This was one of the nicer hotels on our group tour. It is across the street from a small city park. Clean rooms, loved the computer in the room. Quite a large selection at the Chinese buffet breakfast.
I'm on my 1st night here a the New Friendship Hotel. Its not the Ritz, but its comfortable and nice enough for China. They have a hot and cold bottled water dispenser in the room, and a computer for your use. Both free. Request the top floors for computers. The heat works well. From my 10 day experience in China, the bathroom is on par with the others I have been too. Its certainly nothing to write home about.
I stayed at the Friendship hotel zero nights in May. Read on. After
researching many sites. It appeared that the Friendship hotel was the best place to stay. Booked it for one night. Upon arrival it appears to be okay. When we entered our room. Checked it out and it appeared that the bathroom had not been cleaned. There was hair all over the bathroom sink. The beds looked clean but didnt trust it after seeing the sink. The air-cond didnt work all that great and in May it was very hot and humid. You had to stand in front of it to cool off. Best new hotel that isnt on tripadvisor yet is the Companionship Hotel. New, clean and air-cond works great. The rooms were $360RNB. We would have paid anything to not stay at the friendship. The hotel does not have a website yet. The address on the card is the same as the friendship hotel so Im not sure what that means. However, here is the phone number in case you would like to make a reservation...[--] and their fax number...[--]. This is the best hotel in Luoyang.
This is an ordinary 3-star hotel. The staff are quite helpful and cheerful. There was a bit of a strange odour in the washroom. Since our stay was arranged by the tour operator, we ( my wife and I) were treated a bit differently by the staff -in a nice way. For example, we were seated in a different and more private area during breadfast. The first day, some western food were placed on our table separately since they knew we were from Canada. This was stopped when we told the waitress that we did not mind the Chinese buffet and would not like to waste the western food.
The temperature of the hotel was found to be a bit too warm. Like most Chinese hotels ( except the 5-stars), there was essentially no non-smoking room, let alone floors. The cigarette smoke from the neigboring rooms were utterly awful and disgusting. Hopefully, China will ban smoking in public places before more people die of cancer.
The hotel was situated right across a park and a massage center. We tried the whole body Thai style massage at a cost of 100 RMB/2 hrs ( approx. $15 Canadian). We were treated so nice by the staff as well as the two gigling masseurs that we went back the second day.

Exceptionally helpful staff. Centrally located, good clean rooms.
