The newly opened Guilin Xiaoyanglou Youth Hostel is located on the side of Taohua River, in the Guilin city centre, near the famous Elephant Trunk Hill. The hotel has not only a beautiful environment but also a good location. The train and bus stations are three to five minutes’ walk from the hotel and one can reach the airport, by car, in half an hour.
The hotel is fully equipped and has various room types including Riverview Room, standard room, and family room. In the hotel, there is a bar, restaurant, self-help laundry, self-catering kitchen, Internet cafe, TV room, mini-supermarkets, and CD-ROM services for visitors' leisure. In addition, at the reception desk there are ticket and tour services and our staff speak fluent English.

During our stay in Guilin we've checked this hotel too. Though the rooms are not very warm and we've chosen a more pricey alternative to stay in, we still think that there are several reasons to mention some good words about the place: first, the staff is
very hospitable and shows a real care and interest regarding the coming tourists (it starts from the polite "hello! welcome" and continues with the room presentation, starting from the cheapest to the more expensive and not vice versa), second the rooms,
being not big, they are very cosy and clean, third - they have quiet rooms with windows looking to the river (a terrific view and harmonious feeling :).
I really hope that the next edition of "Lonely Planet" will also have this youth hostel on the list.
We stayed at this hotel for one night and absolutely loved our room, mainly because it faced the river and had a window which went from top to bottom the entire front. The location was also very good - 5 minutes from the long-distance bus terminal and a leisurely 15 min walk to the city centre.
