2am I did think about calling reception but I would be really unhappy if I got moved and ALL the beds were that bad! Hubby prefers a firmer bed but OMG it was just so hard. On check out I mentioned the uncomfortable nights sleep and all I got was 'thanks for the feedback' so we spent the next 13 hours yawning!! The good point was free use of the Hospitaily Suite to freshen up before our bus came for us at 8.30pm.

After a long flight from South Africa and a short transfer from the airport, arriving at The Stamford was like arriving in heaven. First the glorious air conditioning, the warm welcome, the quick check-in, the free upgrade, a free breakfast (because our flight was early and our room wasn't ready) then the help with luggage and our small kids.

Our room was fantastic. Our breakfast was just what we needed. The pool was inviting.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. To anyone - business, family or couples!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and thought it was worth every penny. We were picked up from the airport. We had great service from the start. For a big hotel they still managed to make the service very personable. We stayed on the executive floor and this was great. From 5-8 they served nibbles and drinks which we met some lovelly people for good conversation. We thought this was very good value. Alcoholic drinks are very expensive in Singapore and we found that we would go up to the lounge enjoy the view with a couple of glasses of wine. Breakfast was also very good which was included. Lucky enough we travelled with our baby and people seemed to love how well behaved our 5 1/2 month baby was!! Our room was on floor 59th with a great view of the harbour and city. The big sliding doors were able to capture this great view - not for people scared of heights but we loved it! We could totally black out our room for an afternoon nap which we always loved with a great flat screem TV! Would definatley stay here again. Also stayed at the Raffles across the road which I will write a review for as well.

I spent 8 nights on the 58 level. Second time at this property and I will return. On this trip I had two bookings first here at the Stamford then 3 nights at InterContinental (in a ClubRoom) I should have made only one booking at the Stamford! Better service, better rooms, bigger flat screen tv, an espresso machine from Lavazza and the Executive Lounge at the Stamford are smaller in size but have more tables and better food. This hotel also have a GREAT SPA very nice pool area. And in the Executive Lounge there is FREE WiFi. On my second night at about 11 pm the AC in my room was dead (that can happen) the handyman came and he told me that the engine was dead. He said it would take about one to two hours to fix it so I should get another room. I did not look forward to pack all my belongings in the middle of the night, but the wonderful staff at the Executive Lounge provided me with another room just for the night and promissed that by the afternoon the next day the AC should be working. So I left my stuff and passed a few doors before I came to my "one night" room. The next morning when I returned to my room at about 8 am the AC was working. During the night the AC had been fixed. That is what I call service. I have read reviews stating that the rooms are outdated. I have stayed in 3 rooms at this hotel and they all looked like the picture on the

swissotel's web page except for one thing this year, the flat screen TV was a lot larger than the one in the picture. I really enjoy this place!

The hotel is located above the MRT (underground railway City Hall station). To and from the Changi Airport, the cheapest way is to take MRT (around fare SGD1.75) and you can avoid bad weather and traffic jam. All the way has air-conditioning and lift to allow you to go with your luggage easily and comfortably. The staff at the lobby is professional and warm. The check-in process was smooth and my room was at 24th floor. When I opened the door, I was surprised that the room was larger than I expected. Verything was clean and tidy. The bathroom had everything you need and the large glass window in the balcony allow you to enjoy the fantastic night view of the Marina Bay. The desk provide a good working area. Three sockets beside the desk are enough to plug notebook PC and other chargers like mobile, digital camera etc.

There are two food court near the hotel, one at the basement and the other at the 3rd floor of the shopping mall to let you try various types of food. There is one supermarket at the basement provide you all drinks and snacks.

The first comment I would like to make is the internet. It is not free and my three days access charged me SGD89.88 which was too expensive. With the widely use of internet to book tickets and check-in for the air-ticket in Singapore, the charge would be a negative image. Nowadays, most of the hotels provide free internet access especially the one serving business customers. I think the management should solve this problem. I would prefer to choose another hotel next time because internet is now a must to me to keep in touch with my friends in facebook and email telling them what I saw and ate instantly.

Secondly, the temperature of the air-cond in the room was too cold even I set it to low fan and warmer. Sometimes, I had to open the door of balcony to get some warm air. Bring your own cloth if you are sensitive to the temperature.

The breakfast was included in the rate of room and it was served at Cafe Swiss (2nd floor). It provides different choice of western, Japanese, Chinese and Malayian. The roof is very high and amply sunshine coming in through the glass make you feel awake in the morning.

We stayed at this hotel, not sure what to expect. The hotel was very busy through the dates of our stay and yet the attention to individual requests was extraordinary. The Director of Guest Relations was particularly wonderful in addressing guest requests. Staff is trained to understand the request and come back with a positive response, even if it takes time. The location of the hotel was perfect. If it's an excellent location in Singapore you're after, then the Swissotel Stamford can surely be hard to beat; it's easily accessed, (and accessible), and makes a stay here much easier, whether you're visitng for business, pleasure, or a mixture of both.

As with some previous viewers, I stay here as it is the accommodation selected by my company and as such I, (a) have no choice over where I stay and, (b), can't reasonably comment on the room rates and their value for money. However, as has also been noted, the Swissotel does seem to revel in charging - and quite exorbitantly - for a lot of services which are (becoming) standard, complementary features of properties of this standard, and without necessarily providing a quality which reflects the price! Internet access is, these days, becoming a necessity for business travellers and a definite deal-breaker with leisure travellers, too, who make use of internet communications to keep in touch while away - so access should not be so expensive, (if there is any charge at all!) Guests who don't wish to fork out for room service or meals in the restaurant should remember the food court in the basement of the adjacent mall, where there is a wide selection of eateries along with a very handy supermarket where you can purchase snacks and beverages which can be stored in the minibar in the room. The food court seems to stay open quite late, (though I've no idea of the exact times), and should you hit Singapore during the monsoons, you don't even need to go outside - fantastic!

Accommodations at the hotel are large and airy, with nice high ceilings and plenty of space, (I can't recall ever being allocated a twin-bedded room, but presume some of this sense of space may be lost in order to accommodate two beds). There is a generously-sized wardrobe, (with plenty of hangers!), which also houses the in-room safe and iron and ironing board, and is where you'll find your bathrobes and slippers, (always a nice touch!) A small minibar contains all the usual sundries; I can't comment on the pricing as I never go near the things, (except to empty them out and restock with my own purchases - something which you can do here as it is not one of those hideous electronic things!), but previous reviews seem to think it is expensive - so head to the supermarket downstairs for supplies.

The generously-sized king bed is flanked by two nightstands with individual lamps. On one of the nightstands is a secondary telephone and an electronic panel which controls the lighting and a/c in the room, and also acts as an alarm clock.

There is the ubiqutous, oversized, flatscreen TV opposite the bed which dominates the room somewhat and seems incongruous within a décor which is very dated and stuck in a late eighties-early nineties timewarp! There is a preponderance of wood (effect) furniture that does nothing to lighten the room, which is otherwise done-out in very safe and sedate shades of browns, beiges and greens, (including a distinctly utilitarian looking carpet which I cannot help but feel needs a jolly good deep clean!) Looking at some of the Swissotel's own publicity material, my room looks nothing like that featured, (do they ever?!) The balcony is appreciated; though the humidity levels might prevent you from lingering too long, it is good to be able to get some 'fresh' air from time to time and appreciate some fine city views, especially at night.

This hotel is large - both in terms of size and capacity - so guests have to expect the usual pluses and minuses that this brings. It functions around-the-clock and is well-equipped for dealing with conference guests and large groups. However, this does mean that it gets busy in public areas and, personally, I find it hard to ever feel 'at home' - it's a relief to get in my room sometimes! Service from staff can be very hit-and-miss, I'm afraid; I have had far more 'sour faces' behind the front desk than I am used to in hotels and while the service itself is usually fine - what needs doing gets done - it is hard to feel valued as a guest, and a customer, when there is little warmth displayed.

The Stamford is not inherently bad, and indeed, many visitors will love it, I am sure. I just can't help feeling that it is resting on its laurels a little, (as a lot of hotels of this size and standing do), sure and certain in the knowledge that they will consistently achieve secure occupancy rates without offering the extras, and standards, which their competitors are providing. Rooms need an overhaul, but I can't see this happening anytime soon unfortunately. I don't know what the rates are like at this place but I would suggest that anyone considering the hotel have a good look around and see what is being offered at comparative properties elsewhere in Singapore.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights on the way back from Japan. I chose the Swissotel from an internet deal on their website. A good overall deal that included breakfast. We had a lovely room on the 50th floor with the most amazing views. Breakfast on the 70th floor was a real treat as was the breakfast, I lost count of the range of dishes. The location was perfect for sightseeing being above the City Hall MRT. This gave us access to just about everywhere we wanted to go. Also getting around on foot was easy. Our room was spacious and of a suitable standard. Access to the wellness spa and pool was a definite plus, particularly in the afternoon after a day of sightseeing in the hot/humid Singapore weather. The only real downside was to have to pay for internet access after three weeks of free access in many other hotels. I would expect in these times, and given the the generally high standard of the hotel, that free internet access should be standard in every room.

Loved my 4-night stay here with my husband and 2 kids. We stayed in a Grand Room at the 28th floor, a corner room that was almost 2 times the size of a standard/deluxe room. It had a king-sized bed and a separate area for the living room which had a big LCD TV, and still a separate area for the workdesk. It also had two balconies...with windows that spanned from ceiling to floor...giving us a great view of Singapore 24/7 One balcony particularly faced the Singapore Flyer and Espalanade! Best of all, our room was renovated, so it had a simple, neat, stylish, modern feel that was perfect. The kids just loved running around the big space we had, which they called "our small home".

The room and bathroom were kept satisfyingly clean by the staff. Just some minor issues with the bathroom: (1) The toilet bowl had some bits of stain that stayed there despite the everyday cleaning. (2) The glass enclosure of the combined shower/bathtub was just halfway through the bathtub so if you turned on the shower strong enough, the water would sprinkle outside the tub, leaving the bathroom floor wet. Beyond that, we really appreciated the fact that the toilet supplies were religiously replenished everyday, with the staff giving us 4 sets of hand towels, face towels and bath towels everyday, enough for the entire family.

Daily Buffet Breakfast (which was included in our rate) at the Cafe Swiss was good too, with a wide selection of food from Continental, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and kid-friendly dishes. Our young kids ate for free too, so that was one extra that I also loved. Only one improvement area is that they should try changing more dishes from day-to-day so that there could be more variety if you eat there daily.

Staff was always courteous and accomodating everywhere..be it at the reception, restaurant or housekeeping. In fact, if you wandered around the reception area, someone was sure to approach you with a smile and ask you if you need anything that they can help you with. Customer Service is surely another thing that this hotel can be proud of!

Finally, location is a plus, being attached to the City Hall MRT Station and to the Raffles City Shopping Center. The latter though is a high-end mall, so don't expect to do most of your shopping here if you are looking for a lot of bargain items. The mall has many decent eating areas too, a well-stocked supermarket and a couple of pharmacy shops...so pretty much everything you need is right at your doorstep.

Net, my family loved our stay here and this hotel will be on the top of our list for our next visit to Singapore.

The hotel is well located above the City Hall MRT station meaning the MRT from Changi Airport stops right underneath the hotel and that all the areas of the city are easily accessible. The hotel is an easy walk from Merlion Park, Raffles Hotel, the Colonial District and Esplanade - Theatres By The Bay making it ideal for sightseeing. Raffles City Shopping Centre is also underneath the hotel and has a food court on the 3rd floor for good, cheap local food.

Our room was a harbour view room on the 31st floor which had fantastic views over Marina Bay, the Padang, Colonial District, CBD and Merlion Park from the balcony. The room itself was large by Asian standards and most importantly it was quiet at night with no noise from neighbouring rooms heard at all. The bed was very hard, but that is normal for Asia.

Breakfast, which was included in our rate, was excellent with two restaurants offering breakfast in the mornings from 6-11am meaning you never had to wait for a table. On the last morning the breakfast was moved to the restaurant on the 70th floor which had amazing views around to Clarke Quay and Fort Canning Hill.

The pool was probably just ok, the pool closest to the Swissotel was really shallow and used by children with the other pool near the Fairmont Hotel being a bit deeper and more useful for adults. There was a poolside bar with drinks and snacks but we didn't use it.

We did not eat at any of the hotel restaurants preferring to eat at foodcourts or local restaurants in Purvis Street as the food is much cheaper at these places.

The staff were always friendly and helpful throughout our stay and we would definitely stay here again if in Singapore.

I was in Singapore for a large expo and was put into this hotel, I didn't select it. I stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is rate 4-stars so what you get is what you would expect at ANY 4-star hotel - you get nothing extra here.

Now, I have come to expect certain things when staying in any 4-star hotel. Most all of them will have free wireless Internet somewhere in the hotel for your use. The Stamford does NOT offer any free Internet anywhere. I was charged 28 SGD per day. A local beer from the mini-refrig cost 26 SGD - that I consider robbery.

I moved to the Grand Plaza Park City Hall and was delighted with this choice. I selected to stay in the Executive Single room. The gave me FREE Internet service in my room, breakfast in the Executive Lounge and their Happy Hour with free drinks and food. Now the cost of my room was only 10 SGD per night more but it saved me much more than that. A local beer from their mini-refrig will only cost you 9 SGD - a much more reasonable price to pay. But, you don't need to buy it if you go up to their Happy Hour each evening from 5 until 7:30pm. I feel the Grand Plaza is the best kept secret

Can't say enough about this location - right on top of Singapore's transit system, malls, restaurants and siteseeing hot spots. You can walk or ride subway to nearly everywhere in Singapore from this location. Great views of city -- pay a little extra (20.00 USD) and get a corner room, for the bigger room and double windows views of Singapore. The hotel is very clean, neat and constantly striving for the best. The staff was fabulous, well versed in the local area and had lots of recommendations for eating outside of the hotel area. There is a great day spa and fitness center that is shared with another hotel --- the services are amazing and very affordable. The two hotels are joined at the pool area, which also serves an amazing breakfast buffet at the outdoor restaurant area.

As I stay at the Swissotel alot for work I have no choice of accomodation. I LOVE the large rooms, and the friendly smiles from the staff in the Foyer, but it is starting to stop there.

Over my last 5 visits, the minibar in my room has gone from FULL to pratically EMPTY. I make a list of what is NOT in the Minibar and take it down to Reception only to receive a a icy response (like I've eaten and drank EVERYTHING!!!!). The Air conditioning is foul, always either too HOT or too COLD and it is NEVER fixed......EVER!

Black hairs in my Bed(s) EVERYTIME. Faint smell of cigarette, even in NON-SMOKING rooms.

Access to Shopping Centre near Group Check-In is now closed, which is ridiculous.

Prices in the Room Service Menu are OUT OF THIS WORLD, as are prices across the board. SGD$6 for a can of coke is BAD. Menu Selection after 11pm is pathetic to say the least.

Men's Sauna/Gym needs (BETTER) Security, as there is ALOT of negative and dirty activity going on. Heterosexual men take NOTE!!! Alot of Airline crew stay here and there is alot of noise at ALL HOURS, in rooms, in hallways, in elevators.

Great views. Pool area is nice. Foyer staff standing around are great. Housekeeping always Happy and welcoming. Rooms are in desperate need of an update.

I love this hotel!

We were upgraded from standard room to executive room upon arrival, how cool was that?

The location is really a plus factor if you're attending a convention to Raffles Convention Centre since it's located in one compound.

There's a huge selection for breakfast too!

Not to forget the staff--- great service!

Definitely, I would love to stay here again!

Pretty much the only thing to say of nice things about this hotel is the view. As a frequent business traveler, this hotel will not do much to accommodate late arrival of airplanes, letters stating detailed expenses needed for reimbursement. Asking for a letter stating the daily cost will not be done by the staff.

There are lots of hotel options in the area and for a business traveler Pan Pacific is a better option with larger and newer rooms and much nicer and bigger bathrooms.

We arrived at this hotel after a long flight from Auckland so it was important that we had a good sleep. Check in was quick and was made more pleasant by the friendly staff that were doing every they could to ensure we had the room on time. Our room was on the 44th floor so the views were absolutely breathtaking. The room itself was tidy, clean and very comfortable. As soon as you got into the beds, you immediately start drifting into sleep because they are so comfortable. I must agree with previous reviews saying that the rooms are different to the ones on the website, but that does not bother me because it is still amazingly comfortable, I am aware that rooms are constantly being updated. Room service breakfast was truly delightful because of the extensive options on offer. The pool saved our lives when we felt too hot. The hotel was located within walking distance of many things including the Funan mall, this was especially useful because we bought a faulty laptop that needed to be returned to the store. We were given a special price on the hotel so we didn't find expensive like in other reviews. We have no plans on coming back to Singapore but there is a possibility in a few years time. My compliment to all the staff that did everything they could to ensure that our stay was simply the best.

When we visited singapore last year, I wanted my children to have a first hand view of singapore on the first day. I zeroed in on Swissotel the Stamford in Raffles Square. Booked the rooms in advance thru their website. We travelled by tigerairways from Bangalore and reached singapore early in the morning. Hired a taxi and drove directly to swissottel. Check in took time. About 1 hour. Waited patiently since we had arrived early. The junior staff at the front desk was reviewing and reviewing his computer screen. Finally after talking to his manager he did arrange for early check in without any extra cost at around 8:00 AM.

We were quite tired but the breathtaking views you get from the balcony did refresh us. Overall the service was good. Value for money? not sure. I would recommend stay here for a day for the great views it offers which is a wonderful sight in itself.

You can also see some wonderful cars parked near the hotel lobby most of the time!

We really didn't know what to expect when we arrived at 1am after a nineteen hour flight! But, everyone at the hotel was really friendly, and willing to help. They even had people standing around, and if you were looking around like you didn't know where to go, they would ask if they could help you.

The location is very convenient to quite a bit, like the Merlion, the Chjimes, and many other areas of interest, including shopping. This town is a shoppers paradise, and the hotel is situated over an underground mall that is connected via tunnels to other malls. There is an entire network of malls and shopping that are all underground, and if you don't like the humidity, you can spend most of your time underground.

However, I wouldn't recommend staying underground, because the sites and scenes are too interesting to pass up. There is the Singapore Flyer, which gives you a good view and historical context of the city. Don't rent a car, though, because the amount you will spend in one week in cabs won't even come close to renting a car! The hotel always has taxis waiting (no matter the time of day), but make sure that if you need to use a credit card, you ask ahead of time. Also, DON"T tip the cabby! If they give you more than just a pick up and drop off, a tip isn't expected. If you do tip, you shouldn't give them more than one Singapore dollar.

I would recommend this city and this hotel to anyone that is looking to stay in a convenient location with high attention to customer service. My only regret is that I couldn't take them back to the US where we don't get this level of customer service any longer, even at some of the higher priced hotels.

Do not trust the pictures you see on their websites. Our rooms are also considered renovated but still looks a little aged. Apart from that beds are comfortable and the views are amazing! Pools are always crowded wif childrens! So didn't use the pool at all. But shopping is convenient n staffs are friendly n professional. Had the harbourview during National Day fireworks. It was simply amazing.

This hotel is amazing. Its wow. Great location, wonderful rooms, what a view. Our room was on the 57th floor and the view was breathtaking. The Metro line is just below the hotel so commuting anywhere in Singapore was so easy and safe. There is a mall too connected with the hotel and all great attractions are at a walking distance except for Orchard road(but that too isnt that far if you take the metro because Singapore is pretty small. just ten minutes in cab). The beds were big and soft, the room was spacious and service was excellent. Unforunately during the trip my mother fell ill and had fever, but the staff was supportive. There is also a doctors clinic in the Raffles shopping mall which is just below the hotel. That made things easy. I loved this hotel and would definitely go again.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. We got a great deal on a Stamford Crest Suite and it did not disappoint. The staff were fantastic and looked after our every need. The team are so professional it seemed we had a team of people just looking after us for the entire stay. As honeymooners we were given room 6556 which i must say has the best view of Singapore an if you're GP fan, you could see the whole track from both of the balconies....what a sight!!!

We loved every minute of our stay, our private "living room" for breakfast and evening cocktails were great, as was our hotel suite itself. Let's not forget the private gym...a nice way to workout without anyone else around...all the while taking in the view of Singapore from the 65th floor!!!

The team are to be commended with a special mention to Polly, our concierge, who personally made sure we got everything we needed, when we needed it......even a Toblerone cocktail at midnight and some last minute bubble wrap to help us pack all of our extra shopping!!!

A definite must if you want a perfect holiday.....great shopping, great location, geat food and exceptional service. We'll definitely be staying again soon.
