Found this lovely gem off of CTrip.com. They were doing renovations while we were staying here and seemed apologetic.
The location is terrific. Steps away from the trendy and hip XinJouKou area of town - which is teeming with Western shopping and the hub of trendy activity in Nanjing.
My (Executive) room was well furnished and equipped. Elegantly decorated with modern conveniences. Service at the front desk was in effective English.
I have stayed here four times in the last few years, and recommend it highly.
It makes a difference to ask for the "Executive" rooms - much nicer furniture, free broadband internet, updated bathroom, free breakfast etc.
No extra karaoke sounds were heard in any of my rooms here, although sometimes in the morning you can hear muzak from the hall.
I enjoy the Chinese breakfast, but recently the breakfast rooms were merged into the lobby Rose Cafe (usually the more pricy Western breakfast room) for a combination breakfast offering.
I recently had a room on the 6th floor with a huge round bathtub and a separate shower.
Some of the housekeeping staff have English skills, as do most of the front desk staff.
I have tried both the ground floor Chinese restaurant and one of the banquet rooms - the food is quite fine.
