We recently relocated to Tianjin in August 2006 and stayed here for a few nights. The hotel was new and clean. The bed was a bit hard (but that’s China). The Chinese breakfast was tasty and reasonable, and the restaurant staff were pleasant. We were there for the opening of the Japanese restaurant Furusato and were impressed by the excellent service and good value for money. We still go back!
The hotel staff manning the front desk were pretty mediocre, but that’s standard in many Chinese hotels. I booked the room on Super 8’s website but they had no record of my reservation, which took a bit of back and forth to resolve. An American chain should be able to better.
Still, without many budget options in Tianjin, I would stay here again.
