Nanjing is a wonderful home town city with wide boulevards flanked by sycamore trees. The Ramada hotel is well located at the base of the Hunan road, which is filled with shops and restaurants. It's in a neighborhood, close to Nanjing University, and provides a great venue for leisurely strolls though the back streets. Also in close walking distance is the ancient Drum Tower, with the perfect tea house on the top floor.

The rooms are large and clean, the staff friendly and helpful. Their English is not so great, but after all, you are in China!!! The buffet breakfast is more than adequate, with all kinds of Chinese and western offerings and made to order omelets. Most important, the coffee is good!!!

This hotel provides great value for the money!

I recently stayed in this hotel. We were accommodated on the Club Floor after being told that all the non-smoking floors were full. The room was clean and tidy. I found that the reception staff didn't understand English very well so it was a little hard to get them to understand what I was requesting. The breakfast was probably the worst hotel breakfast that I have had. It really catered for the Asian tastes and not a western style breakfast at all. We arrived at breakfast to find that they had seated an entire conference delegation and had to wait for a table and were on a tight time schedule. Loved Nanjing it has a lot of history. Recommend that you take the "D" Train Bullet Train as it halves the travelling time from Shanghai.

ok, Nanjing is not the best spot on earth, but I had expected a little bit more for a former capital! the ramada hotel is bad...it took us for ever to check in (even with a chinese speaking guide), the room smelt bad (the airco) and the view was bad. I am not even mentionning the breakfast!

I would not recommend it at all. I guess if you go there to see the Ming tomb & co, go back by high speed train and sleep in suzhou!
