This is a very nice hotel and caters for all your needs.
I have stayed three times now and once in another hotel which was not as good as this one.
Pleasant staff and very eager to help and make your stay comfortable.
Both western and local breakfast and local buffet lunch available.
Staying again in January and I will add my photo's then.
As a regular visitor to China, and having stayed at many hotels around China, this one did not rate for me.
I depend on a good nights rest and a good breakfast.
Well at least I got the breakfast!
The bed was as hard as stone. It was impossible to sleep on it. I even contemplated sleeping on the floor. in the finish i lay on top of my duvet and wrapped myself in it.
They are also renovating the building and if i did manage to nod off, the building that continued all night soon woke me up.
The constant drone of the fans outside my window and the noisy air con unit the room made my one night stay an unforgettable experience.
As I said, at least the breakfast was ok, if not a little limited in choice.
5 stars?? Maybe 3 - 3.
This is a nice 5 star hotel on Taihu Lake. The room was very nice. Definitely ask for a Lake side view, the view from the other side is terrible. There is internet access and the speed is good. The bed was rock hard and not my style. The air conditioner kept the room too warm in March. The grounds are pretty and you can walk around and enjoy gardens and the lights of the floating restaurant at night. I was traveling on business with a large group and we had a special dinner and the food was very good, accented with local fish. Visit the park at Taihu Lake, it makes for a very relaxing day visting gardens, taking a boat ride and seeing shrines.
I checked in standard single room of Hubin on 20th of Feb stayed until 22nd of Feb this year. It was a pleasant suprise for me because this hotel is similar with late 19th century european style building. Although the name of hotel is chinese, it is very western. I like the garden presentation and water fountain near the entrance. "One world one hotel" is their slogan.
House keeping staff are friendly and helpful. It is near the famous Li garden and senic spots of Lake Taihu. My standard bathroom was decorated with black marbels. The wall over the top of my bed has beautiful plastic flower basket. Wooden floor is shining. It is unusual for chinese hotel for decorating like that. I wish to say that it is an executive style decoration for normal standard room.
Although, location is quiet and peaceful, not many restaurants or shopping plaza near this hotel. Eating out and shopping are inconvenient. Because of the lunar new year, hotel dinning house was very crowded. Only a few staff can communicate with limited english. For most guests, they have to have breakfast or dine in this hotel. I have never tried their food so I have no comment about that.
Only my dissapointment was check in deposit rate is very high with RMB 1000. Financial Transaction was too slow. When I checked out, I paid the room bill and laundary service fee with credit card.
They did not refund my checked in deposit straight away and they said I have to wait sometimes for getting the refund.
It is different from other hotels of china. When I checked out all hotels refunded my check in deposit after paying total bill.
Overall this hotel is very attractive physically. They only need to improve the auditing staff efficiency and communication skills to non chinese speaking background. I recommend for honey moon couples or group travellers with vehicle. Not suitable for budget travellers and lone traveller because it is a bit far from downtown of Wuxi. Half an hour needed to travel to downtown with Taxi.
This hotel has a wonderful British Colonial look and feel combined with a high level of Chinese service and courtesy. Ask for a lake view room and you will enjoy world class 5 star comfort with a great view. The matresses and pillows are as good as any Westin or Sofitel and the hotel also offers a great restaurant, bar and conference facilities. Staff are very friendly and most can speak quite good English. There is also a spa/gym, night club and karaoke rooms in an adjacent complex.
The food is amazing and the hotel draws on local produce from the lake and surrounds.
All in all, a beautiful hotel in a stunning region - a must see when in Jiangsu Province.
I stayed in this hotel last winter. (sorry the information might be a little old.) I actually stayed here in 1995 too.Since then, everything got renervated, including the front loby. I stayed at the executive suite with my family for 5 days.
Let's start with the room. It's super clean and super new. The shower is separate from the bath tub. Big bathroom space, working toilet. (This is important!!) The beds are American size double beds, and they were very comfortable to sleep on.The room was big with enough spaces to open 3 big suit cases! The carpet is very clean, because you have to take off your shoes at the entrance.
Now the service. All of the staffs were very well educated, polite and friendly. They provided excellent services during our stay, and that's probably why we like this hotel so much!
We ate breakfast in hotel every morning. I believe Wuxi is the place to eat THE CHINESE FOOD, and this hotel surely had excellent selections of all of these great foods! I usually don't each much, but I couldn't resist going back and forth between my table and the service bar!
This hotel is located beside the Taihu Lake, so if you have time in the morning, I suggest you to take a walk around the lake. It's very beautiful!
If you don't like living in the city centre with all that polluted air, I crtainly recommend this hotel!
