The staff were excellent and very professional. The rooms were excellent and roomy. Everything worked, but could use a little hotter water. Not in the old town, but not to far to walk or take a pedicab to the old town. We would return again to this hostel.

My husband and I stayed here during our 2 day visit to Dali in 2008.

The hostel is located a fair way from the main bus station and Dali old town which makes it a bit tricky for sightseeing. It is located next door to the 3 pagodas. This sight is very expensive at 120 yuan per person (more expensive than the forbidden city!). While it is nice to be so close to this attraction, I felt like we were too far from the main square of old town Dali.

The hostel offered a free pick up from the bus station (anytime of the day - just call them and let them know what time you arrive) - luckily this was the case as the hostel is 20km from the bus station.

The rooms are rather quaint and lovely. We stayed in a twin room. It is very quiet and peaceful. The hostel is situated around a traditional Chinese garden with a water feature and little bridges. The rooms are really big. The shower is not that good- really poor pressure and heat. There is also a western toilet.

There is a big communal area with 2 PCs for free internet. There is a kitchen where you can cook but there are some basic rules you must follow. They also offer basic, cheap but bland meals. Breakfast is offered for 10 yuan and is pretty decent with noodles, fried vegetables, bread dumplings, fresh fruit and some meat dishes.

The staff are fairly friendly and offer a travel service. There is a resident dog who has a bark worse than his bite!

If you want peace and quiet, stay here. I probably would stay closer to Dali old town next time around.
