I stayed at the Fairmont in December 2009, and I have nothing but praises for this hotel. The room we stayed in (with 2 large double beds) was big and spotless: sheets, towels, pillows all fluffy, clean and white. Housekeeping responded to every request promptly and efficiently, check-in and check-out process was very smooth and quick.
The buffet breakfast was a feast, with a wide a varied selection of hot and cold dishes (international and local fare), fruits, and drinks. Coffee not limited to house blend brewed, but you have a choice of cappuccino or espresso, as well. And breakfast is served until very late, 11:00am, which is a plus if you want a few more hours of sleep!
Location of the hotel is perfect, it is within the Raffles City Mall complex, with great shops and restaurants. Chijmes -- a building with numerous bars and restaurants – is right across the street, and Funan Mall (the IT / electronics mall) is a five minute walk. The City Hall MRT station is beneath the Raffles City Mall, so every other place is easily accessible, including the airport.
I am in Singapore at least twice every year, and have stayed in several 5-star hotels. On a hunch, I decided to try the Fairmont for the first time this December and it was a great decision. I will definitely stay in this hotel again!
Just a tip, as well: for all my trips to Singapore, I use a local travel agent, C & E Holidays (www.cneholidays.com), and I deal with Wendy. They are by far one of the most efficient agents I have ever come across in all my travels abroad. If you are worried about booking and reservations, I highly recommend this agent for all your Singapore needs.
Stayed for 5 nights with family (with 2 children below 9 years) from 30th Dec to 4th Jan 2010. It was a leisure trip to be a part of the new year celebrations. Booked a deluxe room with King bed under advance purchase deal (it was SGD 260 incl. taxes). Room was great with a balcony overlooking the pool. Bathroom was oversized and really a size of mini room. Had a comfortable stay and the kids enjoyed the stay. Pool was good and the kids enjoyed spending time there. Location is excellent. Staff was very friendly and courteous and really helpful. Would stay there again.
Btw, internet was free as I was a Fairmont President's club (othewise it is exorbitantly high at SGD 28 for a day).
Dissatisfaction was that despite mutiple requests (from 3 weeks prior to the stay) for harbour view room, I did not get one. At the time of check-in, I was told that I am getting partial harbour view room but in reality it was limited to getting your head stretched to the maximum from balcony and then you see some buildings! Probably the Fairmont Room (with lower rate) had a better view of the harbour.
After reading all of the glowing reviews I was expecting something special. However, the hotel I stayed in was a run of the mill hotel that was the equivalent of a basic Hilton or Sheraton property. This was not in the same quality range as other Fairmont hotels. There was nothing wrong with the hotel and it was adequate, but it was a bit of a letdown. I guess many of the people writing reviews have never stayed in other Fairmont properties, otherwise they would have been able to differentiate. On the plus side, room service was better than the typical hotel of this class and the restaurant on the ground floor (Italian theme) served a reasonable meal, although $300SGD for a basic meal and cheap bottle of wine was somewhat expensive. This was a busy hotel, so I assume it must have some regulars and it meets their needs. I was in a "deluxe" room that was a lot smaller and less impressive than the photos indicated. The rain shower was indeed nice and the bathrooms had been updated, however, the room overall was smaller than the typical Hilton/Sheraton/Fairmont. In consideration of the price and what I received, while I was not ripped off or overcharged, I don't think I got the best value for the money. I think the Pan Pacific (which is close by) may prove to be a better option for those hoping for a real Fairmont experience. What irked me the most was the way Fairmont seems to fool around with its room pricing. Although I am not a big fan of websites like Orbitz & Travelocity, the pricing from those sites was more explicit and offered better value for the same prouct as the Fairmont website.OK, so I didn't get frequent flyer miles or breakfast, but the $100 lower cost via the travel sites was more attractive than the Fairmont pricing. Fairmont is probably the last of the chains that is unable to offer a reason to book via its website because it offers zero value or savings to do so. Although I booked with "free" internet, the hotel did not deliver on that. I think that's what irked me the most. I can't believe that in this day and age of cheap wifi, that the Fairmont did not offer it to all guests. This is probably the one amenity that some hotels charge for, that costs them repeat guests.
Our friends have blessed us with a night stay in this suite room 2520 on 20 December 2009.
The living room, bedroom and bathroom were spacious and all necessary toiletries were provided too! Excellent!
The location of this hotel is very convenient, next door to the Raffles City Shopping Centre and the City Hall MRT station is just underground! Walking distance to many shopping centres too!
We had complimentary breakfast the next morning and the buffet spread at Prego was superb, with many different kinds of cereals, cold and hot food, desserts and fruits! The only thing was we had to pay for the kids as the complimentary was limited to 2 persons, not sure the cost as it was all paid by our friends!
We spent 7 nights over Christmas at the Fairmont in a Raffles Inc Room which was spacious and comfortable with a great view over the Marina Bay and CBD. Staff in all areas of the hotel were very friendly and efficient. Our rate included breakfast which could be taken at three different locations within the hotel (recommend Prego) and free Moet or other drinks and nibbles between 5pm and 8pm each evening in the Raffles lounge on 23rd floor - also free use of the internet in the lounge if needed. Location is great, right in the middle of Singapore with a MRT below and a good shopping centre with lots of eating options attached. Would recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable central location. Have previously stayed in Exec room at Marina Mandarin but would return to the Fairmont.
Hotel is located at Raffles City and directly above the City hall subway stop (not to be confused with Raffles Place stop...)
We were upgraded since we arrived very late, and the staff were all very helpful. Room was spacious, and rooms in the south tower have a fantastic view of the Esplanade, water and the Merlion. Beds are very comfortable. Highly recommended
We stayed at this excellent hotel for two nights on our journey to Australia, and for two nights on our return journey. We chose the Fairmont having stayed there previously on two occasions in 2007 when it was named Raffles the Plaza. At that time we were so impressed we decided that on any future visit to Singapore we would return to the same hotel.
The hotel really does live up to its 5 star rating, and is well situated in an established part of Singapore directly across the road from the original Raffles Hotel and directly above the excellent Raffles City Shopping Centre and adjacent train station.
The entrance to the hotel is impressive and from the moment you arrive, porters are there with a warm greeting to help with your luggage. We booked a “Raffles Inc” room which had its own reception on the 23rd floor of the hotel, and check in was fast and efficient. We requested and were given a deluxe room in the South Tower overlooking the harbour – the views from the balcony were stunning particularly at night.
The rooms are spotlessly clean and very well equipped and furnished, down to bedside remote control units for curtains, lighting, air-conditioning etc. The rooms have safes (complimentary), bath robes, slippers, tea / coffee and a well stocked reasonably priced mini bar. The bathrooms are excellent with white marble tiles and glass fittings, including a bath and adjacent wet shower area incorporating a rainforest shower. The Raffles Inc rooms included a nightly turn down service, with orchid flowers being left on the bed, and the ice bucket filled. We also had the use of the Raffles Inc. Executive Lounge on the 23rd floor where breakfast was served between 6.30am and 10.30am and also where cocktails and canapés were served between 5.00pm and 8.00pm - a very nice start to the evening! We chose to have breakfast in the Alligator Pear Restaurant on the 8th Floor overlooking the outdoor Pool and there was an excellent choice of hot and cold food.
The hotel has several good restaurants and it is also possible to take meals in the original Raffles Hotel and charge them to your room (reservations needed) – we enjoyed a meal in the Raffles Long Bar Steak House.
The hotel also included the Willowstream Spa which has excellent facilities and a wide range of treatments.
What really makes this hotel stand out is the friendly and efficient service provided by the hotel staff all of whom go out of their way to make your stay special. In particular, we can’t praise highly enough the Duty Manager of Raffle Inc., Sandra Moses and her team who really do provide an excellent service which makes a real difference.
It is fair to say that this is our favourite hotel in the world and we look forward to our next visit.
I stayed at the Fairmont Singapore during November of 2009 and realised what all the fuss was about. The service was impeccable with in-room check in, while the gym and willow stream spa were ideal for relaxation after a long exhausting day.
There was a very warm welcome when we arrived at the door. We had booked a Fairmont room on the internet (their lead in room type) and were informed at the desk that as we were early one of these rooms was not available but if we upgraded to a superior room type we could have a room straight away. This was appealing so we upgraded, however I didn't appreciate being told that the 'Fairmont' rooms are classic rooms and the explanation was that since they were first done in the 80's that nothing had really been changed etc etc trying to put us off the room and pushing us to upgrade. - has a hotel of this grade, charging over £120 for a room really not changed carpet etc for over 20 years? perhaps not, I didn't see the Fairmont rooms in North Tower. Anyway we were taken to our superior room (in South Tower), we had requested a non smoking room however the room we were shown to really stank of cigarettes and there was a bottle full of butt ends on the balcony. So the valet with the luggage rang down and arranged another room for us which was a good smoke free superior room. It was very kind of the reception to call us to double check the room was good and as a goodwill gesture they gave us breakfast included which was very unexpected.Unfortunately the internet did not work inour room the entire stay and one day we waited an hour and a half for someone to call back about fixin it- they told us we should use another cable if we had one as theres must have a problem!-not great. we tried their business centre which had its own internet problems, we eventually went to an internet cafe in little India which worked perfectly at about a tenth of the price of the business centre! (check out Banana Apolo restaurant in little india)
Overall our stay was very good, the Ink bar and its staff were excellent- great cocktails, the breakfast by the lobby was very good, not such good selection or service if you take breakfast by the pool. The location was great as we could walk back from Marina Bay were we spent New Years eve- the conceirge booked us an excellent restaurant and table at a No signboard seafood restaurant that they recommended. The raffles shopping centre attached to the hotel has loads of choice and we had excellent (if pricey) massages at the willow spa at the hotel. the rooms were kept spotless and we were able to leave luggage at the hotel until our return from Thailand in 3 weeks time. All in all a very good hotel, its just a little bit of a shame that there are few Asian accents- it reflects the brand very well but doesn't give you a true flavour of traditional Singapore. I think next time we will stay in Chinatown to be surrounded with a bit more atmosphere than just the malls.
Hi I am staying 80% of time in good hotels. For frequent Singapore trips I discussed with the Fairmont a package for weekly stays.
I had deluxe rooms, with good view, nice new rooms, great service and super location for Singapore. When I could not get a room, the hotel went out of their way to find an additional room for me ... even so I confirmed some of my weekly trips last minute.
I had only breakfast there - great buffet at prego or at the pool - and never lunch or dinner, so no comments there.
Very nice stay at the Fairmont Singapore. I've stayed at a few Fairmont properties in the U.S., Canada, and Asia and I think this may be the nicest. The best amenity of the hotel is its central location. It is adjacent to the Raffles Centre mall with direct access to City Hall MRT. The hotel was mellow, relaxing, and well managed. I had some issues with the WiFi and after several calls and a trip to the front desk, I gave up on trying to connect. They also wanted $10SD to access the computer in the business centre to print my boarding pass (even as a Presidents Club member). The room was very large and housekeeping was exceptional. The pool area was nice and I enjoyed breakfast there a couple times as well. I treated myself to a massage at the Willow Stream Spa. The Masseuse was exceptional. Overall, I was happy with my stay. I got a great deal and could not beat the location.
For the first time, I visited Singapore with zero agenda and zero schedule. My husband was there on business.
I let him do his work--online with the room internet access, phone calls, business meetings, power lunches and whatever. Everything he needed was at his fingertips.
I, on the other hand, could do whatever I wanted. Because it is adjacent to the MRT and there are always cabs available, I could go anywhere anytime...shopping, theatre, sightseeing, food tripping. I could swim in their beautiful pool, have a sumptuous buffet breakfast, go around the adjacent mall. The concierge was particularly helpful when I asked them questions like, "I have 2 free hours, should I go here or there?" I've been to Singapore many times before but this last trip was the most pleasant, so far.
I am a regular traveller to Singapore for business purposes and have stayed in this hotel on at least three different occassions. I had stayed for two weeks during my recent visit and am thrilled with the rooms and at the level of service provided by the staff. The rooms have a contemporary feel and tastefully decorated to appeal to a business traveller. I was upgraded to a higher room class (at no extra cost) since I had checked in early.
The hotel is centrally located in City Hall above the MRT station. The Prego restaurant at level 1 provides multiple selection of cuisines. The spread of breakfast is quite lavish. Since the hotel is situtated along with a mall, there are ample wining and dining opportunities in case you want a break from the hotel restaurants.
This was my 3rd visit to Fairmont and the very fact that I stayed there for the 3rd time in quick succession underlines the fact that it is a very comfortable hotel for people on business. It is conveniently located very near to a MRT station and Raffles Mall. It has great interiors and rooms are large with a great view. Staff is very friendly and reception is remarkably quick wihile check in and check out and for any other queries. It seemed that they were expecting me which makes you feel welcomed unlike any big hotel where they have to search for your reservation etc. The pleasant surprise is that when you arrive from the airport at the hotel entrance, somehow even the doorman addresses by your surname which I cant understand. It happened all 3 times and hence there must be a system/process to it. Definitely recommended for stay.
This was my second time staying at this hotel on business. The very convenient location is the best thing about this hotel as already mentioned many times in other reviewers' comments.
Given its excellent location, the hotel does look very busy and its lobby was crowded almost every day. It is also one of the hotels for airlines' crew.
I had a room in the North Tower on both occasions. The room was comfortable but was lacking modern amenities. It did not have a CD player and the TV did not have a good choice of cable/satellite channels. The DVD player costs extra. It did provide free internet access for members though. The bathroom was also lacking modern amenities. The bathroom's mirror got all steamed up after a shower so I had to wait for a bit before being able to shave.
The staff was nice and helpful.
This is one of the best hotels to stay if your main preference is location and you only need a room to sleep in.
This hotel has improved since being taken over by the Fairmont group. It is located right above the MRT and connected to a air condition mall that connects with three other hotels, all through air condition comfort. From its central location one could travel in 15 minutes to all parts of the city by inexpensive MRT. Cabs are also plentiful 24/7 as I had no trouble getting a cab to the airport at 5am.
The rooms are bright and very comfortable with the controls of light and drapes by your bed side. Two large pools and an excellent fitness center.
Free wifi for Fairmont club members, and I will stay here just based on this feature alone
First of all, would love to thank all the staffs at the fairmont for such a wonderful stay. The service is impeccable. Front desk was kind enough to let us check in early as we need to set up the decor for our nephew birthday celebration. We got the south tower.
We had our cake made to order but delivered to the swissotel stamford but the frontdesk staffs volunteered to collect our cakes and sent it to our room. All calls for request are attended promptly with the most sincere smile!
Rooms are great. (Better than the Swissotel Stamford) and bathrooms are lovely. With branded amenities from "Miller Harris". Room with great view of esplanade and the CDB.
The kids had a great time at the pool too. And locations are definitely unbeatable. Walkin distance to suntec, marina square, bugis and on top of raffles city shopping centre.
The only let down is the parking. No free parking provided. We ended up with a parking of $25 for overnight parking at the Raffles City. Was told by frontdesk that I could opt for valet parking at only $25 unlimited time and in-out of parking.
Overall an enjoyable stay, for the kids and the adult.
I’ve seen good, but Fairmont Singapore is strikingly memorable! My break begun with a surreal bang of courtesy from the wonderful people of Fairmont Singapore, topped with chocolates, flowers, strawberries coated with chocolate, a welcoming message the moment I switched on the TV, a luxurious king-sized bed, a large shower head, and the best of all, a breathtaking view of the Esplanade harbour and city! After too many looong days, and an impending 16-hour work day on Monday, all I needed was a relaxing retreat to soothe out the migraine, with some smiles and laughter to remember that I am well and truly alive. This retreat is definitely it. Having lived in the city of concrete walls and replicas of busy work life, experiencing Fairmont as it really is, in its heartfelt and immensely welcoming form really intrigues me. It was truly a respite. Their warm hospitality and impeccable service really made everything just perfect. A huge special thanks and credits to Mr. Shaik Shidek for pampering my mom and me. I respect his professionalism in delivering the utmost best for Fairmont’s residence. This is my second retreat here in 2 months and I’m loving my enormous dosage of Fairmont already… I certainly look forward to plenty more. Rejuvenating!
I've stayed here several times before when it was Raffles the Plaza, and was pleased to find that it has maintained its standards now rebadged as the Fairmont.
South Tower rooms are clean and functional, with luxury elements like Bose systems - far nicer rooms thanks fussy, chintzy decor in other 5* properties imo.
Service is outstanding - for example, my rooms aircon was made cooler at 3.30am on a Mon morning when i couldn't sleep!
Essentially my favourite hotel in the world to be honest
We stayed at the Fairmont at the end of October. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we were treated like royalty by all the staff. In particlular my 6-yr old daughter was made to feel like a real princess.
The location is 2nd to none - the hotel is connected Raffles City mall which has some good shops. Chimes for restaurants/bars is right next door, the Esplanade is a 10 min walk away, as are Clarke and Boat Quay.
When we checked in, there was a problem with the layout of the room we chose, but this was rectified quickly, and the room we had ( Deluxe category ) was large and well-appointed.
The breakfast selection is vast and again the service is superb.
Business travellers - pls note the Internet connection ( wired ) was very slow.
Overall a great option for business and lesiure travellers in Singapore.
I stood for 5 days during a buiness trip in the Fairmont Singapore. IF been to various places in Singapore (review my contributions) and I can say, that the Fairmont was probably the most luxory one. The rooms, I had a standard room overlooking the Esplanade, are big, very rich equipped, with a private balcony. Comfortable bed, big bathroom and also chair and desk to work.
In my rate I had breakfast included, and this is a big institution: wonderful seating, great service and very, very long buffet. Probably one of the best breakfast I ever had in a hotel.
The wellness area, expecelly the gym I liked most: big, interesting layout and very convienient. The pool area is good, but I have sen better ones in Singapore. Somthing, probably the decoration of the pool area, can be improved while the water and service around is good.
Location: another big plus of the Fairmont - its located in the middle of shopping areas, actually its located in the Raffles City which is a big shopping mall already. Just 5 minutes away from the Esplanade.
Go there and you will not be disappointed - I will return very soon.
The Fairmont is in a great location, opposite Raffles and Chijmes and attached to a decent shopping mall. Clarke Quay/Boat Quay etc a 5 min walk away.
Hotel shares a really nice pool area with the Swisshotel next door - also excellent gym and spa located at the hotel too. Food very good and staff pleasant. Room a bit tired - had a Signature Room and to be honest, it was in need of a refresh - bathroom outdated (weird taps!!??) and just a general feel of the room coming to the end of a cycle prior to upgrading. In summing up - great location, great pool/gym/spa - rooms tired and not value for money - paid similar at Mandarin Oriental, and although location not quite as good (but only 10mins walk away to be honest) rooms/style/comfort at MO way better. If you are not bothered about top end room, would highly recommend!
Stayed here for 1 night on 9.10.09. Frontdesk staff very attentive and provided quality service. had a spacious room with balcony overlooking the hotel's pool and the singapore flyer from a distance. a clean and fantastic hotel. shoppers will love it as the hotel is situated next to shopping mall.
Stayed a few days at the Fairmont and had a great experience. I booked a room in the newer wing with a balcony and had an amazing view of the Singapore skyline.
Everything from check-in to check-out went extremely well, and the room was large, beautifully appointed and spotless. Very nice bathroom as well. Internet access was included with my rate and worked very well.
The location is probably the hotel's biggest plus over some other ones like the Ritz-Carlton. The Fairmont is literally in the middle of everything, with the City Hall subway stop right there. Right next to the hotel is a large upscale shopping mall, and the famous Raffles Hotel is straight across form it.
This is a fantastic 4+ star hotel at a very reasonable rate. I would highly recommend it.
I booked the room on the hotel website with relatively cheap price comparing with other 5-star hotels. I mentioned that I'm celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and requested a room with harbour view as that's the place we fell in love.
The check-in was speedy, and the staff pleasantly informed me that they noted my request and gave us a room with the view. And the room is located at 24th floor, with spectacular view! The staff even surprised us with a birthday cake later in the afternoon.
We're overwhelmed and totally surprised! the cake is delicious and with "happy birthday" letters. the staff sang the happy birthday song for my boyfriend as well!
The room is very spacious and clean. Decent interior design with a balcony facing the pool and Esplanade bay. Housekeeping is very efficient and friendly.
Overally,I am super satisfied with the hotel, and will definitely re-visit it for special event!
I cannot fault one thing about this hotel. the bedrooms were gleaming , spacious and with the most comfortable beds ever, the staff were delightful, the swimming pool excellent, the raffles club staff outstranding, the doorstaff wonderful, the breakfast excellent...while in Singapore I will never even think about staying anywhere else¬
Hi there.. 11th oct 09 my wife undergo minor ops in East Shore Hospital. She is not warded aft the ops.. so i quickly plan of staying in the hotels in town. My 1st cal is to Fairmont Singapore which my wife ever said that it will be nice if 1 day i can bring her to stay there.. I think that day is my best date to bring her there coz she feel so weak aft the ops and i don't want my kiddy to disturb her mum when she back. So after confirm our room and on our way there i received e-call from Shaik Shidek (Resident Services Manager) from that hotels.. So nice of him after he knew that me and wife are comming from hospital he offer us that he himself will wait for our cab to arrive with a wheel-chair... im so touched of his service even wen my wife discharge from the hospital there are no guys there offer us that which my wife walks slowlly by herself.. When we reached Shaik Shidek push my wife wit his collegue up to the room while i do the check-in register and he did update me once he down @ the lobby saying that my wife is already resting on her bed... Im so touched once again.... When i went up to the room yes my wife is resting with a glass of drink prepared by him and so surprised again there is e-bunch of roses with e-card written SPEDDY RECOVERY to my wife.. even myself never bought fowers to her which i know that women love when they received roses.. im so touched.. Thank you so much u guys :)
It is worth signing up to the Fairmont Presidents club (at no extra cost) as when we produced the card at check in we got an automatic up-grade.
The rooms were very spacious and were very modern (we were in the South Tower) - Huge flat screen TVs, massive walk in shower and seperate bath. Very big bathroom with all usual extras.
Lots of different restaurants - fairly expensive but nothing that you wouldnt expect for a hotel of this quality.
The breakfast selection was excellent - we ate at the poolside restaurant. Plenty of room by the pool (we got 4 sunloungers together each day) and this was the Grand Prix weekend when it would have been full (?)
If you were going to stay here for the Grand Prix, Gate 3 was 50 metres from the Hotel and the Suntech centre (where you pick up the tickets was only 1 block away)
it was about 15 mins walk from Clark Quays (vibrant bar area)
Just back from 3 nights at the Fairmont Singapore. I will definitely return.
Incredible staff and service. Pleasant, friendly, and genuinely helpful. I checked in at 2:am - exhausted from a 20 flight. I was greeted with warm smiles, a moist towel, and an exceptionally efficient check-in. The next morning I asked for directions to a nearby venue - the staff didn't just direct me, they actually walked me out of the hotel and all the way to my destination. This happened more than once. Throughout my stay the staff would appproach me and ask if they could be of any assistance.
The room (a standard Fairmont Room) was spotless (it actually gleamed) and beautifully appointed (robe, slippers, the works), large flat screen television - even stereo sound system in the bathroom. The ourdoor pool was quite large enough to swim laps in the morning. I recommend the Italian Restaurant on the 1st Floor for breakfast - delicious.
Of course, perhaps the biggest draw for the Fairmont is it's location. What you've heard is true. It's sits right on top of a MRT (Metro) hub, from which you can reach anywhere in the city - quickly and cheaply. Additionally, the hotel is connected to a very large and modern shopping mall. Besides shops, the mall contains many excellent and affordable eateries.
I suggest an evening drink at the bar atop the Stamford Hotel (next door). The view is amazing!
Forget Raffles (across the street). In my opinion, this is the best hotel in Singapore. It is outstanding in every way. I can find absolutely nothing to criticize.
When we stayed there it was called the 'Raffles City Hotel'. The room we had was clean, spacious and fitted with the usual mod-cons. We especially liked the Bosch sound system which filtered into the lovely spacious bathroom -- which had both a bath and a (rain!) shower.
The location of the hotel is also convenient. You can walk to many of the surrounding malls, or just jump onto the clean and efficient MRT system -- which is just downstairs from the hotel.
My wife and I revisited Singapore for the second time in 2 years and although we stayed at another excellent property in the Marina area last time, we decided to try a different place this time. The Fairmont Singapore more than adequately met our needs. We found it a very stylish upmarket quiet property. The entrance is fairly discreet, the lobby largish but had a subdued classy feel. A welcome change from the busy and noisy hotels used by tourist groups.
We upgraded to a Signature room, it was enormous and had every facility a discerning traveller could require. The hotel shares 2 pools with the adjoining Swissotel Stamford with its 70 floors crowned by the Equinox bar and restaurant ,which gives the best views over Singapore for the price of a drink-though not cheap.
The Fairmont was quiet, but is in the middle of everything in this growing Marina area being on top of one of Singapore's best shopping centres, across the road from Raffles, Chijmes a converted school now the home of numerous quite good and reasonably moderate restaurants. It is a short walk to Suntek City and Marina Square -more shops and restaurants, and an easy walk to the vast selection of dining facilities on Boat Quay on the shores of the Singapore River.
The Fairmont is also right on top of the MTR rail system which gets you everywhere on the island, and very cheaply.
Recommended things to do- take the "Hop on Hop Off" Bus or Hippo Tours round city sightseeing and orientation, more shopping in Orchard Road and at the new Ion Shopping complex-which has ALL the designer labels if you are looking for them, we weren't, the Botanic Gardens and its Orchid Garden, Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari (separate from the Zoo), the Singapore Flyer (their "big wheel") and of course take in the cultural and eating kaleidoscope of the Chinese, Malay, Indian and British Colonial culures which made this city what it is today.
We stayed at the Fairmont for four nights and really enjoyed our stay. We were in fact quite spoilt. The staff are very professional and quietly go about their work quietly and to a very high standard.
We upgraded to the club room which I would strongly recommend. They served Moet and Chandon Champagne and other French wines as well as various spirits. Unfortunately they don't serve cocktails as they say they are limited in space. The food between 5.00pm and 8.00pm is very delicious and of a high quality. There is plenty of choices and the staff are very efficient. One guy was our particularly nice, his name was something like manu... They were dressed in special motor sports outfits due to the F! being held this week. During the day there are plenty of soft drinks and muffins available as well as tea and coffee. The coffee is not the best due to the whitener they use. It is a pleasant place to sit and take in the views. There is only one computer but was always available when we needed it. The staff at the front counter will assist you with any questions.
The conciearge service could be a little better. He was pleasant and helpful enough but always on the phone when we were at the desk.
The rooms are fantastic. They are spacious and have plenty of emenities. The shower is a little strange being next to the bath with no proper recess. The bathroom was meant to be large but we found it to be of an average size. The coffee machine was great but again there was only powdered whitener available so I would suggest buying some milk if you can fit it into the fridge. The turn down service was a luxury, with an orchard left on our bed each night. On arriving to our room we found a huge bowl of fruit and a special box of chocolates left for us, a very nice touch. The automatic blinds were great and easy to use the control system. The coffee machine ran out of water so we called for assistance, to our surprise they filled the system with bottled water even though the water in Singapore is fine to drink but it certainly does make a better cup of coffee. They even supply an electric jug if you want a cup of tea.
They gave us a room with a view of the bay and it was even better than the view in the club room.
Breakfast at Prego was great. They no longer allow you to go to the Swiss Cafe if you have breakfast included in your rates. I really enjoyed the fresh strawberries and blueberries available. The coffee here is perfect and you have a choice of various varieties such as latte and a choice of teas. The croisants were the nicest I have had. All the food was very good. We didn't dine at the club or the pool cafe for breakfast simply because there wasn't as much choice. The only fault was the selection of cold meats looked dry but I gather not many people eat them, it seems that they are provided to add the Italian touch. Try their orange cream on some fresh fruit, it is delicious. They even had a honeycombe on a stand and fresh honey was dripping from it. The breads and muffins are good but with so many other choices available we did not fill up on them.
The foyer is pretty drab and not very exciting or luxurious, I guess it is just a more modern and arty style.
The best thing was the King size bed. It is the most comfortable bed I have had the pleasure of sleeping in and after all considering the length of time spent in it, it is an important aspect.
Check out the Willow Spa Stream, even if you don't use the spa massages available it is still a treat. The spa's are great and the amenities are of a high class, same as the gym. Try the ginger tea available, it is very cleansing.
Thanks go to the staff and management for such a pleasant stay. It made our trip to Singapore very special and memorable. Allowing us a late check out was really generous.
Fairmont is definitely one of the best hotel i have ever stayed. We have stayed in the junior suite for 2 nights. The location is perfect for tourists who would like to rely on the MRT. Also, it is located inside a shopping mall, thus you can easily find food over there.
I like the junior suite very much as the bed is comfortable, the jaguzzi is nice, the LCD TV is big, the coffee maker is cool, and the hotel amenities are sufficient.
In nutshell, i will definitely pay another visit next time.
Stayed for 5 nights and from arrival to departure the service
was impeccable. Wonderfully comfortable rooms and a great location. Ive stayed in a few Fairmonts in Canada and Im glad to say the Singapore branch is keeping
the very high level up in Asia. A wonderful stay and I would have
no hesitation in reccommending to anyone be you in Singapore for
Booked for a 2 night stop in Singapore to catch up with some friends, The Fairmont Singapore did not disappoint! Reception staff were quick and friendly making the check in process a breeze! I was early to check in and so the King room that I had booked was not yet available, but they happily offered a twin room for immediate check in which I gladly accepted (they even upgraded me to a deluxe room!)
I can't give enough positive feedback on this property. The staff were always friendly and helpful, the location is superb, (above the City Hall MRT stop and the Raffles shopping mall. There is a food court in the basement and also a grocery store)
Beds in the twin room were large and comfortable, dressed with lovely soft linens and fluffy pillows. Controls for all lights and curtains were on bedside controllers. There was a Bose cd / radio in the room so that you could play your own music and not get stuck listening to standard hotel background noise and they also had a flat screen tv with cable.
The room came with long hallway, bathrobes, slippers, in room safe, iron and ironing board and a balcony. The bathroom was very large and clean and although I don't think that all the glass necessarily made it easy to keep tidy, it did look really nice!
My only word of warning would be when catching a cab out to the airport from the hotel in the early hours of the morning - they do what is called a 'midnight charge'.. After all my visits in Singapore I've never heard of it, but it did add about $15 to the bill. (Having said that, this was my first crazy early flight out of Singapore so it may just be something I wasn't aware of).
The Fairmont Hotel in Singapore is definately worth a stay. It's location is perfect - only a short taxi ride from the airport, close to Calrke Quay, across the road from Raffles and next to a HUGE shopping centre. The staff couldn't have been more friendly. We were greeted with silk scarves and shown to our room. The room was huge and very modern. There was a balcony but we couldn't see a lot from there. The swimming pool was very clean and during July really wasn't over crowded. The gym was also in a great condition although small. If we were to go back to SIngapore we would stop in the Fairmont again without hessitation!
We spent 3 days in Singapore as a break from travelling on our way to Sydney. It was a fantastic experience and although there was a lot more we could have done, the 3 days were enough for us. It is exceptionally clean, (dropping chewing gum has a huge fine). We managed to fit in the main sights - Raffles for a SIngapore Sling, Clarke Quay (although no where really opens until 11am!), shopping centre (again 11am opening), night safari (excellent but there is a taxi charge if you travel during rush hour), boat trip along Clarke Quay (very informative and relaxing). Over all, a fantastic place to visit and we would definately recommend it to anyone. We got a fantastic deal at the Fairmont Hotel and cannot express how fantastic this hotel was. The location is right across the road from Raffles, next door to a HUGE shopping centre and a short taxi ride from the airport and Clarke Quay. The staff were incredibly friendly too!
Have stayed here a few times before, but this stay was a bit special. Perhaps due to the financial crisis, attention to detail and service improved substantially. Was greeted upon arrival and they already pre-checked in for me. Room was renovated with big desk, lounge chair, and comfortable bed. Bathroom was also renovated, but detailed look revealed some dirt and haphazard finishings between tiles and around the lights. Overall a good facility, although not among the best 5* in terms of hardware. Plenty of shops right downstairs and directly connected to the subway.
We stayed at the Fairmont Singapore for our 25th wedding aniversery as we went there for our honey moon and when the manager Andrea in Prego restaurant heard it was our special time he made it very special.
We recieved champain, flowers, chocolates, and a lovely cake when we went back for dinner that night.
The service was fantastic and we were made to feel very special.
I have stayed here a couple of times and will bring my family soon. The rooms are lovely big clean and very comfotable. You always get a view of some sort , big windows and remote controled blinds (the button is on the bedside clock..took me ages to find that) The staff are fantastic, very helpful and pleasant to you always. I left my mobile phone behind and they wasted no time carefully wrapping it and sending it to Australia registered mail, I got it in a few days. No charge either. The location of the hotel is ideal with a comlex attatched that has pretty much everything. lots of shops MRT restaurants and supermarket on the ground floor. I am pretty fussy with hotels and travel alot this is one of my favourites. Great pool too.
Reviews
Overall, this hotel is excellent!
Would I go back? Definitely!
Fantastic hotel, Amazing service and Superbly friendly/caring staff.
Great location, Excellent views and a true feeling of comfort and care.
It is good hotel near to down town and commercial area with grt view
Bravo Fairmont!

Thank you so much u guys :)
Hotel is perfectly located, directly connected to Raffles Mall and the MRT, quick checkin, friendly staff.
Excellent hotel

Enjoy!
A wonderful stay and I would have
no hesitation in reccommending to anyone be you in Singapore for
business or pleasure to stay here.
Thankyou Andrea and the Fairmont Singapore.
