Very nice hotel all round, part of the Holiday Inn group.

Rooms were very comfortable and clean, we used the laundry sevice which was very good and efficient.

We also used room service which was also very good and the business centre was excellent.

A good hotel in Urumqi.

Xinjiang Grand Hotel, Urumqi was as expected (we stayed there in April 2002, when it was still Holiday Inn). Especially the 2nd stay we got a very nice suite, also the Internet service was excellent. Of course the Western breakfast (we love Chinese food, but not for breakfast...) was excellent too, although some clearer division between Chinese and Western Breakfast would be convenient to find all items

Call me American, but after three weeks of travel in China I landed here and found this hotel extremely comfortable. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone in calm surroundings. Location is great - walking distance to restaurants, a park, shops. Laundry service a bit pricey but efficient. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Classical music (piano and violin) in the evenings along with a gin and tonic in the bar - well, just what I needed. This did not seem to be a hotel full of tour buses. Beds were comfy. I stayed three nights.

This hotel is no longer part of the Holiday Inn Group, though they still have a Holiday Inn burger on the room service menu. We stayed in a suite that had seen better days. A good place for business travellers. The staff are friendly and helpful. We ordered room service one night and 2 out of the 3 meals were cold (fridge cold) and had to be taken downstairs by my partner to heat them up. The breakfast is good and we ate at the Uyghur restaurant which wasn't very good. Would we stay again maybe.

This hotel was a surprise. A hotel in an out of the way place with a minimum of tourists but perfectly accomodating to a tourist. Great rooms and staff. Good location.

This was our first stop on a memorable Silk Road tour last summer. We only stayed one night but we could have easily enjoyed more. The hotel is truly an oasis - perfectly located in the centre of Urumqi, near a vibrant and diverse street market where the locals shop, and near "major" shopping areas of shops and street vendors. Make sure you take the time to walk down the street to the right of the hotel and discover all the sights, scents and tastes of Xinjiang province. Watch out for colourfully dressed Uygar tribes people, and be sure to try out local snacks - stick to the freshly cooked ones, right in front of you. Coffee drinkers - this is the last stop for fresh cappucinos with the complimentary breakfast.
