Despite not being centrally located, the hotel was peaceful and comfortable. It was easy to use the hotel as a base to visit factories in the area. There were not many restaurants within walking distance.
I stayed in this hotel for a week for a training arranged by my company. During the check-in, I was annoyed by their lack of smile and slow work. But later I realized that 90% of the staff there are very helpful and polite. Especially the young lady who cleaned my room and picked up my laundry. The room is stylish, clean and all the supplies are replenished timely. Free internet access from the room. Free drinks in the fridge (including water, soft drinks and beer). Although the TV is a bit small and old style, I have no complaint.
The hotel is located in a quiet area which is less convenient than commercial area. But if you're looking for a safe hotel with nice staff and fresh air, this is the place.
This is a beautiful hotel. Rooms are spacious, well kept, very modern designs. The morning buffett was good as well. It was a great experience staying at this hotel. I would say this hotel is more geared towards business travelers wanting to do business near the factories or corporate offices. Its quite far away from LuWu which is where most of the tourists go. But the cab ride is cheap (20-30RMB) and if you don't mind the drive, this is a great haven away from the hustle and bustle of Shenzhen.
I stayed in this pleasant hotel for two nights on june 29-30.
The hotel is very clean, with lots of daylight everywhere. The staff is friendly and skilled, even if a better knowledge of english or other languages is wished.
Superb pool and excellent restaurant serving mainly lunch and dinner buffets. Very reasonable prices and quality better than average.
Free access to internet in the rooms, free computers in business center, free minibar....
The rooms are spacious and pleasant.
A place I will defintely recommand to business or tourist travellers!
This hotel is new, about 2 years. It is very modern; the rooms are large, the beds excellent, the bathroom large and luxurious.
The hotel has a swimming pool, an exercice room with spa, sauna and massage room. Internet is free for guests and it's fast; the minibar is also free (no hard liquors, two beers and pops)
The hotel restaurant called The Western offers western foods (I guess this is superfluous) at reasonable price; the night buffet is almost overwhelming (mix of Chinese, Japanese and Western foods)
The staff is very friendly and helpful; language is sometimes a problem but they always find somebody to help if needed.
The hotel is located sort of in the suburbs in between downtown and the theme parks. There is a state of the art subway station about 10 mins away.
I have rarely experienced such friendly staff in any hotel.
We were highly impressed by the stylish impeccable design of the Bauhinia hotel. Afficionados of modern architecture will love the facade of this place, and in terms of interior design the reception, lobby and ground floor restaurant areas are really pleasant places.
We requested a roll-away bed in our standard room for our five year old child, knowing that such a request is usually 'forgotten', either ridicously charged for. Not this time. The very nice lady at the reception first apologized for the 'small room size' now the roll-away bed was added. She suggested that we could consider an upgrade if we thought this would be too uncomfortable. She anyhow accompanied us to the room to check our findings. The curiious thing was this being a standard room with an extra bed still gave the impression of a rather spacy retreat. Again we were impressed by the nice interior design, the cleanliness, the freshness and newness of the large bathroom, the wide and clean hallways, in fact: everything. The week before we stayed in Hong Kong in an overpriced, impersonal hotel with claustrophobic rooms: this was a relief!!
The hotel facilities, garden, swimmingpool, gym, massage parlour, were all top class. Buffet breakfast and hot pot dinner buffet were of good quality and variety and extremely reasonable priced. One might argue that this have of rest and contemporary design is too far off Shenzhen city center (approx. 15 km), but in return you get a nice quiet place and won't be bothered by the big city burstle. The Shenzhen theme parcs - nice to spend half a day in - are only 5 minutes by taxi, or two metro stops. One morning we wanted to visit downtown Shenzhen and asked the nice lady at the reception for a taxi. Then she recommended us to go by metro: quicker, more efficient and cheaper. She showed us how to walk to the nearest station in hardly 5 minutes. In fact she wanted to accompany us, but apologized for not being able since she was on duty. Off course it was peanuts to find the metro stop, but hardly ever we have encountered such great personal and attentive service in an Chinese hotel.
The Bauhinia is rated 4 stars - but is truly deserves five!
The Novotel Shenzhen would have to be up there on my list of best value for money hotels. I have stayed in Shenzhen several times and this hotel is by far the best in terms of value and quality. In terms of ratings it is probably a four to five star hotel. Be aware that the staff speak only minimal english, just enough to get by.
The hotel is about a 15 minute cab ride from LoWu border which will set you back around RMB80 ish. If you book here, ask the hotel to email you the name and address in Chinese characters to give to the cab driver.
The hotel is located around 5 minutes walk to the nearest underground station which is on the line that takes you to LoWu, the journey takes around half an hour and is very cheap!
The hotel also has a pool, restaurant and bar as well as the usual laundry facilities you'd expect in a hotel of this standard. The biggest bargain is the breakfast. A full hot cooked buffet breakfast for RMB35. The selection is both western and chinese.
The rooms are of five star standard. A very comfortable king size bed (see photos), alarm clock, tv with cable channels, balcony and a bathroom that I would like to have in my home! The rooms are large and spacious by Shenzhen standards. Lots of bathroom goodies and also free internet, which is not amazingly quick but hey it's free!
Strangely enough there is also a florist located just near reception in case you want to buy some last minute flowers for your room. I'm still a bit mystified why that is there but I guess there must be a market for it.
I'd gladly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers.
It's a good choice to stay in the Bauhinia Novetel if you plan to visit the main theme parks in ShenZhen i.e. Cultural Park, Amusement Park (Huanle Gu) or the Windows of the World. Though it's a bit far from the town but conveniently linked by the underground. Moreover, you won't see crowds of people around the hotel like some other hotels do in the city centre,
I stayed at this hotel the other day and absolutely loved it. I usually stay at the Nan Hai in Shekou, but after they raised their rates astronomically in the 6 weeks since I stayed there last I tried another hotel in Shekou, which was barely tolerable and then moved to the Bauhinia on the recommendation of a friend.
The hotel is very nice. Decor is cool. The restuarant is OK, although I only eat breakfast in hotels, so I can't recommend it for any other meals. The facilities are quite nice. The room was great, nicely decorated. I would recommend a threshold in the shower, no door and the water tends to flow to the drain in the main part of the bathroom, but that is my only complaint. Best of all it was less than 400 RMB. You can get cheaper, but not nicer. And most hotels that are relatively easy for foreigners to use are more, some much more.
You do need to grab a cab to get around, and cabs in Shenzhen are relatively pricey, but that is no big deal, I usually do it anyway.
I will definitely stay here again, I plan to return this weekend and will use in for my future visits to Shenzhen.
I am currently staying at this hotel, and has done so for the past 3 nights. This hotel has decent facilities for the business traveler: the TV has a few English speaking channels (CNN, HBO, MTV) and more importantly for me the room comes with complimentary broadband for internet use.
The room is clean. the bed is good, and all amenities are well provided. Another astounding aspect of this hotel is that the consumption of anything in the minibar is complimentary (both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks and mineral water) as well as a pack of peanuts. The mini bar is refreshed on a daily basis. Most of the personnel speak English reasonably well.
The only drawback about this hotel is that you will need a taxi to go to anywhere else for dining or shopping, etc. Nothing is within walking distance of this hotel, as it is located largely on an industrial/residential zone.
All in all, a great business hotel with good facilities.
