This place is awesome. I had the opportunities to work in Shenzhen and this is the hotel we stayed at. Great staffs and you can pretty much get anything you want. Great food, great location. The subway station is only across the street and it takes you all the way to Lo Wu which has a great shopping mall and other great hotels like Shagari la (check spelling).
Rooms are huge and the bathrooms are big as well (I've stayed in standard and business suites). Always clean.
We ended up being really impressed with the hotel. My husband was here on business (we had spent a few days in Hong Kong first) and the corporate rate of 900 rmb was a good deal. It's nicely decorated in a Venitian theme. The rooms were clean and a comfortable size.
We had drinks /snacks one night at the bar next to the pool. The outdoor pool is in a great setting with a canopy over it. The Italian grill restaurant Blue was very tasty. It can get spendy there, but we ended up spending around $100 US dollars for 2 glasses of wine, appetizer, 2 pasta dishes, and a side.
The hotel is right next to the last stop on the subway line. It takes about 30 minutes to other end of the line, which is where the train station is located. The airport is about 40 miinutes away.
The hotel is next to some cheesy tourist attractions like Window to the World, a park with smaller creations of landmarks like the Eiffel tower. There is also another park nearby that recreates Chinese sights like the Great Wall.
i travelled for business to Shenzhen in the beginnig of january. I booked a room in Crowne Plaza, via the hotel website, I received corporate rate which was under 100 eur per night, which is surprisingly low for a Crowne Plaza. therefore I was a little suspicious of the quality, but wehn i finally arrived, i was taken aback by the level of service given by the stuff and the overall atmosphere of the hotel.
The shenzhen Crowne Plaza is made after Venetian style, with gondolas at the main entrance, paintings and sculptures all around the hotel, and staff dressed in seaman clothing.
The rooms are very big and comfortable. They provide fresh fruit, enough drinking water (you should not drink tapwater). free internet and other business services are also available. They even have iPod docking stations with speakers which a really appreciated.
fFttness facilities (pool, sauna, gym) can also be used free of charge.
The staff is very polite and helpful, and you cannot wonder for a minute without somebody stepping up tp you and asking if they may help. The amazing thing is that they do this in a not-irritating manner.
Breakfast is more than enaough, with selection of Continental , British and Chinese courses. They have the best orange juice I have ever had the opprotunity to taste.
The location of the hotel is good, next to the main road, opposite to the Amusement Park, called the Window of the World.
All in all, I can only recommend this hotel. it is very reasonably priced (aspecially for US and european pricing levels) and provides the experience of being a VIP to everyone who stays there.
I have stayed in the Ventian multiple times (probably over 15) over the last two and a half years. It is a hotel that has a very consistent degree of service and value. The rooms have always been very comfortable, the staff very attentive, and the process of checking in and out very expedient. I speak this from experience in staying in multiple Shenzhen hotels.
For business entertainment, the bar at the hotel is very convenient and a good choice.
The pool at the hotel is very nice and the gym is a good one as well.
For dinner you can try both the restaurants in the hotel - both western/buffet style, and the Chinese restaurant are good. The Italian
restaurant (on the second floor) is a bit overpriced.
Dinner wise you can also go to some of the local restaurants near by -- if you step outside of the hotel and start heading up the hill in the opposite direction of the Windows of the World park, you will come
across a good Chinese and a good Indonesian restaurant.
This is a review I should have written long ago. I am here thinking about it as I plan my next trip to Shenzhen, China for later this month.
I have stayed at the Crown Plaza a number of times, and have nothing but great things to say about it. The rooms are clean, the service is great. From the moment your cab or car pulls up to drop you off at the hotel, the excellent customer service begins.
The hotel, including rooms, is very clean. There is a nice wine bar down stairs. The buffet breakfast includes Chinese and Western breakfasts, with a huge selection of pastries.
They have wonderful restaurant (only tried one of the many there) called JK. Short for Japanese/Korean, I believe. Teppenyaki is an option. The Kobe beef is wonderful, though fairly expensive for most persons. It is not a problem if you do not speak Mandarin, as most all of the staff you will interact with speaks English. I do not know if French or other languages are accomodated, however, I have a feeling that they would be as well.
There is also a dance club, V bar, that plays live music on some nights.
I reccomend this hotel for any business person, or even couples that want a nice base to view the area from. If you are there strictly for relaxation, there is a spa that looked to be very popular.
Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights before going to Hongkong. It is surely the best hotel I have ever stayed in Shenzhen. Good rooms, good breakfast, great pool area. Service is very unsteady, but they try to keep it high. They will definitely try harder, since there are a couple of new hotels opening soon in Shenzhen. Anyway I can recommend it so far.
I stayed in this hotel for 10 days during a convention at the new Shenzhen Congress Centre. The location is not very central to what others call "downtown" Shenzhen (if this exists at all in this modern city that totally lacks the European concept of urbanity). However, it is closely located next to the new metro system and taxis are rather cheap. The hotel itsef is located next to two theme parks - for those who like this type of fake reality.
The facilities are great - pool, gym, rooms, restaurants - everthing of the best. The outdoor pool area and the adjacent night club are quite busy at certain nights attacting a lot of locals as well. Internet access (broadband) is for free, not of the latest super-high speed, but free....the rooms are well appointed and really comparable to a 4-star in Europe. As others said, the Venetian theme for the hotel is a bit far fetched, but Chinese seem to like it a lot and the staff take it with dignity. They are of outstanding friendliness and are trying everything to make your stay enjoyable.
Stayed for 2 nights on Business. The Hotel is in a good safe location in Shenzhen, next to the window to the world park. The Venitian theme and dress of the staff is a bit silly but they try their best. Overall a good experience but more 4Star Hong Kong style than 5 Star. The business floor has great rooms and the cocktail hour an excellent selection of drinks. The food overall is superb, I recommend both the Chinese and especially the Italian restaurants. Internet access is a disaster.
The room was spacious. I had 2 double beds, though I was traveling alone. One bed had terrible stain (still wet, but not sure where it came from or what it was). I did not bother to ask for it to be changed and it wasn't changed for the entire week. The bathroom was equally spacious with marble tile and Grohe fixtures.
Room service was quick and courteous.
The location though, it out of the way from Lo Wu and Dong Ming shopping. I took the subway once and found out the CP was located in the farthest reaches of the subway system.
I stayed for one week at the CP in Shenzhen. It's a beautiful hotel (the rooms are clean and modern), the view from the top floors is great, the pool area is fantastic (yes, I was there for business :)
The staff is probably the best I've encountered so far.
I was planning a trip to Vegas and with Windows on the World in front of the hotel and the hotel with the look and feel of the Venetian, I already felt half there.
The hotel was pretty nice overall. The beds were rock hard as previously mentioned but the rooms were larger than the other hotels I stayed at in Hong Kong and Beijing and these rooms were also less expensive. The hotel was very clean and probably a 4 star by US standards. The best part of my stay was the nightclub. I was in town one night on business and the “R Bar” was great. I watched the World Cup early in the evening on outside screens and then went inside for live music. The band seemed to be British or Australian.
The hotel sits next to the Subway and Window on the World. To cross the street you take an underground pedestrian tunnel. The neighborhood seems OK, most of the time we traveled by taxi.
1. Hotel is very nice. Most of staff speaks english and are very polite.
2. Hotel is clean and well maintained.
3. Hotel is further out of downtown near all the amusment parks. About 25 minute cab ride (50RMB)
4. Hotel is priced very high for Shenzhen. Try 1800 RMB where downtown its 800 RMB a night.
5. The Suites are huge and very, very nice. Comparable to rooms in Las Vegas.
6. The bed is SUPER hard. Like sleeping on plywood. I heard they have one floor of softer beds on request only.
7. Haved stayed here twice and both times my reserved room was not available.
8. The area around the Crowne Plaza is very nice compared to other areas in Shenzhen. Higher class area. Regularly saw Ferraris and Porsches parked out front.
All in All for Shenzhen the Crowne is a nice hotel. Has its Pros and Cons but I would probably stay here again on my next business trip back to Shenzhen over the Shangri-La or Panglin.
I stayed in Crowne Plaza in the month of May and so far it is the best experience I ever had travelling across China. Service is quick, efficient and friendly. People in the hotel recognise me and treat me as warm as a family member. I am very satisfied with this hotel and would recommend it to everyone who would like to visit Shenzhen.
Shenzhen doesn't seem to have a vast choice of hotels, which is why we ended up staying here. Club floor, suite. Room was nice enough but no extras (no DVD player, music, movies on demand or any other pluses which have pretty much become standard in club floor hotels in Asia etc,). No "luxury bathroom amenities (very standard, better to bring your own), no "welcome drink" and no "glossy international magazines" as promised through the hotel's own online booking. "Fruit basket" finally arrived on second day. Check in and bellboys swift and efficient. Broadband didn't work. Cafe service was absolutely terrible, room service not much better. As for the club floor breakfasts and aperitifs, good luck. The food was limited, the same every day (no variations on a theme) and if you want a glass of white wine, you can wait at least 30 minutes, and that's if you speak Chinese !!!! Check your bill ! They wanted to charge us for 2 hours free use of clubfloor meeting room - included in the room rate. A lot of arguing and emailing to have that cancelled. Japanese restaurant served the best food with the best service. Restaurant Blue was OK, but not fantastic. Outdoor pool closed (out of season) and indoor pool was FREEZING COLD. Plus, ladies, you have to change in the locker room, walk through the gym in your swimsuit to get to the pool. The men don't have to suffer this humiliation. Housekeeping staff were by far the friendliest and most efficent staff in the hotel. All in all not the service you would expect from a five star hotel and misleading unfulfilled "extras" promised on their website. 25 min taxi ride to downtown for shopping or business, but Windows of the World and Chinese Theme park right here. I will stay in Hong Kong next time, and take the train over for a daily trip or two. At least in Hong Kong you get what you pay for. Would not stay here again.
I Stayed here for 2 nights and could not really fault this hotel. We had a Deluxe Suite on one of the Crowne Club Floors and It was excellent in every respect.
The service is efficient and freindly, The restaurants quite good ( A little improvement needed in the Espresso Dept ) and the staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable.
The location is a little out of town but its close to a number of amusement attractions nearby including Happy Land Amusement Park and Windows on the World. It would be a fine choice for an upmarket leisure stay.
I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a week in May of 2005. I was traveling and visiting friends in China for 2 weeks, with my last week spent in Shenzhen. I had excellent service at the Plaza. The staff at the front door never failed to greeting each and every guest with a smile upon entry and exit of the hotel.
I had asked one of the kind staff about where I might find a ATM nearby... and her replied they had one on their main lobby floor. He escorted me to the machine and wanted to make sure I had no trouble in the it's use. It turned out the particular bank that was providing the machine did not recognize my card. The employee was kind of enough to imform me that ATM's in China request a 5 digit pin code and warned me that I should only try twice or the ATM will keep my card. I once again tried for a second time ..but without success. The porter then produced a business card from the hotel and wrote the names of the banks that might recognized my card so that I could complete my transaction. The hotel provided excellent service accross the board.
This hotel was built to be the top hotel in Shenzhen, with a nice pool, a popular bar and good restaurants. The location is arguably pretty good in that it's close to some amusement parks, but far away from offices, the border crossing to Shenzhen or any beaches. Unfortunately, the staff isn't up to international standards, and the quality of the hotel has suffered considerably over the past two years. Aside from the strong smell of mildew on some of the floors and dirty carpets, the service at the hotel wasn't up to expectations.
While some of the staff are professional, there doesn't seem to be any requirement for professionalism. We had to change rooms after the second day, and a porter came to pick up the bags. I was keeping the door mostly closed because we hadn't packed up yet, and the porter pushed the door open himself to take a look. Later, I ordered room service, and my girlfriend was on the bed in her underwear watching TV. I took the room service and asked the waiter to wait a moment, and I shut the door behind me, but didn't latch it. Without asking, the waiter had opened the door and walked into the room. On another day, I came back to the hotel to find my girlfriend had left with the key. I called the front desk to have a key sent up, and the operator agreed immediately. After waiting nearly 10 minutes, I called again and the same operator said that she needed to ask some security questions first. She apparently planned to leave me waiting at the elevator until I called again to prod her. After 5 more minutes, I went to the desk and found that the key was there, but they were waiting for porters to return to send the key to me.
In summary, this hotel clearly had a lot of investment in its construction, and if you're interested in going to the theme parks in Shenzhen, it may be a good place to stay. The poor upkeep and attention to detail and the widely varying quality of the staff make this a poorer than average hotel, when judged on an internation scale.
My wife and I stayed there for 6 nights in August, having booked a room for only 88 euros per night (plus local taxes) breakfast included.
The hotel was modern, clean and overrun with staff.
On arriving we were escorted out of the taxi by one of the many bellboys. Check-in was fast and efficient. Having been taken up to the room, the bellboy stayed for 10 minutes to talk us through (in his best English) what we could do and see in the area. He even went back down 12 floors to bring us back the appropriate tourist brochures.
Room/bathroom spacious, well-equipped as would be expected.
There seems to be a housemaid in residence on each floor, so when you put the "clean room" sign on your door before going down to breakfast, you can be sure it will be clean by the time you get back up.
Large well equipped fitness centre which looks out onto the outdoor (but sheltered) pool. The pool itself has a view over the 100m replica of the Eiffel Tower!
So many pool attendants/staff on duty that when my wife stood up and waved to me in the pool, 3 staff came running up to her to ask what she required!!!
Indoor pool, sauna & steam rooms all well attended and clean.
In the lobby toilets there's even a guy who stands there all day to squirt soap onto your hands and pass you the hand towel!!!
Breakfast buffet riducously copious and varied (try the traditional dim sum you won't regret it).
The Japanese and Chinese restaurants were very good although expensive (60-80 euros for 2) considering that this is China.
When we left the Japanese restaurant the 8 staff formed a human corridor to bid us farewell and wish us more "good night"s than the Waltons!
Poolside bar/club was pretty wild/busy every night with a resident live band and a great DJ. All the chic Shenzhen Chinese seemed to go there to let their hair down over a bottle of whisky or cocktail.
Hotel ideally located next to or close to the theme parks, 10 minutes taxi ride to the Science and Technology park (where a lot of international companies are based) and a cheap 20 minute taxi ride to the train station/Hong Kong border, or to Shekou ferry port in the other direction.
Only "complaint" I had was that I had to listen carefully to understand the English spoken by the staff, but hey, this is China after all....

This hotel has a 'Venice' theme, which means not a lot!
