Nice hotel though I can't believe it's #1 in SZ. I would rate it as a high 4*. Stayed over a weekend so area and hotel were really quiet. Room is nice, w all amenities, but small for China. Saw both king room and two twins. Maybe about 300 sq ft total...really not much larger than the rooms in nice hotels in Hong Kong.

Best thing is that the hotel is relatively new so everything is spotless and in good condition. Gym is nice and new and big. Pool was unremarkable on the 4th floor.

Staff's english comprehension is terrible but they were trying to be helpful and were polite. It was funny, I kept asking about a 'shopping mall' but they didn't know. They only knew when I said 'shopping' it self.

Area wise it's in a business district so dead over the wkend. Metro 2 blks away, also near Huang Guang border w HK. Lowu about 30-40RMB cab ride. CocoPark mall closeby, but not much to buy there.

Overall it's certainly a nice hotel, but I don't think it's the best.

We just adored this hotel. The price was great, too!

- Amazing dinner buffet!

- Beautiful, clean, quiet rooms.

- Fast internet.

- Excellent, accommodating staff. We had a great deal of help exchanging money, arranging transportation to Hong Kong, and were even escorted to the post office to mail a package. I believe it was Jimmy and John who went above and beyond for us.

We’d highly recommend the Marco Polo Shenzhen!

Very Nice hotel, huge gym, beautiful outdoor pool, good size rooms, new and clean environment.

Service is pretty sketchy..

Club lounge food in the evening was practically inedible, bartender at Wall Street Bar was extremely rude, concierge

was clueless and even marks the wrong locations on map,

in general the staff is nice but not trained well.

Would try the Sheraton next time..if it wasn't good would go back to Marco Polo.

Stayed at this hotel for a conference. The conference is walking distance from the hotel (15 minutes or so). The room was spacious and well equipped although I dislike rooms that have the desk in the same room as the bed. Everything was clean and quiet. Internet worked fine. Turndown service needs work. The hotel staff would put a card on my door at 11pm saying that they couldn’t do turndown service because the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign was out. Sorry, but 11pm for turn down service is too late. The fitness facility is one of the best I have seen anywhere in the world, short of the Four Seasons on Kona. The Sushi restaurant in the hotel was very good. This is a stellar hotel and warrants every one of the 5 stars it gets.

This was our second visit to Shenzhen on business and we decided to try a different hotel this time. We were glad we did as we very impressed by the Marco Polo (and better value). The location was nice, close to shops (Coco Park) and the impressive City Hall precinct. The facilites were great. We can recommend the massages; and be sure to say hello from "Mr Beautiful" to Winnie and Niki behind the bar and the singer Xavier in the Wall Street Club; we spent a number of evenings there and had a great time.

I'd also recommend paying the few extra dollars for the Club rooms. The buffet breakfast and various extra perks were all worthwhile and the staff very friendly and helpful. i can also recommend all the other eating facilities.

Overall a great experience. Next time in Shenzhen, we'll definitely be back.

Outstanding hotel, booked for us by hosts in Shenzhen, at about 90$ per night. Staff were extraordinarily courteous and attentive. Situated in main business/commercial district, plenty of shopping, dining opportunities in the area. Can only recommend this hotel.

Stayed for 3 nights in Marco Polo Shenzhen, which was really very enjoyable. The rooms are very nice, with wonderful bathroom and gorgeous views of the city. The breakfast very good ( we had a club room). The staff in club very helpful. We had some drinks in a lobby bar, and one grill dinner in Marco Polo cafe, which was really good and pretty cheap for the variety of food you get.

I can really recommend the concierge Michael, who was very helpful and obliging all the time. I can definitely recommend this hotel.

The Marco Polo in Shenzhen, Guangdong China is a much too lavish place to stay if you're only there for one night. A friend booked the King Suite for my business trip and it had plenty of amenties that I never got to use.

The staff was professional and friendly and many do speak English. You can use the business area allows to access internet and print documents for a charge of 20RMB per hour (as of June 2007) or arrange for meetings in the quite and inviting lounge area. I didn't have a big appetite during my stay, but I do recall the breakfast offering a variety of cuisine.

Stayed for a week at the Marco Polo, Shenzhen. It is a wonderful propertly very near to Metro station. Must insist on a corner room, which has windows on two sides of the room for a wonderful view of the city.

This is THE place to stay in Shenzhen.

1. The value for the money is unbelievable. For a little more than $100 a night, I got a gorgeous, ultra modern, super comfortable, fantastic room that would cost $500 (or more) in Hong Kong. It is simply one of the most luxurious hotels I have stayed in my life.

Plus, I got one free 60 minute spa treatment and free breakfast buffet every day for that low price. This is the hands down best hotel bargain I've ever had in my life.

2. The fitness center is large, modern, and fantastically equipped. One of the best hotels gyms I have ever seen.

3. The restaurant on the first floor is awesome. I usually try to avoid the buffets, but his one is so fantastic that I couldn't help but stuff my face every day. The dinner, in particular, is fantastic.

4. There is a large mall just one block away. I think it was called the Living Mall, but it has tons of stores and dozens of different places to eat.

5. The bus to cross the border into Hong Kong comes right the front door. If you're going to Hong Kong or the airport, it is very easy from this hotel.

My only real complaint about the hotel was its location. It really isn't close to any of the tourist spots, so it is more of a business hotel. On the other hand, Shenzhen isn't much of a tourist destination anyway.

I can't speak for anyone else, but this is the only place I will ever stay in Shenzhen is this fantastic hotel

I booked the hotel as part of a business trip around China seeing factories, and stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. What an incredibly well organized hotel, with highly trained and friendly staff. The rooms were wonderful - incredibly thoughtful designs with all the mod cons, including the rain shower. All the details had been thought of, right down to the Valrhona chocolate next to my bed every night. After a subpar experience at a Chinese hotel in Shanghai this was far, far better.

I would also stop to point out the delicious breakfast, particularly the noodles, congee and some of the baked goods.

Great hotel, would defnitely stay there again.

I travel a lot - both for leisure and for business. Almost every time You go to different places and stay everytime at a new hotel. You always arrive as a stranger and only very few hotel meet You like You are someone special and very important. Marco Polo hotel is the one.

Staff is really well prepared and happy to meet every guest and will try to make You happy with the stay as well. Everybody smiles and isreally ready to assist in any situation.

The rooms of the hotel are morden and well equiped, bathroom with the huge windows instead of one of the walls with the view to the city - in upper floors, will really make You say 'wow'! Breakfast buffet is just great.

I wish all of You a pleasant stay!

This was our first trip to China. After arriving at Hong Kong International Airport, we transferred to Shenzhen by shutle van, to encounter chaos at the China border. Traffic was also chaotic in Shenzhen, however, when we arrived at the Marco Polo we were very impressed by the architecture of the building and the eagerness of the staff to please.

The lobby and public areas were beautiful. The room was very well appointed and tastefully decorated with a modern decor. The room also featured a plasma flat screened television with at least a half dozen English channels, free internet access, complimentary bottled water, very good bathroom amenities, bath robes, and the largest and most plush towels I ever encountered in a hotel anywhere.

Our room rate included a buffet breakfast each morning, offering everything you would expect to find at any high end breakfast at a good Western hotel. The eggs were cooked to order with delicious crisp bacon, ham or sausage, yogurt, granola, pancakes, toast, preserves, assorted fruit juices, croissants and pastries, etc. The buffet also featured Dim Sum and other oriental offerings. Oh, and the coffee was very good also!

Ther location was good with easy access to the exhibition centre. There was a large mall two blocks away with a number of restaurants and bars. The modern subway system was also accessed at the mall. Shenzhen is a very large city with an abundance of stunning skyscrapers.

The Marco Polo is an impressive true 5 star hotel. With a rate of just over $100 U.S. per night, this hotel offers incredable value. When I return to Shenzhen I will definately stay at the Marco Polo!
