This hostel is only new, but was fine for what we needed it for. Close location to getting most places - Beijing is so easy to get around! Is down a funny little alley way, but felt safe, and local people helped us find it (turn right after you get past the parked car areas to find the alleyway). Was missing a few of the small amenities, such as tourist info, hooks in bathroom, kitchen area, but if you just want a bed it's fine. Owners were really nice & went out of their way to make us welcome

We were overall pleased with Dragon Hostel, was located right in centre of Kaloon. Great location, easy to get around & lots of markets, but in a scummy looking apartment block on VERY busy streets with lots of night and morning noise. Most cheap accomodation in Hong Kong is small - so no complaints from us, just expected it. They helped us with what to do in Hong Kong and also had a good washing and drying facility for our clothes (at cost). Free internet was great and staff were very pleasan

Very clean yet coffin-sized private room with a shared tiny bathroom that you practically have to perch upon the toliet to shower. Helpful staff and good location with free internet.

Our stay at Dragon Hostel was a very pleasant and memorable one. The hostel has a really good location in Hong Kong. The staff were very accommodating and did their very best to help us with our inquiries. Our 3 bed room was perfect and clean. We will definitely come back. Thank you to everyone at Dragon Hostel especially to Stanley who was very helpful especially in recommending a good Chinese restaunant to us on our first night. Maraming Salamat! :)

Overall my husband and I quite satisfied with Dragon Hostel's service... although the room is small and sometime can hear noisy car hon sounds from the street, but its worth for money. Its can recommend for couples or group of friends who travel in HK with free and easy trip. Not recommend for those people who need carry their baby or kids.

Location is good. Room is clean. It is a little noisy during the night time because of the music from somewhere and the car horns from the roads.

I paid HK$200/night for a single room/bed and shared bathroom facilities. I was so impressed I later came back and rented a bunk-bed room (double-size mattress on bottom, single on top bunk) for just HK$280/night with private bath facilities.

I can't really say anything negative about this place. Not only is it clean (they wipe/dry the shared bathroom facilities throughout the day), the service is excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful especially when it came to transit questions and how to get back to the airport.

Rooms were obviously small and cramped. However, no pests, no termites, no ants. Very well kept. Clean linens. There is plenty of space under the bed to slip in one or two large suitcases. Yes, it's small, but for HK$200 you simply can't do any better. My relatives (HK natives) were so impressed with the price/cleanliness/convenience they took a stack of business cards to recommend to their friends. Yes... you KNOW it's good if even the locals want in on the action. =)

Location is absolutely PRIME. Seriously... you won't find a more central spot in Hong Kong. Minutes away from Mong Kok subway, across the road from Ladies St. and a skip from the Mong Kok Computer Center. The convenience alone is worth every penny.

They're pretty high up, so you won't hear the busy Mong Kok traffice at street level either. I did not have a problem waiting for the shared bath facilities. Private facilities were very nice and I'm happy I paid a bit more for it.

Internet is free via wi-fi in the lobby (they also provide two computers). Pre-boiled hot/cold water is always available (a must if you're in HKG). Towels, blow-dryers, etc... are available with a small deposit. They really try and make your stay as comfortable as possible, which is a surprise seeing at how low they price their rooms.

Highly recommended!

Based on the reviews here I was looking forward to a professional, friendly experience at the Dragon. The place is clean, the location excellent. The supposedly revered management here, however, were extremely slack in responding to our booking and a subsequent query via email. When we were there I asked what kind of triple rooms were available as we had to fly out of Hong Kong at the end of our 'around Asia' trip. Our room was an awful little box. I was told, in literally one word, that the triple rooms at the hostel were 'similar.' This isn't the case. Some are larger than others, for example, and have windows which makes the experience of staying at the hostel completely different. Clearly the management had little interest in making the effort to allocate a specific room to specific guests on a specific date. Too much like hard work I guess. Better to treat people like cattle ... Awful, lazy service and management skills.

I went for the first time to hong kong with two of my friends. We were there for 3 days.

I had read so much positive things here on tripadvisor about dragon hostel, so I booked a room for 3.

It was small, but we had 2 normal sized beds, and a bigger one, a tv, shower and toilet in the room. And a little place to put the bags. So you really get more than you pay for.

Like other wrote, they have hard madrases, but its OK. I sleep really good.

Right outside the building is the Ladys market, witch I really loved and enjoyed.

I would recommend this for people. Its small, but really good.

We all liked it.

We used this hostel for 4 nights, which was just the right amount of time. The rooms are clean but very small, if you are a 6 foot + person the beds are too small my head and feet were touching the walls!

The ensuite is small but does th job.

However we didn't spend too much time in there.

Location wise its geat 50 meters to the MTR easy enough to find and right opposite the ladies market.

Free internet is available.

Overall I would stay there again. The price was good.

If you arevtravelling on a budget this is the best you will find

Stayed in a room with 2 single beds and a private bathroom for 15 nights in late Oct / early Nov 2008.

Room is small and clean and great value for money.

Bed is hard as per usual in HK but no uncomfortable springs like another hostel in HK I stayed at.

Excellent location to the markets and the MTR, the only thing that could stop me from staying here again is I prefer the Island over Kowloon anyday.

Just remember its a hostel, if you expect a hotel you will be disappointed.

You pay what you get. I can say that the location is good (Heart of Mong Kok MTR) but one thing I don't like is that the room is very small - Room size is about the size of 1 king size bed with a small toliet.

The building is safe as it is guarded by security and CCTV. It is very accessible as there are many shops around. You don't need to worry about nothing to eat as surrounding shops has lot of things to eat.

There is 2 internet access for free. The room does not have any broadband cable like the hotel does.

Dragon hostel is a great place to stay in. We stayed here for 4 days, room is small but spotlessly clean. Great value for your money! Owner, Stanley was very kind. It is very accessible to McDonalds (for kids)and 7-11 for emergency stuff, just across the night market, with esprit, bossini and other great malls and stalls nearby. MTR is just a minute walk, which even if it's raining during your stay, it would still be convenient for you to go out and explore HK. I'll definitely stay in this hostel again on our next visit. Will recommend this to anyone. The money you will save for staying here instead of booking in a hotel, can be wisely used for additional shopping budget around the area.

Thumbs up for the place!

My sister picked this hostel out from the Internet and based it mostly on the positive tripadvisor reviews. I must say it was really an excellent choice! The price is very affordable, the two of us stayed in a private room with a window and a private bedroom and for five nights it cost us about HKD 1200 (US$34 a night)!

Aside from the price, I think the best part really is location. It's literally at the heart of Mong Kok in a building called Sincere House and the map they provided online was sufficient and easy to memorise plus the building was in the corner of the block facing Argyle Street so it's easy to navigate through the two entrances. We arrived at ten in the evening and I honestly thought I will be at a dodgy place and was slightly scared because we took the airport bus going there, but in fact, we had an easy time because the entire place was well lit, and still vibrant even at that late an hour. Check-in took a little hiccup thou' because there was a panicking Korean girl, she had issues, which I explain in detail here [--], but luckily, we did not have those issues. In fact, Rocky, the guy who checked us in, was very friendly and accommodating, since he had no language barriers and spoke good English and even spoke Filipino! The other staff had difficulty with English but it's a good thing there was a kind guy who helped us translate when we needed to have currency changed (don't change at the airport! Just buy an Octopus card using your currency from the concierge, and just have currency changed here, they ask for no commission and have near-market rates). So there, that was another huge plus, the currency converter thing. Plus they provided free Internet access with three computer terminals at the check-in room. Since it was at the heart of a shopping district and my sister and I mostly shopped, it was easy depositing shopped items at the hostel and just carrying on. I just LOVED it. So there were really no hiccups (okay, the lights in the bathroom kind of had a glitch halfway during our stay but I think they had it fixed; and of course the rooms were tiny, but that's expected in Hong Kong) during the stay, and I hope whoever is reading this will have the same experience as well.

The Dragon Hostel is very clean and neat. The staff are very helpful and assisted me with everything I needed including directions and costs. I stayed in a private room with private bath. They have clean, boiled water to drink and the rooms have remote controlled air conditioning. Someone cleans the room on a daily basis. Rooms are provided with towels, bed sheets, blankets and even shampoo and soap. There is always hot water and the water pressure is strong. Travelers are also provided with a refrigerator and computers with internet access at no extra charge. I highly recommend this place.

I would say that it was really God's blessing that I chose Dragon Hostel over other hostels listed in the internet...Everything was perfectly all right for all travellers, especially for first timers like me..the price was right for budget travellers like me...taking into consideration the location of the place, near to almost shops and transportation accessibility...the place was neat and tidy...the people in-charge were hospitable and accomodating...they could also understand and speak english...there were two computers with internet connection which the guests can use for free...all the basic needs of a traveller are met...likewise, the other guests were also friendly...one can have a good night sleep after a whole day of shopping and roaming around Hongkong...and right from your arrival to the airport, you can immediately locate Dragon Hostel if you will just print their instructions and map found in their website which is very informative...I sent them an e-mail and their reply was very quick and friendly...When I came back here in the Philippines, I would always recommend Dragon Hostel to all who plan to take a vacation in Hongkong...the next time i'll be in HK, I will stay again in Dragon Hostel...

I found the Dragon Hostel really good. Its a bit daunting when you first arrive. The actual entrance into Sincere House is on Fa Yuen Street, a small doorway into the building. Blink and you miss it!! Once inside you take the elevator to the 7th floor and into the area which is the Dragon Hostel. Its like a section of one floor of the building. The room we had was a family room and consisted of a double bed with a single above and one single bed. With only two of us it was 'roomy'. The bathroom was strange to say the least. A small toilet sized room, with a toilet and basin, and you shower over the toilet, so the whole area gets wet, toilet included. In saying that, it had hot water, air conditioning, so it basically met our needs, as we spent most of the day shopping etc. The office area had two computers on the internet, and there was hot/cold water and a fridge in a communal kitchen area. I found our room clean and tidy and the whole experience just fine. I do recommend printing out the address from the website as they have it in english and chineses, along with a small map.

This is one of the best hostels I've ever stayed. Stayed here in Sep-Oct 2006. I booked my room from the internet. Reasonably priced, the rooms are small but adequate and clean. I stayed in a bathroom attached room with a small TV with 3 single beds. Although there awe have only 2 travellers, he let use take the entire room. The location is excellent, being near to many fantastic eateries, the MTR, the shopping scene in Mongkok, etc. There's a small friendly laundry shop opposite (near the market) if you are looking for a place to have your laundry done. The Ah-Soh (aunty) running the laundry shop will return your clothes cleaned, neatly folded and smellin good! The Ah-Sok (uncle) in-charge of the hostel is a friendly chatty fella, who would spare no effort in looking into our requests. He would tell us that he is overjoyed to see student travellers who'd returned to stay there after a few years later and how they have progressed, etc. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay in a very local Hong Kong environment (just like what was shown in HongKong TV serials).

Stayed here for 4 nights in May 2008. I found this to be a great hostel. The location is excellent, right in Mong Kok, close to the ladies night market and temple street night market. The hostel is cozy with small rooms, but for the price and location it is excellent. For rooms without a bathroom, there are common washrooms which are clean and well maintained. The property is family owned and managed and the staff is helpful. There are 3 common computers to use for free as well. I definitely would stay here on future visits to Hong Kong as it is excellent value for the price and would prefer this location and environment over other hostels. It gets quite busy though and I would recommend contacting directly for booking. The building entrance is not on Argyle Street but is on a side street. The hostel is on the 7th floor of a highrise and there are many others located in the same building in case you can't book with Dragon Hostel.

I spent 4 days at the Dragon Hostel and thought it was a decent - basically a typical hostel.

The pros:

- clean rooms, friendly staff, great air conditioning, great location, very close to the subway

The cons:

- the smallest room I've ever stayed in, no window, paper-thin walls, loud cleaning staff that woke me up EVERY morning with their hour-long conversations.

Also, one day I came back in the afternoon to have a nap and people kept coming into my room and they were not the cleaning staff. I'm guessing they came in to make sure the air conditioning was off (I'm guessing) but I really didn't like the idea of staff making frequent trips into my room when I'm not there. Maybe it's just me. Obviously I don't mind the cleaning staff doing that but I don't like every other staff member making frequent trips to my room.

If you're just looking for a clean place to sleep and a (probably) safe place to leave your luggage you'll be happy here.

I was originally having trouble finding decent budget accomodation in hong kong but found this gem on trip advisor. i would highly recommend this hostel for its great location, security, cleanliness, friendliness and knowledgeable staff/owner, as is anywhere in H-K space is at a premium but is also fully utilised. i wouldn't hesitate in staying here again, not the easiest to find but just ask locals and they will point you in right direction.

The best hostel we every stayed. Room & toilet is clean daily, sheets & comforter are change every 2-3days, have free local calls, have hot & cold drinking water, provides shampoo, body shampoo & toilet roll, hv hot showers, very clean toilet & just the right size as i am quite a big-sized girl and have tv in own room eventhough its a hostel! Safe & affordable place for 3 girl travelers like us, and we stayed there for 5 nights. Hostel is run by family members, Stanley, his father & his staff are very helpful. Located just opposite ladies' market, nearby langham mall, esprit shop, fa yuen street, hv the best porridge & HUGE yau char kwai just a few shops away, nearby Mc-Donald & 7-eleven, has tasty beef ball stick just below the hostel, tim-sum, pau & steamboat shops, just a short distance to mtr, just the next mtr stop to yau ma tei to eat the claypot rice & cheaper shopping stalls at temple street. Highly recommended. Attached are pictures of the nearby shops and surroundings.

I expected worst from this hostel but i was wong. The staff were very helpful esp the half-filipino guy, can speak english, the room was tidy although it's a bit small but it's normal in HK & everyday the cleaner was there to arrange our things & it's all intact, lots of shampoo & soap in the bathroom although the bathroom is a little bit small but it's clean and there's hot water in the shower, that's the most important for a traveller like us. There's a mc donalds in the next bldg, location is nice, walking distance to shopping areas in mongkok, mtr station & bus stop in nathan rd going to the airport is just 10 min walk. Im sure will come back again!!

I stayed at dragon hostel during my trip to hong kong 16/11/07 to 20/11/07. I booked this hostel based on recommendations posted in Trip Advisor.

My stay was very comfortable. The location is great cos Mong Kok MTR station is 3 minutes away, The Ladies St /Shoes St is also approximately 5 minutes away. Bus stop to the Airport is also within walking distance.

The place is clean. They provide us with boiled water (hot and cold) everyday. I had 2 small children with me and i chose the ensuite room with 1 double and 1 single bed arrangement. Eventhough the room is small but we had a comfortable stay.

Overall, I would recommend this great place to anyone except for honeymooners..

My friends and I had a 5 night stay in the 5-people family room of Dragon Hostel. We paid HKD 480 per night and I would say it was value for money! There were 2 double decker beds, with one of the bottom beds a queen size bed. Room was quite small but that's Hong Kong for you...

I would highly recommend it for the following reasons: Good location (just a short walk from Mong Kong MTR), clean rooms and low cost!!

We arrived Hong Kong at past 11:00 in the evening last November 21, 2007, a week ago and we directly boarded Bus21 for Mongkok. This was our first time and we were very excited. We found the building where Hong Kong Budget Hostel is located but to my surprise, the things that i read from the net was far from reality. We were very tired and when we reached Hong Kong Budget Hostel, the in-charge that night slammed the door against us after learning that we have not booked for a room. I felt so bad about it and we have no other choice than to try all the other hostel in that building and when we knock on Dragon Hostel, the in-charge, Mr. Roque Lucero Jr., who is very accommodating, let us in and sit while he tried contacting other hostel if they have vacancy since they are also full that night. He was very nice to us. He accompany us to the vacant room where we will stay for one night and transferred the following night because they already have a vacant room for us. The room is airconditioned, small but very clean, just enough for me and my two grown up children. The bed is soft and has clean sheets and comforters. We have private bathroom with hot water, and clean towels for each of us. Our things are safe while we are out during the day and the cost is cheap and for travellers like us, it is very affordable. I would like to say thank you to Roque for taking care of us during our stay. For new comers like us, Dragon Hostel is for you. You will not regret staying there.

We just came back from HK and we're quite pleased with our 8-night stay at Dragon Hostel. The rooms are basically small (that's the standard in HK) but we were comfortable with it. We were happy with the hostel that we decided to cancel our hotel in Causeway Bay and instead extended our stay in Dragon. For the first half of the trip, we booked the family room with 1 double bed with 2 single beds with street view windows. The room was clean with a small bathroom that was manageable. The AC unit was really cool and the staff was friendly. The second leg of the trip, we were transfered to another family room minus the extra single bed and no street view windows. We really preferred the other room but since it was a last minute decision to extend, that was the only room available. For the second type of family room, it was quite hard to distinguish the time of day since our room did not catch any sunlight. The AC unit was not as cool as the other room, so next time we'll book at Dragon, we'll make sure to get the bigger family room with windows. Anyway, for their services, we got free boiled water everyday which meant some savings for us- no need to go to 7-11 or Wellcome to buy bottled water which could have been a big inconvenience. We also had access to their small fridge and microwave oven, plus the free Wifi access. Clean towels, toothbrush, toothpaste were provided. We went with our little toddler and she was comfortable with the hostel- which was a big deal for us (although she really preferred the bigger family room, so we had some major crying problems the night we transfered rooms). The bigger advantage of staying at this hostel other than the accommodations would be the location. Right outside the hostel building (Sincere House) are tons of places to eat. We especially liked having breakfast (consisting of rice rolls, noodles, siomai, lomaikai) at the store right outside the building at the corner which transforms into a fishball stand after 10am, so better get breakfast early because they ran out. There are also two Hui Lau Shan stores in the area for your refreshing healthy dessert fix and two Cafe de Corals, 2 Mcdonalds, and many many Chinese eateries. The market is also very near and we bought cherries, lychees. Also, right across the hostel building are lots of electronic stores and clothing stores likes Bossini, Crocodile, Wanko. A little further would be Esprit and the very posh Langham Place. The Esprit outlet store (huge savings! shopping galore!!) is also very near plus more Giordano, Bossini (4 floors with play area for kids!) and many more. It was a really fun stay for us and when we felt tired from the shopping, we easily walked to the hostel to take a break. Talk about cutting down on transpo expenses! On our way back to Manila, Stanley the owner of the hostel even arranged the taxi ride to the airport for only 200hkd for 2 adults, a baby and two luggages- what a deal! Overall, we highly recommend this hostel if you're looking for clean, comfortable and cheap place to stay in HK.

We found the hostel from the hostelworld website. What a bargain! We paid only HK$450 for 4 people per night, what we got is 2 singles and 1 double deck bed.

The room is small yet very clean. The owner provides hot & cold water (outside), 14"tv, slippers, soap, toothbrush but no towel.

Free internet usage (2 units) from 9am-11pm aswell.

This place offers the best of Chinatown for you... from food, bargain shopping and the culture. Best part is it is just a 2 minutes walk from The Mongkok station and they provides you with maps and guide books .

I will stay here again if I come back to HK

I stayed at the Dragon Hostel on a family trip to Hong Kong at the beginning of November 2005. First of all, the owner of this place: Stanley Fan is absolutely brilliant! Upon arrival, he took us into the reception area and gave us a drink until our room was ready.

The rooms are located along a corridor at the end of which there is a kitchen with a fridge, microwave and hot and cold water for your use. We found this very useful, especially if you're on a budget and just want to pick up a cheap noodle pack from the 7-Eleven instead of going out to eat.

Rooms themselves are very basic and small, but you can store luggage under the beds which gives you more room to move - they are very clean and the beds are comfortable. The air-con is a nice relief from the muggy HK air! Private bathrooms are tiny, but again, have everything you need and are cleaned daily.

The location of the hostel is pretty good - Mong Kok is a shock to the system if you've never been there before, there are so many people and apart from in the early morning, you are fighting to make your way through them, but if you like being in the hustle and bustle of the city, then this location is ideal. Shops selling electronics - mainly mobile phones seem to be the speciality in this area, but you can pick most things up and the Ladies Market is just across the road from the hostel. 7-Elevens, McDonalds, KFC and pharmacies are all within a stone's throw and the MTR subway system is a few paces along the road.

If coming from the airport, take bus A21 and get off when you see Mong Kok MTR station - it costs HKD33 and drops you off at the end of the street where the hostel is.

The hostel is one MTR stop or a 10 minute walk from the Temple Street Night Market and is just 3 stops from Tsim Sha Tsui.

If you're looking for a basic, clean place to stay then I would recommend this place.
