I reserved a room at the hotel with their staff directly as I was going at a very busy time of the year and didn't want to have a problem. After numerous e-mails and a one day up-front deposit I managed to secure my room, or so I thought. When I arrived it turned out that they had over booked and were not able to give me a room. Hours of arguing finally got them to arrange a room for me at another hotel, but only for that one night and I had to pay it directly with Yihe. I also had to leave a deposit at the new hotel and check in again. I had just come from over 30 hours of travel so all of this was quite annoying
The next morning I had to return to the Yihe where I was now told my room wasn't going to be ready until 6pm. I was not even given my room number or allowed to check in so I had to come back at 6pm and get everything set up. Keep in mind that at every step you have to wait in line and the person you spoke to before isn't there anymore so it's all pretty time consuming.
Once I got the room it was fine as I had been upgraded to a suite by then (no small feat in China), but even then the room was lacking with a mediocre bathroom and TVs that didn't quite work (the suite had multiple TVs, but none were working properly). Would hate to see what a normal room is like.
Bottom line, this is not a cheap hotel and given its price you can do much better in Guangzhou. I can't find any reason to ever stay in this hotel.
this is a a very clean hotel and i would go back there and stay, however the day i had checked out, i exchanged usd for rmb and had being given a fake 100 rmb!! this caused a huge mess up in my onward journey! they fuss over a dollar bill if it has being torn less then a 1cm yet they give me fake money!! plz be warned fellow guests check money when u change!
please note that i didnt use the business facility in the lobby and the internet was really slow in the room. I cant comment on Family facilities but anyone who takes their kids to Guangzhou is very very mean. You cant get this booking in a holiday brochure for a reason. Its not very far away from the heart of GZ. Every taxi driver in the city i presented my address card to found the hotel first time. EXCELLENT ATTITUDE OFF ALL THE STAFF. Sometimes it was hard to get your point across and you didnt get exactly what you asked for but hey!, thats China :) If you want a good foot massage I suggest crossing the street to the other massage business. It is part of the summer palace hotel and much much better than the 1 on the 6th floor. You can see the pool through the glass floor in the lobby, its excellent! My 3rd time in China and my best stay by far... THANKS TO EVERYONE, ALL THE STAFF, THE BELL BOYS, THE BELL CAPTAIN, ALL THE SECURITY AND THE SINO HOTEL STAFF FOR AN EXCELLENT STAY... Keep up the good work! Martin, England. www.coatingconsumables.co.uk
A very bad experience. most of the things in the rooms were spoilt, eg. lights kept going off, fridge was spoilt, no hot water for shower at times. the hotel even locked us out during out last night of stay there, all they said was they were not aware of the actual date of our last day of check out and they promised to give us a new set of room keys, we waited all nithgt but to no avail, we couldnt leave the rooms and had to leave the doors open to go to the next rooms. were even given room infested by mosquitoes. every little things like coffee sachets had to be paid for, unlike other hotels. had to even pay for towel slightly stained accidently. Would not recomend this hotel unless you desperately need a massive pool.
