Visiting Shenzhen about 8 times in the last 5 years, the last 6 trips I've stayed at the Four Points by Sheraton.
It's a modern looking hotel with comfortable rooms and 2 good restaurants.
If you are after a non-smoking room you may need to be prepared to wait at check-in. On several visits I've been offered an upgraded room if I would accept a smokers room. I accepted it the first time but the mild smell was too much for my sensitive self. Subsequently I have always asked to have the non-smoking room I booked.
Generally the hotel is a good business hotel with many positive points (staff friendly, food good) but don't be surprised if in the early hours your sleep is interrupted with the beeping horns of frustrated car drivers in traffic jams on the nearby motorway. This has happened on most of my visits there. If I remembered at check-in I'd request a room facing the other way...
I'll be there again at the beginning of November so perhaps this time I'll remember!
Even with the early morning (0500-0700hrs) car horns, this is the best place to stay if you are visiting the Shenzehn free trade zone.
I booked this hotel at the Lowu border which I later found out to be more expensive than walking in. We got a room with a view of the river that runs between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. It's refreshing to see a view like this in Shenzhen. The overall service of the staff was excellent even though I called the operator for room service and he asked me to speak Mandarin! The hotel is in top shape and it offers about 4 restaurants in the same building. I just had two main problems with Four Points. I had dinner at 10:20pm one night and half way through dinner the air conditioning was switched off. The staff said there was nothing they could do about this. This really ruined my dinner so we ended up paying the bill and leaving. The only problem with the room was when I showered the water went very hot suddenly. I was sold a Four Points Starwwood card by one of the waiters for $2008YMB which gives me 2 nights free, dinner buffer for 2, 50% off my meals at any of the Starwood Affliated in Asia. I thought I got a good deal but after reading here of someone getting a room for about 800YMB with 2 buffet dinners I hope I haven't been ripped off. If you travel from Hong Kong or vice versa, you can catch the Train to LOK MA CHAU station and walk about 400 meters to the hotel. I guess I can say that I will definately stay there again since I have bought the card from them!
I have stay in Four point htl on my eastern holiday, i nade the reservation in htl web site, this is sunday special brunch package
it just cost RMB 750++, room is assigned in the new wing, include two buffect lunch, the htl roomis clean and new decoration, htl service and food is very good,i will stay there next time.
Although it lacks a large array of facilities -- no pool etc -- this is a very good choice. It's convenient enough (only 5 mins taxi from the Huanggang border separating Shenzhen and Hong Kong) but there's not a huge amount to do in the immediate area (it's right next to the Futian Free Trade Zone, or whatever they call it nowadays). Still, what the hey. The staff are great (extremely polite and English speaking) and the rooms are what you expect from a business hotel. It's a fairly new property so everything is still looking fresh. You have to pay for internet (RMB 50 for 24 hours), but that's not bad. I've stayed in loads of places that charge a lot more. The bar downstairs is not a bad place to go for a couple of beers (a bottle of Asahi costs RMB40, which seems a little excessive to me). They have a gym and a couple of restaurants which look pretty good...I didn't try them out however.
All in all a solid choice and I will return. Reasonably priced, great staff and easy to get to from HK.
We stayed at this hotel on Dec 15, 2007. We were in room 1515 -- which gave us a great view of the water in front.
We were surprised that this hotel was so clean and very well maintained. Very classy, and the rooms were all supplied with the toiletries, comfortable bed, slippers and robe, etc. We almost forgot that we were in China and not in North America. Comparatively, in North America, the same hotel would have been up one grade - like a Westin or Sheraton.
Would definitely stay here again. The only bad point is that it is away from the busy "downtown" core. However, cab rides are relatively cheap here. It cost us $40 rmb to ride from the train station (KCR) to the hotel, which translates to about $5-6 Cdn.
I have now stayed at the Novotel Bauhinia and the Four Points in Shenzhen and they can not be compared. The Four Points shines. It is one of the better Four Points I have staid in Asia and for China, one of the better hotels I have stayed in. You will notice that F&B prices may be slightly higher than other establishments around but the quality and service are much better. The rooms are bright and comfortable with large bathrooms. Watch out for the outdoor jacuzzi though, bathing in your fridge might be warmer... Will return!
I found the Four Points to be one of the best business hotels, as well as one of thebest values, that I have found in China. The rooms were comfortable, the service excellent, and the fitness center and sauna/spa area quite spacious. I also appreciated the fact that the breakfast buffet did a good job with its Western offerings (something many China hotels can't quite manage). You'll want to make sure the hotel is close to wherever it is you need to be, as traffic in Shenzhen can be horrendous. That said, I made several trips to the Bao-An industrial district and was usually able to get there within an hour by car during traffic hour. The Four Points is pretty self-contained, which is important as the location is a bit isolated and you will need to take a cab to any of Shenzhen's commercial & shopping districts, but I found the tradeoff of comfort and value to be well worth it. My only nits: availability of hot water in the morning was a bit sketchy as was the responsiveness of the in-room temperature controls. Neither problem was serious enough to be more than an inconvenience.
First off - the hotel is in the Futian district. It is inconvenient if you are coming by train from Hong Kong via Lowu. However, it is very convenient if a) you are coming by ferry from HK or elsewhere in the Pearl River Delta; b) if you come by bus through Huang gang border crossing; c) if you are going to/from the airport; d) if you have business near the export processing zone; or e) for some shopping (esp for furniture) in the Futian district.
About the hotel - it is an attractive property, not over the top, but certainly worthy of a Starwood property. The rooms were pleasant and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast buuffet was vast in its selection, and was very good. If I needed to be in the area, or if I needed to catch a flight from Shenzhen airport, I would definitely consider the Four Points.
Friendly nice clean safe, Very good food in the Panache restaurant good value for the money. Close 5 min to one of the crossings to Hong kong. God communication easy with Taxi. Breakfast is excellent but maybe a little expensive (You can't eat everything). Very nice staff. I recommend this place to any one, have been sleeping in hundreds of hotels in over 20 years of travel.
good business center, top level meeting facilities!
OK, The take out coffee in the coffee shop is to expensive !
After you stay, please follow up with an posting here to verify
The Four Points by Sheraton is a very efficient and clean place to stay in SZ.
The rooms are well furnished and offer "slow" internet connection free of charge. The bathrooms are small, but functional. The rooms have a nice close area and a safe big enough to store a large laptop and addional gadgets.
During my stay the pool and gym were being renovated and were not available. The restaurants were pretty good and the staff was always trying their best to satisfy client's needs/wishes, but for some staff members English is a problem.
The hotel is about 20-30 minutes from downtown, but taxis are cheap. Make sure to have directions written in Mandarin or you will be in trouble. Always carry your hotel address in Mandarin and make sure you also have the phone number in case you need to call for help. Taxi drivers do not speak English!
When in SZ, make sure to visit the China Folk Culture Villages. Much in the same spirit of the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. Stay for the 7:30 pm show that takes place at the Phoenix Plaza each day. Other performances take place during the day at various locations. If you coming by Subway, it is the station before the last. Subway trip only costs RMB 5 (compare to a Coke at RMB 6).
From the HKK airport to SZ I took the SkyLimo at counters A1 at the airport. It costs around $20.00 - $25.00. If you are staying in this part of town (Futian Free Trade Zone) it is easier and faster to cross the border at Huang Gang. I make the trip from HKK to the hotel in around 1 hour. The way back was closer to 2 hours. So, if catching a flight, please make sure you have enough time.
I would have no problem in recommending this property and would stay here again when back in SZ.

Nice, clean hotel. Great gym. So-so location, but you can say that about must of Shenzhen since it's spread out and has no real core.

Really nice Hotel, quite modern, great service and fine food.
We stayed there for 5 nights and could not fault this hotel.
Staff were very attentive, the food was great and hotel rooms very nice.
There was nothing of interest in the area located, but there was always a taxi available and they were cheap as chips and reliable.
Did not use spa or pool facilities as it was winter there.
