We were very happy with our room. Very clean, staff were lovely and they arranged travel for us for touring chengdu and surrounds. The Tour director even answered our call for assistance on his day off to speak English to our guide. Breakfast was cold so not appetising, so we ate out the next few days.
Your booking service is fantastic we always use it and we have been travelling 3 weeks with another 2 left. very happy customer.
This place is fabulous from the Hotel amenities to the very helpfull staff. They arranged 2 days sightseeing for us at a reasonable cost. The room is very clean and spacious/Breakfast is excellent. Location is near all the great shops.
We use your service every time you have been efficient and we feel relaxed knowing everything has been attended to for us.
The hotel is ideally situated within walking distance of the center of Chengdu. We had a much softer bed than is usual in China and our room had plenty of space for two open suitcases, two of us to sit with laptops, free high-speed internet through a cable connection, and a Starbucks across the street. Very little noise despite being located right on a main thoroughfare. We stayed on the 19th floor, which is designated a non-smoking floor and the room was very comfortable. Will definitely recommend to others.
Due to the low season, there were few people in the hotel. The whole villa was quiet. Environment nearby was very beautiful and nice. We stayed in one Deluxe Standard Room with the king size bed; the room was very clean and well decorated. The facilities in the room were ok. Breakfast in the hotel is delicious, but the problem is that the food is mostly cold. Thus, I did not have breakfast in the hotel the next day, and went out the hotel to have breakfast in other little restaurant, very delicious Chinese food. In all, the hotel is ok, and I would like to stay in the hotel again.
The Dynasty Hotel greeted us with a huge panda tiled on the wall outside the entrance of the hotel. The hotel lobby and common areas are lovely and very nicely maintained. My daughter and I were traveling with friends from home and with a "Return to China" tour and this was the first hotel that adjoining rooms were unavailable. Not a huge problem except when we were told not to prop our doors to let the girls (8 year olds) go back and forth between rooms which were next to each other. The maid knocked and pointed to the door and said "not safe." Maybe she thought there wasn't an adult in the room. But the same happened to others in our group as well. Not a big deal, we were not in our rooms a whole lot anyway, it just made us appreciate adjoining rooms more!!
The rooms had large windows that overlooked the city with 2 chairs in front of the windows and a little table. The twin beds were quite comforable. Compared to the lobby and common areas of the hotel, the rooms were a bit shabby and thread bare but both the room and the bathroom were very clean. I can't recall if the room was a designated non-smoking room but it did not have an old smoke smell that I noticed on another floor.
One thing I did notice was, that because we were gone for long periods of time throughout the day, the air conditioner would be off when you removed your key from the electric wall jack. (A slot you put your room key in to turn the electricity on in the room. I had never seen these before and they were in every hotel we stayed in on this trip to China.) This made the room very humid as it was rainy and humid outside and gave the bedding a damp feeling. It took a long time with the air conditioner running on high and very cold to get rid of that damp feeling, so we never really could.
The Dynasty had an outdoor pool that looked quite nice. Others from our group used it and had a great time but we opted out during that free time to do some shopping in some great shops that were all within walking distance of the hotel.
Although there were at least 2, if not more, options for dining at the hotel, we only ate breakfast there. The breakfast was a buffet with Western and Chinese choices (even something Sichuan, which my daughter loved!) and was excellent.
The service at the Dynasty was excellent and the hotel was quite lovely except for the rooms needing some updating. It was very clean and to me, that is more important then some faded wallpaper. I'd definitely stay at the Dynasty again!
The hotel has a wonderful location, very close to the city's main square. It was clearly built as a showpiece (probably in the early to mid 1990s?), and is a bit tired, but is still in pretty good shape. Our room was also a bit tired, but was pretty clean. The shower was nice, and the linens were pretty decent. The service was very good - we had breakfast included in our room rate, and when we checked out early in the morning to catch a flight, they gave us a very generous boxed breakfast to take along.
One thing does bear mentioning though - the beds are extremely hard. Most hotel beds in China are very firm, of course, but these were even harder than the train berths we slept in while in China. Have you ever sat or leaned on a department store's linens display, and had a moment's disconnect before you realized that the linens were draped over a display platform instead of a bed? Same idea. I actually burst out laughing when I sat on my bed. That said, my husband (who likes firm mattresses) was able to sleep well, and after using both of the room's extra blankets as mattress padding, I slept decently.
We booked a standard room for four nights in August on Expedia. We got a greatly discounted rate of CAD$57 per night. This hotel was exceptional. The location was perfect - in walking distance to shopping, parks and most major tourist sites (Starbucks across the street!) The beds were hard, but this was the case everywhere in China. Most of the staff spoke little English, but they were very friendly and polite, and were quick to find someone else to help us if they could not. My husband and I noticed in the guest book that there was a dress code - this intimidated us a bit, as we had just returned from a trekking trip in Tibet and had only trekking clothes - but as far as we saw, this was not really enforced, and we were never treated with anything but respect. The rooms were tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. We were given a plate of fruit on arrival, and our beds were turned down nightly. The hotel itself charges about quadruple of what we paid, but if you can find it on discount as we did, it's a major deal. Even if not, I would certainly be willing to pay much more than we did for the quality of hotel that it was.
This hotel is offically rated as 4 stars but it is really nicer than several other 4 stars I've seen. Rooms, food, service, cleanliness, location, everything was fine. The lobby is quite impressive; I'd rank it 3rd after the China World in BeiJing and the Garden Hotel in GuangZhou. Chengdu itself is a wonderful city to visit but if you're bored the hotel TV has several foreign channels. The sauna is also recommended.
You can see tourists staying here who are in transit on their to Tibet, ChengDu being one of the few places with flights to Lhassa.
