Hotel is first rate. If it were not for the smog, I would bring my family there. I know my children would love to play in the pool with the tall ship within. Rooms are large, well appointed and clean. The service was prompt and helpful.

Went there with my friends to celebrate Christmas at Pipette, French restaurant.

The restaurant is stylish and decorated with Christmas red, nice and elegant. food was real French and service was excellent. i will for sure go back again!

Overall this was a great hotel. Coming from rather compact Hong Kong, these were some of the largest rooms I have seen in China and were excellently appointed.

The Spanish themed decor was a bit unexpected (especially the doormen dressed in full matador regalia) but didn't detract from the pleasant surroundings.

The grounds, and especially the pool, are fantastic. Nice for people traveling with children.

Good service, too. I would recommend this hotel.

The Intercontinental Hotel Shenzhen - Rooms are nice, luxurious. Best part is the huge bath / spa. TVs in the bathroom. The Garden Balcony is very nice A little too large of a complex for my taste, reminds me of Las Vegas. Walk forever to find your room. However, it is a great facility. Fitness center is top notch! Best fitness center I've encountered in Asia so far. Garden and restaurants are very good. Spanish themed, so it is kind of interesting, fun - bulls everywhere. Location is not so good for walking to shops or anything. The only walkable location is the China Folk Village.

Fully agree with the previous reviewer's comments. The spanish theme just seems, well, incongruous. Especially the costumes worn in the lobby (the "matadors" with pink socks especially). The pictures and symbols of bulls literally everywhere was also sometimes a bit too much.

All that aside, the hotel is a very fine one. The rooms are spotless, modern, spacious and well-designed. Amazing bathrooms / showers. Can't fault anything really, except perhaps the TV lineup for non-Chinese speakers is a bit limited.

The restaurants are great. I especially like the Indochina one, the ambience and food are truly excellent.

The fitness centers and pools are also top notch. Fantastic outdoor pool with real sandy beach (seems to be a common trend these days for resorts).

All in all, a great place to stay in for business or pleasure.

I have to say that this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The staff are very friendly, always looking to help and with a genuine smile.

I do have to say I'm baffled by the Spanish theme however. And whoever thought the bellboys had to dress as Matadors in Orange vests and Pink socks I believe has a severe case of color blindness.

This of course does nothing to detract from the quality of the hotel.

A very good South American band were playing in the Galleon club/bar whilst I was there. Conclusion: I look forward to coming back!

The facilities in this hotel are top notch, complemented by the vibrant yet sophisticated decor. Staffing is abundant and very attentive.

We booked the lowest priced room directly through the hotel's website. The stated size of the room is 50 sq. meters. It doesn't feel that large when you enter the room, because a lot of area has gone to the bathroom and wardrobe; nonetheless, it doesn't feel cramped. The soft lighting and perfect climate control gives the room a wonderful ambiance. The beds are very comfortable, though a little high to get on. The large flat-screen TV is linked to a Bose DVD hi-fi system, and you can bring your own discs to play.

The bathroom is simply luxurious. The shower and WC are in separate compartments, with glass partitions and doors. There's a rainforest shower head which is exhilarating. The bathtub is large (two could fit intimately), with cascading water spout. A flat screen TV faces the tub, and the window blinds are electrically operated.

Our room faced a construction site, which was probably the hotel's expansion area. Fortunately there wasn't much work being done and we didn't hear a noise. If a view is important to you then request a room facing the pool.

Outside of the room: The outdoor pool is more like a lake, complete with real-sand beach, a waterfall and poolside bar. The heated indoor pool is competition-sized, with a jacuzzi at one end. There's also a small jacuzzi in the changing room (with TV), in addition to a sauna, steam room and cold plunge. Gym equipment is state-of-the-art.

One thing I noticed is the number of staff on duty in the pool, gym and changing areas. They are everywhere, to the point that I felt I was being watched while soaking in the jacuzzi. Perhaps they're there to ensure the guests' safety; I just needed a little time to get used to it.

We had the dinner buffet in the hotel's restaurant. At about RMB 300 a head, it's not cheap. But the food is scrumptious and the selection plentiful. The desserts are excellent. I think it's quite worth the price, this coming from someone who doesn't really like buffet style dinners.

It's hard to find fault with this hotel, and I would surely come visit again.

Initially plan to book Crowne Plaza as it is right next to Happy Valley Theme Park. But accidentally came across inter con and decided to try it as it was brand new and has a man made beach. The "beach" was much better and bigger than expected. My 2 kids have a great time building sand castle and refuse to leave. Though the outdoor pool water is cool about 20C in Dec they do have a 25m indoor heated pool with jacuzzi. Our deluxe pool view room was huge with private balcony and have a big bathtub with "hotspring mini waterfall " flowing into it. You feel like you are enjoying a japanese hot spa using it. Not only that ,you can also enjoy watching TV while having your "spa bath". People thought Shenzhen is a boring place but with this hotel and 3 theme parks around it we will definitely come back again.

The topic will get your attention, and I can't believe I am writing this but just look at the photo I look of the control panel of the toilet!

I have a suite overlooking the excellent swimming pool (with a pirate ship!). There are 3 LCD TVs in the suite (2 in normal room as far as I know) - 1 in living room, 1 in bedroom and 1 in bathroom. The bathroom is excellent with separate bath and shower. Bath tub is round in shape, big enough to fit 2 or 3 person and facing the TV in the bathroom.

A lot of red and black in the deco, not exactly Spain but not bad. Broadband connection is free throughout the stay. Lobby lounge is very modern and great place for a drink. I didn't really like the breakfast that much but it is ok as well.

One tip: if you don't have a lot of luggage and arrive from Hong Kong, take the metro. The metro stop is just at the doorstep of the hotel. It is much faster and way cheaper.

I am not sure if this is a resort or a hotel but I would love to come back here for weekends to enjoy the facilities (and do you know you can get 3 hours massage (1 hour foot, 2 hours body) for RMB90 in Shenzhen?! That is less than US$15!

I think this is probably the second best Intercontinental hotels I have stayed in after Paris.

New hotel, we where there in May, when it was still in soft opening mode.

Upgrade to a two room suite, very nice, but you need to get used to the color combinations in the room.

Big rooms, nice pool, great Breakfast. So far the best hotel in Shenzhen.

We stayed there one night just to try out a new hotel. It has exceeded our expectation. The hotel, of course brand new, has a Spanish theme, interesting and also a little funny at first. We got upgraded to a suite and the deco in this room was nice with expensive materials. The hotel is huge, the room is spacious, hallways are large. It also has a huge outdoor pool with a man-made sandy beach. Buffet breakfast was great with many selections. Its location is very convenient, right by the metro station, but also very quiet and isolated. It was a soft opening, so the personel was not competely ready, but we can see that they are doing their best. We will be back in August, hopefully able to get a good deal again.
