We stayed a week and could not fault this hotel. If your finances permit stay on the 6th floor in the main hotel. The room is superb, the service impeccable and the golf wonderful.
A minor language problem presents when it comes to golf but throughout the hotel an exceptionally helpful English speaking person will be found within seconds. We are seasoned 5 star travellers and highly recommend this resort to golfers.
Have just returned from 2 nights at Mission Hills resort. It was excellent. Our room was in the main Resort with a balcony overlooking one of the golf courses, also lit up at night. The room was huge with luxury bathroom, all looked new. All the staff were really helpful and the buffet breakfast a feast. You can use the free shuttle to go between the other Clubhouse and Sport Centre. It is easy and cheap to get to from Hong Kong by taxi from the border. The golf courses are brilliant and you can have a choice of several. The 5 star accommodation and meals is inexpensive but the golf expensive. If you are not into golf there is not a lot to do if it is not hot enough to hang out by the pools butyou can go shopping in Shenzhen half an hour away. I would definitely recommend this for golf or time out. I have to admit it was nearly impossible to make a booking and get information from them but it is definitely worth the effort.
We visited Mission Hills touted by the Owners as the best Golf resort in the World !
This is a huge over statement, I will start with the lack of dining options, bars & entertainment available. The Spa is like a ghost town full of run down tennis courts with no one playing & childrens playgrounds.
The walls in the Hotel rooms are Paper thin & the fixtures , fittings & attention to detil is poor to say the least, this does not even rate as a two star hotel, it's all show & no substance.
To top in off I would not open your window on the fairway view of a night time unless you want to witness people walking around in the dark with buckets that smell like a porto loo speading who knows what on the ground.
Golf was OK nothing special, hotel & resort very sub standard, this is a perfect example of when being big certainly does not mean good.
Just a review of Mission Hills Country Club and a warning to Americans. I am an avid golfer; have played for more than 40 years and have never been treated so poorly just simply trying to get information. I sent dozens of emails to their various email addresses over a one year period and NEVER got a response. I was in ShenZhen for the Autumn Festival so i decided to just go their and get information in person. My wife is Chinese and I have been considering living at Mission Hills in the winter. I explained my needs to the reception girl when we arrived and she said she would find the "membership director" for us. 5 minutes later she returned with no explanation why the director was not available and gave me some outdated literature about the courses. She then showed us around the clubhouse but would not let us see any of the other facilities or the courses themselves. I excused us from her "tour" did some shopping for gifts and we left. I will say every girl in the HUGE shopping areas spoke very good English and were very kind and professional. It's my opinion they do not want american business at the courses themselves. When i returned I tried unsuccessfully to make golf and stay reservations at their "5-star" resort. Seems they dont want americans here either!!! I have the distinct impression the Hong Kong owner wants Asians only here. I've played all over the world including Cypress Point and Pebble Beach and I was looking forward to playing some of the fine Mission Hills courses.................and maybe joining..............but no more!
We have been visiting China for 20 days.. most of them spent in three, four and five stars hotels.
We decided to sleep at Mission Hills after being in Hong Kong. Mission Hills is the most famose golf resort in China: it has 10 golf courses designed by the most famouse players.
We booked a double room by internet for 55 euro/night, in the Savhanna Wings, which is not the main bulding, but a 8 floor biulding 5 minutes from the reception. They have shuttle buses taking you everywhere for free inside the resort.
Arriving from HK, we were delighted with what we found. A quite atmosphere, relaxing, charming, with 60 m2 rooms, with modern kitchen and a beautifull bathroom.. The room was overlooking on the "Els Course", where you can play in the night under the lights.
For non-golfer, the resort has a big swimming pool, and a SPA with all the treatments you may need (foot massage, sport massage, etc etc). The breakfast is simply incredible, with everything you may desire in the morning. I could not try the restaurant, but just the Cafè, where I had a lunch that was ok. I should have expected to pay more for extras (breakfast, lunch, SPA) considering the exclusivity of this resort, but I was surprised to been asked for 20 euro for a 5star 60 minutes massage or 10 euros for lunch.
For golf players, you can really spend a month there, playing in the day and in the night on 10 - 18 holes courses, at a very reasonable price.
The location of the resort is ok: it is 40 minutes from the Shenzen airport (the second biggest airport of China) and 30/40 minutes from the nearest borderline to Honk Kong.
Shopping centers are just 20 minutes away. They can arrange taxi or van to take you wherever you want.
I'm not used to review hotels with this tone and these words (see my other reviews). But, during my stay in China, this was really the best experience we had. If you are a golfer, this is a must. If you are a non golfer, this is the right way to get out from the crowed China for a couple of days, relaxing and getting ready to start again (bussinnese or holidays).
Living in China for 1 year, I have stayed in places ranging from 'typical' chinese hotels to many 5 star hotels from popular hotel chains. This hotel has everything someone staying over for only a few days up to months could ever need. All bussiness facilities are excellent as well are the possibilities for recreation. If you're staying over the weekend, this is the place to go. Everything is in house and connections to every place you would like to go, from Guangzhou to Hong Kong to Macau, transportation is easily available at any time of the day. Located just outside the city, it's a place where you can find rest as well as entertainment. In short, at least worth a visit, even if it's just for the 10 magnificent golf courses it has.
