Convenient location just round the corner once you exit Lao Jie subway station. It is tucked away behind the corner, and the façade is terribly run-down, so keep your eyes peeled. [From the subway turnstiles, turn right, down the passageway and then up the stairs in front of the bakery/confectionery shop. You should eventually see the signboard if you walk right down the street, look out for a hairdresser on your right, and a seafood restaurant across the street on the left and you are on the right track].

Reception doesn’t speak much English, and isn’t of a world-class standard (i.e. you might take time explaining your needs etc even if you speak Chinese), but they are polite enough. Don’t be put off by the façade and lobby as the rooms are clean, comfortable, and enormous (especially if you’ve come from HK). Location right next to Dongmen means you’ll be kept busy without having to even take the subway at all.

Fantastic value.

First of all, the location is great! It is just about 200 metres once u get off from the Lao Jie MTR. Friendly approach by the bell boy. The reception did ask us if we would like to upgrade our double bed to 2 metre width for extra RMB50 but I insisted that I do not want to pay for extra. But somehow we were upgraded for free. The room was super comfortable. The bed was soft and fluffy pillows and silky smooth linen. The only downside was the room was a bit smoky. Not sure where it is coming from but I suspect it could be from the air conditioning vent. Improvement could be done on English communication as I find this at a very low rate of understanding. But overall, it is a very good hotel to stay in. Recommended for all travelers!!

We arrived in Shenzhen and wanted to go straight to the hotel, so walked out of the train station and were inundated with offers to go shopping at the centre next door. We declined and walked towards the road, and decided we would try find the hotel with the map we had. It was a long walk but we did eventually find the Days Inn, and had a easy check in. The room was really lovely, large king bed, seating and bathroom etc. The staff in reception were very helpful and gave us cards with destinations written in Chinese to give to taxi drivers. The Days Inn is within walking distance of a huge shopping mall. They are like our city malls in Perth, Australia, and 'm sure other cities in Oz. Breakfast was also good in the restaurant on the 5th floor.

We had the best nights sleep, the bed was so comfortable. Check out was easy and they looked after our luggage until the afternoon before we left to go back to Hong Kong.

The Days Inn isn't close to the railway station if you're intending on shopping there, but in saying that, taxi's are so cheap, if i come again, i'd just use them to get me to and from. There are so many taxis here also, you have no problem getting one.

We stayed in the Days Inn Shenzhen for 1 night. We booked through Hrs.de and paid 47 Euros, including breakfast. When we arrived, we took an upgrade for 10 Euros and got the suite. The room is nice, nothing spectacular, but clean, spacy, etc. They have a lot of "stimulating" attributes in the room which you can purchase, so wonder what kind of people come there :)

The staff was reasonably good in English.

The breakfast was a mix of European/Chinese. Not bad, though nothing spectacular.

The location is really good, right next to the Dongmen shopping street.

-The toiletpaper is really good compared to other places in Asia :)

-Beware, even if you show the cabdriver the location and signs in Chinese, you are most likely to be driven to the Days hotel about 10 minutes from the Days Inn. It happened 2 out of 2 times to us. But how to explain the cabdriver that you need to go to Days Inn instead of Days, even with map/Chinese signs? :)

All in all a good deal.

The good stuff first. Days Inn has a great location, just round the corner is Dongmen Street, where you find lots of shops and eating joints. The room is fairly large and roomy, so are the bathrooms. The place is generally quite clean.

This is why I would never come back. The day I checked in, we noticed there was this horrid sewage smell in the bathroom. House keeping came to check it out and said they'd solved the problem. So my family happily went out shopping thinking we'd be able to come back and have a good night's rest, problem resolved. Lo and behold, when we got back, the smell was worse than ever! We called house keeping for help but the fellow only came back to spray some freshner into the trap. Sure that helps, for 5 minutes! We called the Reception for a change of room and they said sorry, peak season, no rooms left at all. No doubt this was during the Lunar New Year, but surely they'd have at least 2 rooms spare somewhere?!?!

Needless to say, we couldn't use the bathroom at all. We had no choice but put up with the sewage smell. Determined that we would not spend another night in this horrid room, we went down to the Reception first thing in the morning and requested for a change in room. After a very long while, they said they'd put our request on hold and could only confirm after check-outs in the afternoon. We moved all our belongings to a family member's room, for convenience of moving. We were on a tour package, so we had to leave for our day's programme and would only get back in the evening.

When we got back to the hotel in the evening, surprise surprise the Reception had no clue of our request!!! After a long while taken to call the morning manager on duty and a check on the availability of rooms, they reluctantly upgraded us for free to the next available room. I'm not even being fussy about the room, just requesting for a decent room that doesn't stink like the sewers. They could have done way better. This disgruntled (and paying good money!) customer will not be back.

Had read the good reviews on tripadvisor and decided to check out the hotel. Very convenient to get to from Lo Wu station via the metro and the hotel is excellent if you want to shop til u drop.

Walked in off the street and got a rate of RMB 480 for a deluxe room (well worth the upgrade). Ask to see the room first, you wont be disappointed. Excellent size, clean and modern.

Only complaint was thats despite being on the 8th (top floor), outside noise was bad not helped by the fact that the bedroom window didnt close properly.

Would definitely recommend.

As this was our first time with Days Inn we were upgraded to a deluxe room, which was very spacious. Because we were very pleased with location, clean rooms and price we ended up booking this hotel at the end of the trip. Used elong to book- most effecient. Location is close to the subway ( very easy to use) and just around the corner from the Dongmen Market, which we found more enjoyable than the Luohu commercial market. Really enjoyed the restaurant across the road from the hotel.

Stay at the Days Inn from 26-27 Nov 07

The hotel is very easy to locate, take the train from Lo Wu station, alight at 2nd stop Lao Jie, use exit B, once on street level U will see the Days Inn sign post which point to the right, than at the road junction turn right again and Bingo, the hotel is there. Around 10 min walk from train station, cost 2 RMB per pax.

Tickets machine at train station only accept coins and 5 & 10 RMB note, so make sue u have small change. If not than just get something from the shops in the train station to break your note.

Overall the hotel is nice, but the whole of it reeks of cigarettes smell, best to ask for the non-smoking floor which is on the 5th level, same as the Sunshine restaurant. We have a deluxe room which is big, could easily add an extra bed in the room, there’s a small electric kettle for you to boil water or make tea & coffee; only sore point is it does not have a bath tub, only a shower area and no hair dryer.

The service staff is excellence, most front desk person have a good understanding of English; a call to house keeping and within 5 min they bring you your request. When asking for suggestion on where to shop n dine, they are able to give valuable info & direction. One guy even wrote down the name of the shopping mall & area in Chinese for us, in case we are lost and need to ask around. Breakfast buffet (30 RMB per pax) is only so so, some mixture of western n Chinese foods nothing great.

If u want some junk food than there is a MacDonald, KFC & Pizza Hut for you, plus Star Bucks coffee just behind the hotel.

The hotel is in a most convenient location as the famous “Dong Men Lao Jie” is just behind it, an area where you could get cheap bargain on clothing, bags, shoes, & accessories. There’s a mall call White horse some thing (on 2nd level) which is a whole seller centre for clothing & bags, this is where u can get stuff cheaply.

The whole area is like a maze as there’s no clear indication of where you are other than some signage telling u what each floor sell, and every exit bring u out to different section of the area; thus u will get lost easily, buy whatever u wanted to buy cos u can forget about going back to that shop n get what u miss earlier on, unless u have a fantastic memory cos every stall looks the same.

The walk way is very narrow and with many people from across the region coming here to replenish their stock be prepare to be bump against by the local, u will likely get hit by the big plastic bag they lug around, and I do mean “big bags”. Only plus point here is the whole area is smoke free as the government prohibit smoking in there.

I stayed at this hotel for 8 nights. It is definitely a 4 star hotel as rated on most websites. The cost was $70/night for the business suite (with kitchen) and it included a very nice breakfast buffet every morning. The staff is very friendly and courteous and most speak English (rare in China). The room in general was luxurious, complete with cable TV (HBO, ESPN, etc.) and internet connection. The bathroom, even though it had no bathtub (as is typical in China) was very nicely done. The hotel provides free toothbrushes, shampoo, lotion, combs, etc. in the room. I would definitely recommend upgrading from the standard room (very small) for the extra $5. The room had an electronic key and a door bell and the king size bed was soft (also rare in Asia). The hotel is very new and there was no smell of smoke in the room. There was a hair dryer and flashlight in the room. Two small bottled waters are provided free of charge daily. Also upon request they will provide iron, ironing board and other amenities. There is a hot water pot in the room for coffee and tea in the minibar area. Also a safe and a refrigerator. There were two robes and slippers in the room (nice touch). The room was very clean and serviced promptly daily. There is a business center in the lobby for computer and business-type needs. I recommend their western restaurant (good and cheap) but if you choose to eat at the Chinese restaurant in the hotel please know that it is not connected to the hotel and you will have to pay cash for your meal (I found out the hard way on my first day without any local money yet). You cannot charge the meal to your room and they do not take credit cards. The hotel is located in a very busy business district (Luohu) with lots of shopping nearby. There is KFC, Pizza Hut , McDonalds and Starbucks very close by for those craving American food.

I was very pleased with this hotel, I highly recommend it as an outstanding value and would definitely stay there again.

Days Inn is a nice little property near the center of town, wholesale markets galore.

Room was pretty big, compared to our HK room but this is Shenzhen. Pretty nice amenities.

Breakfast was ok.

Staff was extremely helpful (especially charles... in charge!)

Highly recommend this place.

Stayed for 1 night while shopping in Shenzhen.

Place is clean, rooms are large and modern.

Staff are friendly and the doomen were very helpful with directions when required.

This hotel is located right next to the Dongmen markets and the MTR.

Paid RMB$429 for the room including breakfast excellent value.

Only thing to note they appear to be starting to build next door to the hotel so this could impact on the noise levels shortly otherwise no complaints what so ever and will definitly be returning next year.

Stayed in this hotel one night, booked a deluxe room for approx £40 a night. The room was fanastic. Much better than the quality of days inn we had stayed in in the USA.

Staff were helpful even though thier English wasn't to the same standard as hotel staff in Hong Kong. (But it was much better than our Cantonese!).

Room was huge and very nice, bathroom also huge and very nice. Very clean. The whole hotel was of excellent quality.

We ate in the Sunshine cafe (Western and Asian food). Food was of very high quality and both my husband and I ate well with two beers each for around £5 per head!

One thing to note; The street outside was fairly noisy, even past 2am on a Sunday night. As the windows are not double glazed if you are a light sleeper I would ask for a room away from the street. But a fanastic bargain overall.

For a basic, comfortable stay, the Days Inn delivered. The quality, however, was nothing compared to what we're used to when we think of the Days Inn brand. We live in Hong Kong and can tell you from experience that there are better deals in Shenzhen than what you'll find at the Days Inn.

Here are a few of our complaints:

-The lobby, restaurant and lounge were dark at all times and didn't create a very good impression of the hotel as a whole (nor did the song they played in the lobby that looped over and over for the two days we were there)

-The lighting in our room was terrible. It's nice being back from Shenzhen and actually be able to see myself in the mirror!

-The fridge in the mini-bar was warm (they told us this was "normal" and couldn't be changed)

-The air-conditioner didn't work, and we were hard pressed to find anyone who spoke enough English to communicate this problem to

-The breakfast buffet was very poor

Here's what we liked:

-The door men. Very helpful and friendly.

All in all, we'd recommend paying a little more elsewhere to get a lot more in facilities, value, service, etc.

stayed here for one night as we were passing thorugh from hong kong.

nice and clean and had the excellent staff. in particluar, the bellboy provided excellent service. he provided the early morning shuttle bus to the airport and was able teach me how to identifiy counterfeit notes (which was bit too late as i already got scammed by illegal dvd sellers with four 100 yuan notes. do not follow dvd sellers in shenzhen as they will pass on counterfeit notes right under your nose).

it's location is quite good as it's 2 minute walk from one of the metro stations and 3 minute walk to the major shopping area (dong ha mun market).

The hotel is about 100m from Luo Jie MTR (two stops from Luo Hu, train and MTR end of the line station). Take the subway’s exit A, then right and right again. It is a bit difficult to find at first, and I was just about to give up to try another hotel when I saw a sign for the hotel. It was well worth it as the hotel is new and an upper 4 star category. To someone who had just been backpaking in Yunan it was heaven on earth.

The rooms are enormous with a comfy double sofa and writing desk. The bed linen had good quality crisp cotton sheets and the towels and bathrobes, in the limestone clad bathroom, are white and comfortingly thick.

The area outside around the hotel is very crowded and lively with many shops and restaurants that stay open late at night. But as the hotel is tucked away at the rear of the retail area it is quiet. However, the plot next to the hotel has been excavated and hoarded up and a new building is bound to spring up in the near future.

We stayed here for two nights during the Canton Fair and were very impressed. Booked using wotif, we managed to secure a deluxe room (not the basic room), for about $65. The room was enormous, with a huge bed, writing desk, TV and airconditioning.

The great thing about the Days Inn in Shenzhen is that it's brand new, and they've made sure the hotel looks the part. It feels like a luxyry hotel - the marble bathroom is big with a huge shower area and the airconditioning is controlled digitally by setting the temperature to the appropriate degree.

Location: It's not right next to the Luo Hu train station, but two stops away on the metro. In practice, it takes about ten minutes if you know what you're doing. The hotel is right behind the metro station and is really close to loads of shops, restaurants and office buildings. We were quite disorganised and didn't have a map of Shenzhen or the name of the hotel in characters. Tried to get a taxi but in the end we stumbled across the hotel since it's so near to the metro station. Pretty lucky!

Didn't try the restuarant so don't know what that's like. There's a hotel bar in the lobby which is never very exciting, but good if you're waiting around for someone to meet you at the hotel. An imported beer will set you back about 20RBM or £1.50. There's a mini bar in the room, but you get two bottles of mineral water free.

Staff were friendly, although English wasn't as good as in Hong Kong. Trying to get them to deliver an iron to the room was difficult but they managed to understand eventually! Someone

brought it up to the room, set it up and left it with us.

Internet is free, and there's an ethernet cable in each room. It's just a matter of plugging in your laptop to the socket. The internet didn't work in our room, so they moved us to a different one on the same floor, which was fine.

Otherwise a pretty good place to stay. The location was excellent, and as I mentioned before - everything being so new means the hotel feels very comfortable. I would definitely recommend upgrading your room, although I didn't see the standard room. For an extra $10US a night, it's probaly worth it. The hotel rate compares quite favourably to the Shangri La, which hasn't had terribly good reviews on this site.
